I would strap two Shardblades to the arms of a Chasmfiend that has the Stormfather in its Gemheart using Lerasium chains awakened with the command "Use a Splash Attack"

I have a feeling that the color red represents the Investiture of a foreign Shard. I sort of want to ask Brandon what color a KR's eyes would be on a different planet, assuming they have their Spren with them.

First Thing You're Going to do With Oathbringer
Fourth Of The Night replied to MistbornAlpaca's topic in Stormlight Archive
Get it signed, hopefully get a creative RAFO and/or new info on the Kandra, then check out the art and listen to the audiobook. This'll be the first physical SA book for me, and only the second physical Cosmere piece! (White Sand is the other one, since there is no audiobook for the entire comic XP) (Also, for those who are priced out of the audiobooks, use Audible! It's only $14 per book at one a month, and I think you get 3 credits free when you sign up. I've listened to dozens of books by just spending $14 a month for a few years and only buying the books without credits when they're on a sale that reduces them below $14.)- 46 replies

Could be done a couple of ways: #1 People play the various Highprinces, and compete for Gemhearts, Shards, and other Loot, which function as Victory Points. #2 People play the various Highprinces and cooperatively fight the Listeners, with the win/loss being the defeat of the Listeners before the Everstorm is summoned or capturing the Oathgate and escaping before their destruction by the storm. #3 Two people play, one as the Listeners, one as the Alethi, with similar VP's as in #1.

Favourite Rosharan foods!
Fourth Of The Night replied to Dysphoric Kitten's topic in Stormlight Archive
Actually, now that I think of it: Soulcast food would -not- be vegan because the Gemhearts that are used in Soulcasting come from animals! Can mined gems hold Stormlight?- 19 replies

Fights you would like to see?
Fourth Of The Night replied to Toaster Retribution's topic in General Brandon Discussion
Couldn't a Leecher + Primer cube beat TLR? Wipe his metal reserves and he can no longer compound Atium, and thus dies? -
Riffraff...bridgeman. I don't buy that. If only they'd look closer, would they see a shash brand? No Syl, they'd find out there's so much more..to me.

#21 is absolutely and demonstrably false. MeLaan is the literal best woman that exists.

Ah you're right on the first point-she swaps her single spike for the Trell spike, my bad on that one. Where are you getting the idea that a Kandra could use any two Hemalurgic Spikes? Kandra Blessings are very specific spikes, as far as I am aware-and I seem to remember it being mentioned that they were very difficult to make. Yes, there are only 4 kinds of Blessings, and Brandon has said there are additional Blessings that could be made, but I haven't seen any information that says that any two Hemalurgic Spikes could be used.

I don't believe that is correct. Each Blessing is referred to based on the power it gives the Kandra. A Blessing of Potency is two Iron spikes, as shown by TenSoon recovering OreSeur's Blessing of Potency in Chapter 39 of HoA-They are both Iron. The spikes need to both be Iron to be a Blessing of Potency, this is also reinforced in the HoA Epigraph for 40 when Sazed talks about each pair of the 4 Iron spikes needed to create a Koloss would be called a Blessing of Potency by a Kandra. Bleeder is a special case, and she is insane when she uses a single spike of her Blessing and a single spike from Trell.

That is why I said that perhaps each Kandra needs, as a base, the Blessings used to make them Kandra originally. Yes, they are paired. A single Blessing is two spikes. See: https://coppermind.net/wiki/Kandra#Blessings . I can't recall where in the text of Mistborn it specifies that a Blessing is composed of two spikes, but it's one of TenSoon's chapters. Edit: Also, TenSoon gave ReLuur a single one of his spikes, not an entire Blessing.

I think that is because the Blessings are paired. You couldn't replace one of a pair of Blessings with one from a separate pair. Perhaps each Kandra is tuned in to their Blessing, and if they solely used another they would be different, but that doesn't mean that once they die their Blessings couldn't be used to make another Kandra.

Odium escapes Rosharan system after SA 5
Fourth Of The Night replied to Walin's topic in Cosmere Discussion
I wonder if a Surgebinder's eyes would be reddish on another world...I kinda want to add that to my list of questions for the Oathbringer signing. That might be a sneaky way to get another clue. -
Ooooooooooooooooooooooh. I really like the cut of your jib here. This sounds pretty great to me, especially because SA takes place before Era 2.
-
No, that can't be right. Otherwise, how would TenSoon use OreSeur's Blessings? Edit: Also, we know that each Mistwraith has their own consciousness separate from the Blessings, and that the Blessings just allow that consciousness to function properly, see MeLaan regaining her spike in BoM.

The only physical book you'll need is White Sand, since it's a graphic novel! I've listened to all of the cosmere books, though I'll finally have a physical copy since I'm going to the Oathbringer signing in November for my birthday!

I know what hair is, I'm a biochemist. <3. TenSoon grew fur? I thought he just harvested the fur from the wolfhound? He even remarks on the fifth's giving him the bones, hair, and nails from his wolfhound body when he escapes the Homeland. MeLaan also says that they cannot grow hair in SoS. Everything said in novel AFAIK (I am only on SoS for my re-listening of Mistborn, though, and just past the MeLaan quote about Kandra "Not doing hair", hence the resurgence of my curiosity.) leads us to believe that Kandra cannot grow hair. If this is the case, it makes no sense biologically since they can mimic biological functions of a body. The production of hair from Follicles is a normal biological function. If it truly is because growing hair/nails takes real-time production, then that makes sense.
-
Alright, this is something that bothers me a lot, especially after the other week where I found out that a Kandra can mimic gametes and a Kandra in a female body could also go through a full pregnancy and birth a viable human offspring: Why can Kandra not grow hair? If they can mimic every single other part of a human body, and even produce a viable offspring with mimiced gametes, why is a single protein a problem? Does anyone have any insight into this? Can someone ease my suffering, or does this have to wait until I'm rabid with anticipation at the Oathbringer signing line?

Your superior attitude adds nothing to the discussion, either. It actually hinders it, so maybe take our advice? This implies that his spearfighting ability does not come from the bond, that it comes from his practice and talent. Yes, his increased physical capabilities absolutely affect his abilities, but that does not mean they come from the bond. We don't know, but I do not believe that it means he was already bonded. To me, it means that they knew of his potential. The bond doesn't happen before a spren finds the person, as far as we know. We know that spren are aware of candidates for the bond from Wyndle and the Cultivationspren council deciding who they wanted to send him to. Honorspren are linked to windspren somehow, so why is it so hard to believe that the windspren acknowledged Kal's candidacy and relayed it to Syl, subconsciously?
-
Because you are being needlessly combative and rude. Reign yourself in, dude, we're all friends connected by the love of an artist's works. We're big kids and can disagree without slinging vitriol, kolo? That isn't the implication that I got. As mentioned by @Starla above, Syl says that she searched for Kal for a long time before finding him about a year before she first spoke to him. Yes, the fact that he is a literal paragon with the spear is due to his bond, but he is himself a very knowledgeable spearfighter. As I said before, and you brushed away seemingly without much thought: Depression is Hell. Intense depression, coupled with the fact that he was heavily injured would do more to Kal that you seem to be willing to admit. Also, while Kal's spearfighting ability isn't based in his bond-He is used to his spear forms while he has it. That means that he would move his body in a way that assumes he has the extra speed, strength, and balance of someone with the bond. Suddenly not having access to those three things, on top of his crippling depression and injury? I absolutely see why he was unable to perform. But that doesn't mean that his knowledge of spearfighting is because of his bond.
