Vin's Earring and Nightblood's Sheath
Knghtstlker replied to pharaoh9000's topic in Cosmere Discussion
I realized after I sent it what I was saying. I knew what I was thinking, Ha. Just didn't come out right. But what does everyone think about Ruin driving Vin's mother to scrape some silver off to expose the bronze. That gives at least 15'ish years for the scraped silver to fleck off and look like it had been losing it's coating the whole time. They never really describe where the silver is flaking off.- 59 replies

Vin's Earring and Nightblood's Sheath
Knghtstlker replied to pharaoh9000's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Is it so hard to think that Vin's mother knew that originally it was a very cheap earring with a Bronze undercoat. Her mother was being led by ruin, "Crazy lady". He could have told her to scrape off some of the silver to expose the bronze before Spiking Vin's sister. After years of being worn, taken in and out, stored in a lock box, "We don't know at what point in her youth she took it back out to store it in the box.", It would have looked both looked to have been naturally losing more silver coating from wear, and have had an original bear spot from where her mother scraped it off.. The more the bronze was exposed perhaps the more the Hemalurgic spike became potent? It kept it's original potency because she was spiked with it immediately. These are things I can see as being Viable. Her mom scraped some silver plating off a bronze earing "As was available for a woman of vin's mother's station". just a cheap bauble. Spiked vin, and through years of wear, it slowly exposed more and more. Because it was Hemalurgical shouldn't she have been able to sense allomantic pulses without burning metals. The Seeker Spike should have given her the ability interly without metals right?- 59 replies

An interesting topic. Does someone have some kind of Base Table that we can use to ponder on some Twinborn combinations like a Skimmer and a Coinshot is called a Crasher, Leaving out Compounding for now. I realize it's kind of daunting. But that's what makes a community fed one so much more fun. Everyone gets a chance to input something. In one of the other threads, I proposed Juggernaut - Thug+Bloodmaker Burning Pewter while tapping Health, makes him Strong, Balanced, Fast, and very hard to put down. Ignoring wounds that would otherwise kill him. Healing the wounds just as quickly as they would form "If someone managed to hit his Pewter enhanced body".

If you were a twinborn, what would you like to be?
Knghtstlker replied to Lord Bookwyrm's topic in Mistborn
Yes, but once the lungs are full of water the damage will be constant, It will drain a charge quite quickly I think. Maybe not a Viable means of execution but at the very least a stasis cell. It would work best on a compounder, because other than an amazing healing capability, they really don't have much else. No way to push or pull, no reserve of strength. I don't know the names of all the twinborn combinations, but if I had to name one a "Juggernaut" it would be a Thug-Blood Maker. The strength to ignore pain the Gold to heal wounds. He would be an extremely capable warrior on the field as well as burning pewter to offset physical ailments of storing health itself. The enormous amount of Health he can store on his down days would offset the amount of damage he could ignore in battle by quite a bit.- 155 replies

If you were a twinborn, what would you like to be?
Knghtstlker replied to Lord Bookwyrm's topic in Mistborn
Do you think you could drown a Gold Compounder? I genuinely thought Wax was going to use the Net on Miles and toss him in the water to hold him Captive until re-enforcements arrive. Breath, is not the same as health, Feruchemically. He would unconditionally heal of course, but while his lungs damage from the water would be repaired, the symptom would not be fixed. Something like this wouldn't work against TLR, but Miles could have been contained in Water I think. If I was in fact Twin Born, I think a Pewter compounder would be a little redundant, Pewter Arms tend to be pretty strong, but Sazed Swoll put them to shame, I think I'd prefer to have Feruchemical Pewter and burn Bendalloy. Making my Strength matter in tight quarters, you can dial in exactly how much strength you need to defeat any opponent, making it much more efficient, instead of Super Swol, just adjust how much you tap based on individual opponent. Although it's hard to Deny Wax's own capabilities. TLR would be fun as well, Making use of all Metals on both sides of the spectrum. If TLR had not pierced himself with Metal to keep it from other Allomancers, do you think TLR would still stand? Just curious.- 155 replies

I believe Sazed specifically says they should have already had Radio's. But the fact that the Paradise that Sazed has created has limited their need for invention.

What Sanderswear has crept into your vocabulary? Even if it’s an internal monologue...?? Even though I read Stormlight Archives, and Mistborn first, Warbreaker’s exclamation “Colors Man!” Is heard in my head constantly. I even hear a gruff Zahel read by Michael Kramer saying it.

Is there any thing in Stormlight you don't like?
Knghtstlker replied to ICanDream's topic in Stormlight Archive
I wanted to skip every interlude ever. I didn't like most of them, I understand the purpose and what they needed to convey. I even paid attention to them "The second time". Although I didn't skip them the first time. Just did not like the break and build and break and build and then sometimes jump right back into the story. Just my opinion. I like intense things and the interludes ruined the intensity a few times for me. -

Does anyone have anything to add to any of these? Perhaps Hemalurgical differences? They can be used to pass both Feruchemy and Allomancy correct? I distinctly remember them Only able to take one power at a time, which is why they prefer to take Mistings instead of Mistborn to create Steel Inquisitors. So does that mean that in theory someone out there? Possibly Marsh? Has All possible combinations? Is this answered in Era 2? I'm halfway through the second book. Which means there is still quite a lot of explanation to go I'm sure. Does anyone have any insight to offer that doesn't spoil Era 2? Haha! Please just give me a Rafo if there is a further in depth explanation further on. Again please leave all spoilers out for Mistborn Era 2. As I'm just not quite there yet. Is there anyone who can perhaps link to some kind of Infographic "If there is one" or a Table of some kind that explains more and perhaps possible Twin Born Combinations? I'm sure there are quite a few, Even a few that can no longer be identified "Currently", because to my knowledge Atium is all gone. lol. LIST OF METALS ALUMINUM: A Mistborn who burns aluminum instantly metabolizes all of his or her metals without giving any other effect, wiping all Allomantic reserves. Mistings who can burn aluminum are called Aluminum Gnats due to the ineffectiveness of this ability by itself. Trueself Ferrings can store their spiritual sense of identity in an aluminum metalmind. This is an art rarely spoken of outside of Terris communities, and even among them, it is not yet well understood. Aluminum itself and a few of its alloys are Allomantically inert; they cannot be Pushed or Pulled and can be used to shield an individual from emotional Allomancy. BENDALLOY: Slider Mistings burn bendalloy to compress time in a bubble around themselves, making it pass more quickly within the bubble. This causes events outside the bubble to move at a glacial pace from the point of view of the Slider. Subsumer Ferrings can store nutrition and calories in a bendalloy metalmind; they can eat large amounts of food during active storage without feeling full or gaining weight, and then can go without the need to eat while tapping the metalmind. A separate bendalloy metalmind can be used to similarly regulate fluids intake. BRASS: Soother Mistings burn brass the soothe (dampen) the emotions of nearby individuals. This can be directed at a single individual or directed across a general area, and the Soother can focus on specific emotions. Firesoul Ferrings can store warmth in a brass metalmind, cooling themselves off while actively storing. They can tap the metalmind at a later time to warm themselves. BRONZE: Seeker Mistings burn brass to "hear" pulses given off by other Allomancers who are burning metals. Different metals produce different pulses. Sentry Ferrings can store wakefulness in a bronze metalmind, making themselves drowsy while actively storing. They can tap the metalmind at a later time to reduce drowsiness or to heighten their awareness. CADMIUM: Pulser Mistings burn cadmium to stretch time in a bubble around themselves, making it pass more slowly inside the bubble. This causes events outside the bubble to move at blurring speed from the point of view of the Pulser. Gasper Ferrings can store breath inside a cadmium metalmind; during active storage they must hyperventilate in order for their bodies to get enough air. The breath can be retrieved at a later time, eliminating or reducing the need to breathe using the lungs while tapping the metalmind. They can also highly oxygenate their blood. CHROMIUM: Leecher Mistings who burn chromium while touching another Allomancer will wipe that Allomancer's metal reserves. Spinner Ferrings can store fortune in a chromium metalmind, making themselves unlucky during active storage, and can tap it at a later time to increase their luck. COPPER: Coppercloud Mistings (also known as Smokers) burn copper to create an invisible cloud around themselves, which hides nearby Allomancers from being detected by a Seeker and which shields nearby individuals from the effects of emotional Allomancy. Archivist Ferrings can store memories in a copper metalmind (coppermind); the memory is gone from their head while in storage, and can be retrieved with perfect recall at a later time. DURALUMIN: A Mistborn who burns duralumin instantly burns away any other metals being burned at the same time, releasing an enormous bursts of those metals' power. Mistings who can burn Duralumin are called Duralumin Gnats due to the ineffectiveness of this ability by itself. Connector Ferrings can store spiritual connection in a duralumin metalmind, reducing other people's awareness and friendship with them during active storage, and can tap it at a later time in order to speedily form trust relationships with others. ELECTRUM: Oracle Mistings burn electrum to see a vision of possible paths their future could take. This is usually limited to a few seconds. Pinnacle Ferrings can store determination in an electrum metalmind, entering a depressed state during active storage, and can tap it at a later time to enter a manic phase. GOLD: Auger Mistings burn gold to see a vision of a past self or how they would have turned out having made different choices in the past. Bloodmaker Ferrings can store health in a gold metalmind, reducing their health while actively storing, and can tap it at a later time in order to heal quickly or to heal beyond the body's usual abilities. IRON: Lurcher Mistings who burn iron can Pull on nearby sources of metal. Pulls must be directly toward the Lurcher's center of gravity. Skimmer Ferrings can store physical weight in an iron metalmind., reducing their effective weight while actively storing, and can tap it at a later time to increase their effective weight. NICROSIL: Nicroburst Misitings who burn nicrosil while touching another Allomancer will instantly burn away any metals being burned by that Allomancer, releasing an enormous (and perhaps unexpected) burst of those metals' power within that Allomancer. Soulbearer Ferrings can store Investiture in a nicrosil metalmind. This is a power that very few know anything about; indeed, I'm certain the people of Terris don't truly know what they are doing when they use these powers. PEWTER: Pewterarm Mistings (also known as Thugs) burn pewter to increase their physical strength, speed, and durability, also enhancing their bodies' ability to heal. Brute Ferrings can store physical strength in a pewter metalmind, reducing their strength while actively storing, and can tap it at a later time to increase their strength. STEEL: Coinshot Mistings who burn steel can Push on nearby sources of metal. Pushes must be directly away from the Coinshot's center of gravity. Steelrunner Ferrings can store physical speed in a steel metalmind, slowing them while actively storing, and can tap it at later time to increase their speed. TIN: Tineye Mistings who burn tin increase the sensitivity of their five senses. All are increased at the same time. Windwhisperer Ferrings can store the sensitivity of one of the five sense in a tin metalmind; a different tin metalmind must be used for each sense. While storing, their sensitivity in that sense is reduced, and when the metalmind is tapped that sense is enhanced. ZINC: Rioter Mistings burn zinc to riot (enflame) the emotions of nearby individuals. This can be directed at a single individual or directed across a general area, and the Rioter can focus on specific emotions. Sparker Ferrings can store mental speed in a zinc metalmind, dulling their ability to think and reason while actively storing, and can tap it at a later time to think and reason more quickly.

I am wondering if anyone has a threshold list of reputation awarded on this site, can you have negative reputation, I'm very new, but have heard of a Zuchini who sounds like he maybe made a lot of people very angry. I am also wondering if you get Reputation by posting things sometimes as well? Or if it's based solely off of other Users Posts. Anyone? Edit: I only just made a connection on how similar Reputation here seems to be similar to Breaths, in that you only get one, and other people have to will it to you. Humorous in my mind, Also. Is Reputation based on what forums you frequent? I.E. Dark Eyes and Skaa are two different realms.

Shallan - Possibly Crazy Origin Theory
Knghtstlker replied to ScavellTane's topic in Stormlight Archive
I have not read Edgedancer, but based on my knowledge of the books, at least Three of the Davar's prior to Shallan's knowledge of the existence of the Ghostbloods were associated with the Ghostbloods, Her Brother, Mother, and Father. Though I too am curious as to what lie brought Pattern to Shallan, I'd be interested to hear more about your theory, but thus far seems far fetched. Shallan wasn't Just a Surgebinder, She to the knowledge of her Mother, the First Surgebinder she had ever heard of on Roshar that was alive. Perhaps her mother feared what that meant. Jasnah had not discovered her surgebindings until at the very least around the time of the death of Gavilar. Kaladin began feeling his Surges when he was much younger, He in his very early 20's and Shallan I believe was stated to be 17 or 18 years old. That makes Shallan possibly one of the First to exhibit surgebinding in this new period of magix altogether. Though there is an interlude of an elderly man also exhibiting Surgebindings, it is not stated how long he had been healing children's feet. Anyone else have any input? If that was the case though, why didn't the Ghostbloods hear from Lin about it? Was it pre-meditated, or did the onset of perhaps another world shattering event with VoidBringers and Thunderclasts bring Lin's mind to snap? These are the real questions I think should have been brought up. The Ghostbloods don't seem inherently involved on killing Surgebinders, though someone out there is. It's not stated if it's the Ghostbloods or not, even inviting Shallan "Or Rather Veil" to continue to meet with the Ghost Bloods and see what they have to say. A quick google says that the last Desolation that occurred 4500 years ago. So why is the year quoted as in the 1170's? Anyone else have any theories? -

What cosmere works can you see as a good show?
Knghtstlker replied to Kari's question in Cosmere Q&A
I think first Era would be an Awesome two or three movie if it's done well, and they can do a TV Spinoff of Era 2, Even though I'd love to see all of them to be made into LoTR Style Trilogies or something, I don't know if it would have the backing and audience for them to go all in on Mistborn, I think if they made a high dollar Contract to do three, it would be awesome. I would prefer Era 1 over Era 2, However. I stand by my opinion, that Warbreaker I think would be the easiest and most sensible movie to start with, you could have some absolute powerhouses in the movie because well, they're gods, the effects would be easier to do on a smaller budget I think, and it would introduce some interesting characters essential to the Cosmere, like Hoid and Nightblood. I also think that the only way to get WoK and WoR, and eventually Oathbringer on the Screen would be through a HBO tv series, but it does need to get to at least book 5 before there is any viable Beginning middle End. -
One last time before I continue Arcanum Unbound
Knghtstlker replied to Knghtstlker's question in Cosmere Q&A
Yes!, I'm halfway through Shadows of Self already, I'm definitely going to have time to finish BoM in time for me to get AU, even if it will delay my reading Oathbringer. Thank you all for your input, It put into perspective the interconnectedness of the books I needed to read, and without anyone spoiling anything. -
What characters would you want to meet each other?
Knghtstlker replied to kiapet's question in Cosmere Q&A
Jasnah and STICK! I'd love to see how frustrated she gets with Stick! Or Perhaps Introduce Jasnah to Harmony, give her an Earing and see what she has to say about Gods then. -
One last time before I continue Arcanum Unbound
Knghtstlker replied to Knghtstlker's question in Cosmere Q&A
Something I had not considered, was just buying the books out of rotation for Era 2, I had not realized they were not long epics like the first three, in fact all three books combined are just barely as long as WoK or WoR, So I have plenty of time to read all three of them. I'm listening to Alloy of Law now, and have the other two Queued, I'm super excited, sadly I will have to delay Oathbringer and just Queue it so I can read through Arcanum Unbound when I get it on the 15th of November, and Oathbringer comes out on Nov. 14th. However when I finish Oathbringer I will be very pleased with myself. "Also I'll need a book for the plane 20+Hour Plane ride home", and nothing murders a 20 hour flight quite as soundly as a Stormlight Archives novel. The Way of Kings killed my plane ride over here. I should be home sometime before Christmas, though when I don't know. With the completion of the 2nd Era of Mistborn Novels I believe I'll have all the requisite reading completed to make sure I'm not left in the dark on the short stories, and prepared for future novels released. I'm elated that Brandon Sanderson was introduced to me in my time on this deployment, I had been away from reading to pass my time, I've been so caught up with completing my education on top of my Military career, and my family that I often let my Fantasy novels gather dust. I think I'm too deep entrenched now to ever let another Sanderson Novel go unread, as well as introducing the Young adult novels to my children. -
I'm only a few chapters into Era 2, though I'm halfway inclined to agree with you, but there are some terribly overlooming spoilers, and some pretty deep magical explenations to do. The only way I can see it working is if they either A, don't explain that the magic exists, only assume we know why until the explanation of the Shards of Adolnasium comes out on a larger scale. Or B, Preface it with Hoid the world hopper or Sazed, to either explain why the magic exist, and about investiture, shards, and other things. Either way they'll have to Marvel the hell out of it and sign a few very important characters to be the "Face" of the franchise. It would be upsetting to see a recurring character played by a different person in every movie. Hoid doesn't even have too much to say or do in any book series other than Stormlight Archives, Hoid is vital to the Cosmere. It would be nice if they Marvel'd the rust out of the Cosmere, but as long as it is done well. I hope they are able to envision the cosmere not just a one off movie with shady casting. We as Brandon Sanderson Fans have to remember one thing above all else. MOVIES, Never do BOOKS Justice, Ever. We can only hope enough of the movie makes the cut to make sense, and that the movie does well so they make more Cosmere movies.
-
How can we guarantee it hasn't already happened, they said they seem to take a different form upon returning, and have no memories of prior abilities. They only get one breath, when they die they lose it, so they only get one breath back. Who's to say a vitally important TRAIT, isn't just recycled until someone else exemplifies the trait in a stronger fashion, then that returned is released of his/her role as "Returned".
-
I think Mistborn would be a great movie option, though not the best of the Brandon Sanderson books options to start with. Personally I think Warbreaker would be the best to cut the teeth of the general populous. It's got some great undertones, and can introduce some important characters and themes into the world. Mistborn would be great eventually as well as Stormlight archives. Though I dread what would wind up on the cutting room floor.
