  1. I don't know if I'm fully on board with all of this theory, but there is definitely merit to it. Something that could support the idea of Odium influencing the Ghostbloods is the change we see in Shallan's father. I don't recall the exact timeline of everything, but if I remember correctly her father's anger and mental stability worsening seemed to coincide with his further involvement with the Ghostbloods. The changes in his temperament screamed to me of some sort of outside influence.

I would have, at the very least, expected to see some sort of inner conflict over his choices.  A part of me feels like it's deliberate, though, and that bonding the Stormfather somehow changed Dalinar.

I definitely agree that bonding the Stormfather has changed his hesitance with taking the lead, and I am glad for it. He spent the last two books conflicted about taking charge and not stepping on the King's toes. After the events that happen at the end of WoR, it is clear that Dalinar will not be able to unite all of Roshar under Elhokar's rule. I have seen enough of his inner conflict in the previous books, so I don't miss it. Unfortunately, I have a feeling this may come up again when the King returns on the scene.

As for the squire discussions- Windrunners are all about honor, loyalty, protecting and leading others. Honorspren are all about bonds and binding things/people together (i hope I'm not confusing with the Bondsmiths). I always took it to mean they have more squires because they tend to inspire loyalty from others, and people naturally gravitate to them- which seems a likely necessity to become squires.

This is what I tend to think, also.
Would it be fair to assume that other orders that lean more towards Honor will be more likely to have squires than ones that lean towards cultivation?
And would squires in other orders have the same proximity limitations that the windrunners seem to have?

  4. This might be relevant to the squire discussion:

    INTERVIEW: Mar 22nd, 2014

    ARGENT

Shallan has this awesome Memory thing going on, Jasnah has this geolocation thing, Kaladin is a really good fighter - are those just their traits, or is there something supernatural going on?

    BRANDON SANDERSON

There is something supernatural about those. Each Order... Well, how about this. If you look at scholars' interpretations, there are some scholars who think that these things are not supernatural, and some who think that they are. But, if you look, many Lightweavers had powerful mnemonic abilities.

    ARGENT

So it's definitely tied to the Orders?

    BRANDON SANDERSON

It's tied to the Orders. Now, I am not going to say that you've got them all 100% correct, but each Order, there are things that come with Order, things that do not add up from simple the "you get this power plus this power," there is something else going on. And I would say that for Windrunners, watch the number of squires and the power of the squires... these are abnormal for the Windrunners.

    ARGENT

And each Order's squires are somehow different from the other Orders'?

    BRANDON SANDERSON

Yeeeaaaa... some Orders do not have them.

So does this mean that there is something that is going on for these windrunners that is abnormal from others, or that the windrunners are abnormal in general? What about these windrunners powers are abnormal? The power and size is more or less?
Also is there any other WOB's that talk about what other radiants have squires?

@Kalinovsky This wiki article gives some sources, but to quote a specific line in it: "The Thrill seems to be connected to a Voidspren known as NergaoulKnights Radiant are immune to the Thrill's effects, and are often racked with feelings of disgust and nausea if it starts to come upon them."
Another thing that i find very interesting is this WOB:

    INTERVIEW: Apr 8th, 2016

    BLIGHTSONG

Ok, first one. Was Sadeas ever affected directly by Odium or an Unmade, not counting the Thrill?

    BRANDON SANDERSON

Not counting the Thrill, ok uhhhhm. There are affects of other unmade around, and Odium's direct effect? I'm going to say, no, maybe some indirect effects.

    BLIGHTSONG

    What about Roshone?

    BRANDON SANDERSON

Uhhhm, no. The Thrill is the main thing that is getting the Alethi, I mean, there are others around, but it's not as obvious with that as with other things.

So we know that the Thrill is the main mode of influence that Odium has on the Alethi...
And with the account of it in this last flashback, I think it is clear how much influence it really can have. I know that I underestimated the impact the Thrill can have on the people, but newer accounts of it seem to show it to be much less innocuous than I originally thought.

So is Kaladin or Jasnah going to be opening the Oathgate in Kholinar?

Not sure. It could be Kaladin if it was part of the reason he went back home. He could have been tasked with trying to open it before or after the sneak peak we got of him returning to Hearthstone.

It is probably more likely that Jasnah will be in charge of opening most of the gates, especially if she has been able to master the transportation element of her powers.

  7. Something that stuck out to me in the flashback was the description of how the Thrill affected Dalinar. We have had descriptions of the Thrill before, but this is the first time I remember it being described like a drug.

He was done living for the day. It would be weeks, maybe months, before he got another opportunity.

It is clear that young Dalinor lived for the opportunity to feel the Thrill. Reading the flashback made it hard for me to reconcile this young Dalinar with the man we know now. Understanding the influence that the Thrill had on him (similar to a drug addict looking for the next fix) gives deeper insight into how someone could allow such horrible acts to happen.
