What is the pink crystal? That is what I really want to know.

    It’s an Aether.

Mraize's Basement Emporium. Is that more like a trophy room or a "In case of emergencies" room?

    Multiple people[PENDING REVIEW]

    Or a bank vault?

    Or a weapon's vault?

    Or both?

    Brandon Sanderson[PENDING REVIEW]

    So, yes.

    *multiple people talking*

I mean, he can't use the Aether, right? He can't use the Aether, he doesn't have an Aether. But the sand, the sand does stuff. So a handful of sand is a really useful amount of sand to have if you're not a sandmaster. Because sand reacts to investiture. So if you let it fade and you take it somewhere, as soon as investiture goes kinetic, it'll turn white again. So you'll be able to use it to tell who's using inve..it works just like a Seeker, like bronze pulses.

So having white sand, having sand around is really good. If you can keep the little beasties that are growing on the sand around, they will react to basically the investiture equivalent of radiation. So that's handy.

It could be an echo from the spiritual realm. Nal explains to Szeth that the voices he hears are echos from the spiritual realm, and this would match the voices Dalinar heard after the Rift. So it could be Dalinar connecting to a the ideal of Evi that exist in the spiritual realm.

I think so, mostly because pre-Nightwatcher Dalinar also hears similar screams including her voice. So it’s not such a stretch to imagine that the voices could come back in a different way.

Does the fact that Mraize (who is a worldhopper) says that his cloak is stained with ‘aether’ related?

Yep. Also the orange crystal in his lair in WoR is the Amberite Aether... it’s popped up a few times so far.

You've said before that the Horneaters are hybrids, half-human--

    Brandon Sanderson

Not really half any more, but yeah.

    BlackYeti

Are there any other hybrid creatures, would you consider the koloss to be this? Koloss-blooded.

    Brandon Sanderson

Not really, I don't consider them, but the Herdazians also have a bit of Parshendi in them.

    source

I like the theory! Just for the record, Herdazian fingernails come from their Parshendi ancestry. I’m not sure about the source of some of the other variations you mentioned, though.

  5. Unfortunately, I haven’t learned the little trick that lets you insert WoBs all nice-looking, but here’s one that implies that when you get your Blade (and Plate by association) can vary from order to order (in other words, it’s not always on the 4th Oath).

    Questioner

Do you have to have done the third oath before you can convert your spren into a Blade?

    Brandon Sanderson

    In most orders, yes.

    Questioner

What about Shallan then? Did she do it, cause she was a kid when she first--

    Brandon Sanderson

Yes, um... you will find out more.

    ———————————————

As for your theory about how Shardplate would function differently on a live Radiant who owns it, I’m betting it wouldn’t suck Stormlight, but rather be powered by some kind of spren, which were later replaced by the gemstone/fabrials currently in the Plate  I could be totally wrong about that though.

  6. Suddenly the air above the island seems to twist in on itself, and a man falls from the knot in reality to the ground. Walking over to @Gancho Libre, he placed a glass of lemonade on the ground near him and muttered, “When I promised to always be where I was needed, this is not what I had in mind.” Then he stepped off the side of the island...

and fell through another rift in the fabric of the Alleyverse, possibly never to be seen again.

I wonder what an Inquisitor would see on Roshar, since most of the ground is stone/crem, and what the mineral/metal content of said stone/crem would be...

Here’s a relevant WoB: (sorry I can’t seem to figure out how to insert it all pretty-looking like everyone else)

    Questioner[PENDING REVIEW]

    Has stormwater tasted metallic always?

    Brandon Sanderson[PENDING REVIEW]

    Yes.

    Questioner[PENDING REVIEW]

    Even pre-Shattering?

    Brandon Sanderson[PENDING REVIEW]

Even pre-Shattering it would get a metallic taste, that's the crem. So. That is an indication of Investiture and things. But it was there-- it was in place first, before.

    source

This seems to imply that crem has at least some metal in it, and therefore Inquisitors would be able to see it.

  8. Viridian(paraphrased)

I asked why Hoid gave the memory coin to Wax, what his motivation was (since it seemed to cast a more positive light on someone Hoid does not like)

    Brandon Sanderson(paraphrased)

Brandon said he did it to correct a lie that was being perpetuated.

    Viridian(paraphrased)

I said that I was still suspicious of Hoid...

    Brandon Sanderson(paraphrased)

...to which he said I should be, as those two (Hoid and Kelsier) do not get along. He said that the memory uncovered a truth that Kelsier did not want to be known.

    source

So yep, it’s Hoid. If I’m understanding your question correctly.

  9. Here are three, depending on what mood you’re going for:

Sarcastic (referring to everyone telling us how much potential we have, also yes, I know it’s not Cosmere, but it’s Sanderson):

People can do great things. However, there are some things they just CAN'T do. I, for instance, have not been able to transform myself into a Popsicle, despite years of effort. -Alcatraz vs the Evil Librarians

    Inspiring:

...A man can only stumble for so long before he either falls or stands up straight. (Well of Ascension)

    Funny:

Ah, the outdoors,' Shallan said. 'I visited that mythical place once.’ (Way of Kings)

  10. You would be able to push or pull on distinct parts of the beam. Kelsier pulls a trick like this in The Final Empire with a few metal bars in his final fight with the Inquisitor, pushing on one side and pulling in the other, causing the bars to spin rapidly in the air.
