I can't relate to people who make stupid decisions based on "love". I will be sorely disappointed in Brandon if he decides to use such a tacky and overplayed idea to create tension in his work. He is so much of a better writer than that. I read fantasy, not romance. Keep it subtle and away from the plot.

My understanding is that the flashback characters for the last five will be (in no particular order) Jasnah Navani Lift Renarin Kaladin This is compiled from my recollection of WoB saying at different times that these characters will have flashback books but that they wont be part of the first five (and that Kaladin would have a second flashback book) Jasnah and Renarin are the ones I think will be interesting in this discussion

Sorry, don't have time to read the entire thread, has any thoughts been put into the fact that if you cut Roshar in half vertically and rotate one of the halves 180 degrees that they appear to be very similar in shape and the geographical locations of islands, hills and lakes? They seem almost identical especially if you consider that (iirc) the highstorms drop more crem when they first make landfall and that the discrepancies may be due to additional crem deposits on the eastern half and erosion on the western?

Haven't found it on the shelves but I'll keep looking, Thanks! Edit: Found it!

Your Unspecialties or Undesirable Specialties...
Brendan replied to Iredomi's topic in General Discussion
I spectacularly fail at recollecting the correct words for common sayings. ie. I don't say "That came out of left field", instead I say something along the lines of "that came out of west park"... It can lead to some fairly confusing discussions especially since I never realise I am doing it! -
It's a great thing to read Mistborn for the first time, it is amazing. Welcome from another Aussie. This place has a load of wonders for any Sanderson fan!

Your Favorite High Fantasy Books
Brendan replied to ProfessorMLyon's topic in Entertainment Discussion
Wow, really? I loved the Hobbs early books, not a huge fan of the stuff she has written in the last 10 years, but that early stuff was amazing! I really enjoyed Maggie Furey's books and Kate Forsyth's a great Australian author who really hit her stride in her second series. Plus many of those already mentioned -
Ended up rereading the Scalzi's Old Man's War trilogy, I really enjoy them for a nice easy read. Finally started on Leviathan Wakes and thus far it s really annoying me that I've got 30+ new books to read but it looks like I'll be going out next week to buy book 2 rather than reading the books I already own! ><
-
I've got 3-4 months of books to catch up on now I've done with WoT, started with some Sci Fi (Starship Troopers and then Jack Campbell's most recent book) probably going to hit up Leviathan Wakes tomorrow. I'll take me a while to get through my back log, I have 2 whole shelves of books I've not read!

Very excited that he's back onto Stormlight! Very glad that there will not be outriggers/prequels (although sad that we'll not get Tam's story) as Brandon will be able to get his own stuff out. So glad that Brandon took on WoT, he did an amazing job and allowed me to find his own books and enjoy them in turn. I have friends who I then put onto his work who refuse to read WoT who have certainly been a bit cranky waiting for his books tho!

Loved the Thom scene and Noal!

I'm still floating 18 hours after having finished it, spent all of last night dreaming about WoT and most of today thinking about it. Definitely going to reread it in a few weeks to go through it again to see a couple of things, like I do not recall Sulin being mentioned at all in the book, did anyone else recall if she was mentioned?!?
-
Finished it, so content right now. Sad, happy, frazzled! Feeling everything right now but happy with the book myself, how about you?

Just started New Spring (Halted ToM at the point where they enter the tower - saving that for the tram ride into the city to pick up my book on Tuesday) Can't wait to read aMoL, I've taken two days off just to read it (an will be staying away from the internet to avoid spoilers until I have finished it!!) Over 15 years of waiting for me, it's been a long ride!
-
Halfway through the prologue and I keep waiting for the bits that I remember streeeeeeetching out for evvvvvvvvvvvvver on my first read of the last few books, and other than the stuff from Faile's viewpoint in book 10 I'm yet to find it. I feel that the pacing reading the books straight through is much better than I thought it was in comparison to reading each book as it came out (this is my first reread since the one I did for when book 9 came out). When you are waiting 4 or 5 years for a book nothing much seems to happen in it but if you are reading a book every two weeks and can go straight to the next the pacing seems perfect! So looking forward to next month, I'm a little behind where I wanted to be for my reread but having 2 and a half weeks off before the book comes out I'm sure I'll have time to be able to finish for the 8th! Only two days off once it comes out before I'm back to work tho, so I'll need to ensure I do nothing but read!

Sanderson would do whatever Jordan left in his notes, irrelevant of what he has written himself in the past
-
Yamato, do you read that fast while studying? That'd make life much easier!
-
You can add 'River of Souls' in "Unfettered", release date spring 2013 (NH). Those who don't know this is an arc deleted from aMoL for pacing reasons, from the PoV from a 'well known' minor character, let the speculations begin on who, I already have my theory from the arc title!
-
E. Hyde, that would be sweet, the clothes described in the books are amazing, bonus points if you draw up some of them!

Brent Weeks, The Lightbringer Series
Brendan replied to Catalyst21's topic in Entertainment Discussion
I enjoyed book 2, however I don't think it was as well written as book 1 (although I didn't do a reread of book 1 so my memory is hazy and I'm rereading WoT atm so I'm comparing his writing skills to Jordan which is a little unfair) Still very much worth reading and I'm looking forawrd to book 3! -
I always forget how much I love the Perrin sequences in this book, something about his tale here grips me every time I read it.
-
Brandon, thank you again for writing such truly wonderful books. a ) Now that you have finished writing WoT, how does it feel going back to telling your epic story that you have wanted to share with the world and being able to write a story naturally without the outside constraints that came with WoT? What if anything has been the biggest challenge getting back into writing Stormlight Archives after working so hard on WoT? b ) What are the chances of another tour here in Australia in the next five years? Keep writing and we'll keep reading!

17th Shard Forum Q&A with Brandon Sanderson! (Update)
Brendan commented on Rubix's article in Events, Signings, & Giveaways
A little annoying that the time the thread will be open I have to be asleep or at work (I'm in Australia so it's midnight to 6pm here) a 24 hour time period would of been nice! If I think of I questin I want asked, I'll PM someone I guess, any volunteers?
