  1. That would make a lot of sense.
  2. I don't think it being on screen makes a difference, it's the fact that it happened that's the issue. He's ok showing a kid get killed. From Mistborn, although I don't think it's really a spoiler for anything.
  3. It's probably just the ordering assassinations, the draining of people's (who won't be missed) blood to maybe get DeathRattles, and the causing an entire kingdom to fall into chaos resulting in a bloody civil war so he could take the throne. Other than that I agree, he seems like a pretty decent guy.
  4. @Spicker Yeah, I agree, that Dalinar totally could've done it. But BS has shown a kid being killed in his books before (and in a pretty gruesome way). I don't think he'd hesitate to write that scene. His books are generally not as "gritty" as other modern fantasy books, but he hasn't restrained from showing violence.
  5. Why not show the scene of him killing the kid if he did it? That combined with some of Dalinar's thoughts makes me think he spared the kid.
  6. Loved everything about the first chapter. Syl is the best. Glad we got a little more of Renarin. Reading him from Adolin's perspective vs Shallan's perspective is night and day. That part also kills some of the Renarin is going to end up a villain talk. That's the one thing about getting a few chapters each week, it's so easy to overanalyze every scene. Regarding the Azir issue. Spoiler for Edgedancer. And there goes my Elhokar is being turned into a villain theory (well for now anyway). I can't see the Mr. T thing going well at all. I have no clue what to think about him. I don't think he'll actively try to assassinate Dalinar now (how could he?) but I can't see him just agreeing to follow him. I really want to understand the NightWatcher more. And I wonder if we'll get to meet a new radiant.
  7. This is something I really hope to see at some point. While I'm a fan of Shallan-Kaladin getting together at some point (I wouldn't say I'm shipping them but their scenes together were my favorite parts of WoR aside from the dueling scene so I'm hoping to see more of that) what I really want to see is how Syl and Pattern react to each other and in general how do radiant-spren interact, if they do.
  8. Chaos could just as easily work in the Ghostbloods favor. Especially if it means people are too busy searching for a serial killer to pay attention to other things. This seems more personal than that to me, but it could still work to their advantage. Especially since they thrive on information and with people getting murdered the exploration of Urithiru will probably slow down a good bit. There's got to be some important information in that place somewhere after all.
  9. @heroofpages I don't think we know anything about him yet. But someone pointed out earlier that a guy named Perel used the expression 'treading water' (and had to explain what it meant to Adolin) and someone named Perel gets killed in a bath chamber, which seems way too coincidental. Apparently they're two different people (the former was under Adolin's command and therefore would've been Kholin) but that's a funny coincidence if the naming was unintentional on BS's part.
  10. Well given that him and Sadeas had a wrestling match before Adolin killed him, is it possible Adolin left some evidence on the body that would cast him under suspicion? Maybe something as simple as him using the knife with his left hand? Remember that the body supposedly wasn't found for a day, so someone we don't know about could've come across it. I do think the most plausible explanation right now is that whoever the murderer is knows it's Adolin and is sending him a message. Also, it'd help to know who the victim (Perel) is. I think your suspects are the most likely right now (Ghostbloods and Ialai).
  11. Could that be what happened when Dalinar saw the vision of Odium's champion? Maybe that's why Renarin looked so spooked. He saw that image and somehow Dalinar saw it too in his vision?
  12. Yeah, but that's more of a distrust thing. Like, people who cheat tend to be the ones who suspect cheating. I don't think Shallan fits that mold.
  13. Oh, I'm sure she won't be happy, but while I think there will be a big conflict between them at some point, I don't think it'll directly relate to him killing Sadeas or lying to her about it.
  14. First post here. I'm glad Kaladin seems to be taking his new oath to heart. I was a little disappointed about his interaction with Laral but I don't think we've seen the last of her (not that she'll be super important, just that she'll be in a few more Kaladin scenes). I think we got some foreshadowing with Laral saying Kaladin just like his dad, trying to save people even if they want him to leave them alone (I don't know how but I wonder if this ends up relating to his next Ideal). And no, I don't think Kaladin's new brother is the antichrist. Also the thing about sending glyphs to let Dalinar know he's safe makes me wonder who is going to have to go and rescue Kaladin. I do hope Hesina ends up taking Kaladin up on his offer for safety. I hope we get to see Lift interacting with some of the characters in this book (but based on the postscript to Edgedancer I'm not holding my breath). It does seem to be a perfect opportunity to get her involved though, given the Oathgate in Azimir and Lift's location. I don't think Adolin ends up telling Shallan what he did, I think she finds out first or is led to the discovery. No clue who killed the second guy (probably the ghostbloods). Surprised Shallan hasn't noticed that Pattern is a kind of lie detector. I don't think she'll end up caring too much about him killing Sadeas, on the other hand, Dalinar's reaction will be interesting to see.
