Overall I thought the story was pretty good, but I must say I agree with a lot of your points here. I would have loved to see more action. I felt like the whole story just dragged along seemingly without end, right until the very end of the book. My biggest gripe has to be how Yumi came back to life. She gets to come back to life just because she willed it or whatever? Seems pretty weak to me. IMO the story would have ended much better if she had just died, but I guess that would have defeated the romance of the story.

I'm not sure that the Dawnshard has anything in particular to do with Edgli. Brandon has already stated in a WoB that the Heightening that we see is simply because she is so Invested and not anything to do with Nalthis or Edgli.

I'm going to have to agree with the other two. I believe it is the lesser spren, such as windspren for the Windrunners, that make up the Shardplate. They just have to reach a certain level in their oaths before they have access to it.

I always loved it from the start, but it is one of those books that you need to just keep on going until you get to the twist. Once you make it there, you're hooked.

I'm currently on my re-read of all the books before RoW comes out. I finished the Way of Kings in exactly one month, Words of Radiance took 3 weeks, and i expect i'll be around the same amount of time for OB. The first time I read OB I was so hooked I think it only took about 1 week to finish it, so we'll see how this re read goes.

It seems you are forgetting that Nale is a Herald, which according to the original post, he is excluded from this list.
