  1. The dust from the pot sat inertly on the ground.
  2. Onyx exhaled, sitting down on a chair. After all this time, he thought to himself. Here I am again. A thought crossed his mind and he waved his hand in the air, tearing a portal through which he drew a sheath of papers. He flipped through them idly. They were covered in boxes filled with strings of numbers and words he was sure meant something to someone. Except for the last page, which contained only a single word. A name. Onyx stared at the name for a long time. --- A gray pot fell out of thin air and smashed on the ground in front of her, spilling its contents all over the ground.
  3. X jumped as a piece of the ground was swallowed into a crack. "Sure! But we need to leave now!" @Thaidakar the Ghostblood @Being of Cacophony
  4. Onyx nodded, waving his hand and sending everyone in the throne room back into the waiting area.
  5. "You should speak to the inspector," Onyx replied. "He is the one that has spent the most time studying it."
  6. "What is it you think I can teach you?" asked Onyx.
  7. So I had an idea for an "action madness" game. LGXX: Whoops, All Mistborn (title not final) The thought of GMing this game simultaneously horrifies and intrigues me.
  8. The ground shakes as the sky begins to fall apart. "I don't know!" X called. "Anywhere but here!" @Thaidakar the Ghostblood @Shadowed
  9. Onyx nodded. "Be careful. Wield your blade with wisdom. There are dark things stirring." Onyx nodded. "Speak." I considered writing a program to un-reverse it, but then I saw the original was posted so I didn't need to.
  10. "Do you have any other requests?" inquired Onyx of Sequence. @Sequence Is that what you used to write Eof's backstory?
  11. You don't see it per se, you have to count them up yourself. Or, you know, write a program that will do it for you. Onyx nodded. "It will be done."
  12. Onyx considered the spear in his hands, then the crown, then the hammer. "Under some considerations," he answered, "any of my blades could be considered the most powerful. For instance, Conflict." He handed the spear to Sequence. "Its power grows to match the strength of its opponent. Thus if you are determined enough, there is no battle you cannot win. Is it therefore the strongest Plotblade?" He leaned back. "Against mortal strength it will be little more than a spear, after all... so perhaps not." He turned, stepping towards the crown. "And then there is the Plotblade currently known as Suddenly Pineapples, a manifestation of the very soul of the Longest Thread. In theory, there is nothing it could not do. Is it therefore the greatest of all?" His hand hovered an inch away from the pillar of light, but did not enter. "Perhaps. But until the most powerful Author wills it to be otherwise, it will be nothing more than a crown." He pulled his hand away. "Finally, the hammer." He walked over to the pedestal. "There are many names that would be appropriate for it- Worldbuilding, or Continuity, as you said- but the name I feel fits best is Lore." He reached into the pillar of light and hefted the hammer. "It ties the past to the future. Within it lies the authority once given to the Master of Silence to decide what has happened... and what has not. Its power is what defends the other Plotblades from the ravages of Narration. Without its foundation, the other Plotblades would be nothing. Is it therefore the most powerful?" He gazed at it, lost in thought. "I suppose, in the end, that it all depends on the measurement that is chosen." He blinked, then turned back to the adventurer. "But to answer your question simply, yes. The Hammer of Lore holds power over Continuity. For what reason do you ask?" TL;DR: Sequence's Plotblade (the spear) is Conflict. Its strength will match whatever opponent it is used against. (So against a dragon, for instance, it might gain the ability to freeze fireballs and become sharp enough to slice through scales). Any battle involving Conflict will be won by the person who is the most determined to win, be that the holder or their opponent. The Crown is the Plotblade 'Suddenly Pineapples' (although that name is not permanent). It is a manifestation of the soul of the Longest Thread. Although it possesses unlimited potential, it is currently completely powerless. Its abilities are determined by the most powerful Author, which is the person with the most posts on TLT. That is currently @UnfortunatelyNamed, with a staggering 8700+ posts. The Hammer is the Plotblade Lore, (also sometimes called Continuity or Worldbuilding.) It controls the lore of TLT, holding the authority that was once delegated to Narrator Master of Silence.
  13. That felt like a pretty short game. Maybe just by comparison with LG92 though
  14. Onyx nods and turns to the brave adventurer, nodding gravely. "Your audience has been granted. Do you wish to speak in private?"
  15. Onyx turned to Sequence. "What say you? You were the victor. Do they deserve an audience?" @Sequence
  16. "Yeah," replied X. "But I don't... I'm not in charge or anything..."
  17. "Indeed," confirmed Onyx. "It is the Plotblade of Conflict."
  18. X slumped, feeling the tide of fury inside him dissipate. In its place, he just felt... exhausted. He saw someone run up to the rapidly expanding cracks. "Hey," he called. "Step back. We need to get out of here." @Shadowed @Thaidakar the Ghostblood @Being of Cacophony
  19. There was a loud, high-pitched tone, as if reality itself were screaming in agony. X jerked back, his beam of black fire swirling out. Where the beams had met- where the pillar had once stood- was... nothing. Void. As he watched, cracks began to form near the edges, spreading outwards alarmingly quickly. He blinked, black eyes returning to their normal color, and gasped. "What the-?" @Shadowed
  20. X's mouth curled into a snarl as his fire exploded outwards. Even as he maintained his beam, however, thin cracks began to appear in thin air. The universe was starting to decay. @Shadowed
  21. So Sequence just summoned the Plotblade that Onyx was holding?
  22. X felt the pillar shatter. For a moment, the world hung, frozen, each splinter of black suspended in a field of grey. And then the silence was gone, and the noises of the battle flooded in- people screaming, running, dying... I failed, he thought numbly. I failed... He stared at his hands. Both of them bore jagged crosses across the palm now. They burned. His gaze lifted up to stare at Kaos's messenger of destruction, and something stirred within him. He stood up. The sounds of the battle still raged all around, but he couldn't hear them anymore. There was a new sound in his mind drowning it out. DESTROY HER. X's eyes faded to pure black as he raised a trembling hand. With a shriek of rage, a beam of pure black fire ripped from his hand. It burned the air to void as it streaked towards Emma. @The Wandering Wizard
  23. "Indeed," agreed Onyx, walking over to the spear of dark crystal. "Ah," remarked Onyx. "An Echo." He reached into the pillar of light, which buzzed around his hand, and removed the spear.
  24. X conjured a wall in front of Lark's face. He took a deep breath, the lines on his skin pulsing in sync with the fading light of the pillar. It called to him. Around him, people of all shapes and sizes fought and fell to darkness. He could hear their screams, muted as they were through the grey. Just as the Kaos was infecting the pillar, it was infecting this place, and the people who lived here. Their pain hammered at his thoughts, threatening to shatter his concentration and leave him vulnerable. He pushed it away. I just need to get to the pillar, he thought. If I can do that, I can protect it. As the thought crossed his mind, he realized it was true. How it could be true, he had no idea, but it was incontrovertible. He could save the Clinic. He could save everyone. All he needed to do was get to the pillar. He turned to Matra. He couldn't speak, but there was more than one way to communicate. He looked towards Emma and Lark, then back to her, gaze questioning. @Shadowed
