Just as a note, if they're using a Fabrial and planning on using misting powers with it then Nicrosil would likely be what they need rather than Duralumin given that the source of the power is external.

Cool, still sounds reasonable given that's her only ability. Probably a little higher than normal, ~70 points. But ultimately still within limits. Approved.

Ack, sorry this fell to the bottom of my inbox due to sudden PM spamming from many sources. Animal communication - 10 points Auroral manifestation - Would ideally need some specifics of this one to give an exact score, what intensity of light are we talking, what spectrum, what distance can they create it from, how long does it last (/ does it require active concentration) Generally it'd run around 50 points assuming the beams are strong enough to do some damage, which is still nowhere close to the limit, so as long as you weren't planning on being able to create Gamma radiation bursts intense enough to destroy all life then I think I can safely pre-emptively approve this one.

The tiles were slippery to the touch as Zyn clung to them on the roof. But his practised fingers fount the rougher grooves, the edges of the tiles that were secure enough to hold some of his weight as he slipped down against the wall of the building. With one foot he felt around until he felt the glass of a window, then gave a little upward flick to jostle it free from the latch that usually held it closed. With a last quick glance to make sure that no one was glancing up into this side street, Zyn slipped in through the upper story window, landing softly in the attic of the safehouse. Humming softly to himself he pulled a small bag in after him and began pulling items out from within it. A pouch filled with stormlight-infused gems was the main attraction, Radiants always payed extra for anything that was already infused and some Rosharans still enjoyed using them for illumination as a sign of status. The remaining trinkets had been quickly pilfered from the rooms he'd passed while searching, but a number of them were carved with what looked like recent trends from Roshar. Better luck still, simple gold didn't sell for much in a city with Soulcasters, but fancy tableware that had original artwork on it was always worth a bit. Of course this did mean he'd need to find a fence who could be discreet while selling these, the artwork made them a little too easy to track for Zyn's taste and he'd already been suspicious that someone may have been trying to follow him, better to lead them to an old safehouse than his personal residence in that case. He dropped down from the attic into the house proper, taking a look around and noticing with some surprise that he hadn't been the only one to make use of it in recent days. A number of small discarded items littered the residence, and it seemed that someone had left some of their plans on a table. He left them for now, looking around to try to find something to drink before eventually settling with water. Should have known better than to trust a bunch of other thieves to leave a guy a free drink. He thought ruefully, heading back to the table to glance curiously down at the piece of paper left there. To anyone who wants to get back together like in the old days for another heist, contact the Forge. Zyn read the note a second time, double checking to see if there was any kind of code that he could make out. But the message was too short for that, there couldn't be much information beyond what was plainly on there. Another job huh? Well it could be interesting, getting harder to find anywhere that I wouldn't feel bad stealing from. Eyes distant and pensive, he headed back upstairs to collect his loot before exiting out the front door. Humming to himself once more. Now where the rusts is the Forge again?

It was always troublesome to keep a proper eye on things while not keeping up a guise of innocence. Wandering eyes were too noticeable, it was difficult to be able to properly scan people's reactions without revealing that was what you were doing. Usually Whisper preferred watching other people talk, then she could watch from a distance to make it less obvious what exactly she was watching. But in a direct conversation like this she had to resort to peripheral vision and occasional quick glances to try to read body language. And her conversation partner did not give a lot away in those brief glances. Whisper tried not to let her frustration show, letting the gleam of interest fade back to polite attention as she nodded towards Rigex when he was introduced. Lekal was an easy enough name to check up on, not very useful for a long term alias. Likely the real deal then, and certainly an interesting addition to the group. She made a note of him for later before turning her attention back. She was sipping the water now, either noticing Whisper's glance or simply a change in mood it was hard to say. But this woman definitely knew what she was about, she was wary without being offensive, watchful without seeming rude. As she mentioned the Alleys Whisper felt an eyebrow twitch in immediate reaction. Had that been a threat? A hint? Or simply an idle comment? She widened her eyes as if a little afraid, casting a cautious look around the room towards Karin. People were always suspicious of anyone from the Alleys, she'd seen the look enough times when she'd revealed herself to people to be able to mimic it. Rigex interrupted with a question of his own, saving Whisper the trouble of coming up with an appropriate response to the comment. "What brings you down into the caverns, Wes? I mean, aside from the top-notch company." Whisper cocked her head to one side, seemingly thinking the question over before raising a hand and scrawling more letters of light in the air. I heard that people were trapped down here, wanted to help if I can. Also heard that it was strange. Curious. Her eyes flickered back to the other woman for a moment. The caverns weren't the only curious things down here. @ZincAboutIt @TrailRunnin

I would generally discourage the use of Shadowspawn in general given that they don't exactly make for particularly cooperative characters in a group RP situation. That being said a quick point assessment: Physical enhancements: 50 (I'm actually tempted to put this higher, they're portrayed as a little more exaggerated than pewter and carries all the same effects, but particularly the ability to survive otherwise fatal blows) Shadowporting: 40 (Teleportation is powerful, but to be fair Myddraal actually rarely use this ability in combat) Fear: 20 (This would be higher but lowering it as part of the package deal, Myrddraal fear is much stronger than a Rioter and also is intrinsically linked to them specifically, Rioters can only control general emotional state, not tie that state to a specific thing) Channelling sense: 20 Blade: 20 Skill: 50 (Skilled with a blade, this is an innate property of all Myddraal so can't really skip it) Total: 200 points, 50 of which is skill related Now in terms of officially adding this to the list there's probably a bit of leeway to remove some points given that this is a package deal, but in any event there would need to be some significant weaknesses for one of these to fall inside the playable realm.

Whisper watched the woman take the cup, but she simply held it in one hand. Perhaps just not thirsty, but generally people would at least take a small sip out of politeness when handed something. Suspicious then? But was it a general suspicion? Or of Whisper personally? She shifted her gaze back, making eye contact once again as she listened. She felt an urge to return the intrigued smile she was given, amused by the assumption that she'd be able to find her name. She had looked of course, found something amid some of the bookkeeping at the camp, but whether that was her real name remained to be seen. An alias wasn't always necessary for keeping secrets but it certainly helped, and Whisper definitely didn't believe that everyone had been perfectly honest on those questionnaires they'd all been given. Her fingers stiffened for an instant when she was asked her name, about to instinctively drop a small spike into her hand and sign the response. But she wasn't in the Alleys right now, less elegant means of communication would have to be used. She hesitated, hand hovering over her waist for the board she'd been using to write on earlier, but instead she simply raised her hand in the air. She'd already mentioned on her form that she could Lightweave, it wasn't something she'd been intending to keep hidden for long. With a swift series of gestures she left a trail of Stormlight trailing behind her finger, leaving a faintly glowing green line in its wake as she spelled out her reply. You can call me Wes. She replied, using the same name as before. Are you feeling alright now? She kept the words polite, a little concerned. But her eyes were sparkling as she watched from behind the writing.

It seemed that the woman who had fainted had already recovered, Whisper watched silently as she slipped into the pool of water and began relaxing. She seemed none the worse for wear, a little tense perhaps but still keeping up a positive mood which was more than could be said for many others. Whisper shifted her path, stepping forwards to someone who'd been injured and was making their way towards the camp where healing waited. She offered a shoulder to help him limp his way there, using the opportunity to travel at a slower pace and catch a little more of the surrounding conversations. She saw Karin beginning to consume the worm, putting her real position even further in doubt. She certainly seemed to have something of Aylitha about her, but not as powerful. A clone perhaps? That would be an easy enough feat for a department head to accomplish, Aylitha in particular. Whisper shelved the thought for later exploration, there was little she could do to confirm anything now unless she wanted to simply attack her and see what reaction Karin had. After escorting the injured was taken care of she found a cup around camp, filled it with water and began making her way back. Perhaps not as dramatic as fussing over an unconscious body but a little proactive thoughtful gesture could still do the trick, particularly when many still perceived her as being young. She walked up to Corette, freshly cleaned and speaking with one of the others from the camp. Whisper hesitated on the outskirts of their conversation for a few moments before taking a tentative step forward, holding the cup out before her. @ZincAboutIt@TrailRunnin

Whisper spared a single disappointed look towards the worm as it fell. She'd held some hopes that it might have more secrets, but if it had it had taken them with it into the grave. After confirming its death she shifted her attention to those still living, giving Althea a particularly long and interested look. There had been that moment that she'd stood frozen, something about her eyes. Interesting. Whisper knew well the eyes of one who had seen horrors and was living through them again. Althea it seemed was still fighting what she'd seen, and was strong enough that it hadn't broken her yet. But it was only a matter of time, no one could stand up to the full weight of the unknown, the horrors that drifted on the fringes of memory and awareness. Resisting meant they would break you, Whisper hadn't resisted. She watched as Althea moved towards the corpse of the worm, helping out someone who seemed to be crawling out from inside of it. She heard the name 'Karin' but it had seemed to be the one who looked like Aylitha. Her survival gave Whisper a little more hope that she might be genuine, but then if she had been that worm wouldn't have been able to eat her in the first place. She filed the information away before scanning the rest of the group, eyes finally resting on the one who had been watching her. She seemed unsteady on her feet, eyes unfocussed. It only took a few steps before she collapsed to the ground. Others were closer by, better able to help, but Whisper still moved forward, a look of worry on her face. Trying to help when there was nothing useful you could do was something that most people seemed to take as a hallmark of kind people. Personally Whisper thought it was a hallmark of people who couldn't accurately assess a situation, but other people's impressions were what mattered now.

Lips still drawn into a stern line, Laurelai gave a small nod to the other woman as she sat down with them, she was noticeable that was for sure. Shouldn't be too difficult to find some information about this one later if need be, but for now Laurelai was content to let Lita handle the business herself, after all Laurelai was only here due to coincidence Lita was the intended recipient of this meeting. She raised her glass of violet wine to her lips and took a small sip, felt her nose briefly wrinkle at the intense aroma drifting off from it and her lips purse at the overwhelmingly strong taste. Rosharan culture had a lot going for it, Alethi dresses were much more practical than Scadrian designs and Laurelai found their scholarly works to generally be more inspired than some of those found on Sel. But Rusts they ruined their alcohol. How did people drink this every day? Who thought that pouring pure alcohol into a Sandalwood perfume and calling it a drink was a good idea? She suppressed the urge to cough, sipping a little more slowly to ensure she could keep some of the drink down. But sipping simply made the sweetness even more prevalent and let the alcohol burn more on the way down. She set her cup down next to Lita's, giving it a final glare of distaste before peeling her gaze away from the violet hued liquid and towards the equally violet eyes of their new table companion. The fire wreathing her could have come from a number of Investitures, but that attitude, that look of superiority, that had all the trademarks of one of those Epics from earth. They could be troublesome, there was little structure or reason behind many of their abilities, but there were also patterns if you knew where to look. As the other woman motioned towards her, Laurelai gave a polite smile, inclining her head slightly, but left the talking to Lita. @ZincAboutIt @Ark1002

I think 1500 years ago was the stabilizing of the Alleyverse IIRC, but the city itself would have been a bit later, I don't think I've put an exact date to it.

Laurelai stepped into the building, following after Lita. She clicked her tongue softly as they entered, eyes running over the new furniture clean floors and undamaged structure. This tavern was new, which meant she lacked any prior knowledge of it and was also unable to use any of the major events that had happened in the city to affect it. Buildings in the city were usually relatively easy to damage, all it would have taken was a stray bit of fire during the fight with PlasmaCore or an orbital bombardment during the seven day war and any building could have been completely destroyed. But a completely new building had little history to work with, far fewer things that could have gone catastrophically wrong. And without knowing any specifics for the building either that meant she had very little she could change. She felt Lita scanning the room for its inhabitants, satisfied that she'd likely find any dangers there before she could Laurelai directed her attention to trying to discover what she could about the building. It hadn't been Soulcast, that meant a little more possibilities depending on where materials were gathered, but there was also little unity in the construction. The brick walls were likely created locally but that huge oak bar would have had to come from somewhere else, the Ironwood doors were clearly a custom order, heavy, ornate and expensive, but the chairs were clearly mass produced and not terrifically constructed. Well at least those will be easy to break, that's something as a distraction at least. Laurelai thought, one cheek twitching briefly in a mix of irritation and mild amusement. Too bad they skimped on the furniture rather than the support beams though. She took a deep breath in, letting the flow of oxygen calm her as she resettled her posture. Back straight, chin held high, safehand curled up in her sleeve but not fully enclosed. A Rosharan noble who was starting to adjust to life in the city but still wasn't entirely comfortable showing their hand in a strange tavern. Her lips narrowed back into a line, stern but a little worried. "Any idea who you're meeting?" She asked Lita.

Whisper stuck to the back as the rest of the expedition leaped into action, her gaze remaining fixed on the giant worm-like creature. She felt the wave of soothing hit her, but as a generalized wave it wasn't tailored to each of them it simply targeted what the worm expected them all to feel, negative emotions like anger and fear. She felt the wariness that she felt among any group of people fade from the soothing, her caution and suspicion. But it left her boiling excitement completely alone. She stared up at the creature with wide eyes, a genuine smile forming on her face rather than her usual polite expression. The worm attacked the rest of the expedition, grabbing people up one by one as they stood calmly nearby it. Some appeared able to throw the soothing off in time to avoid being attacked, but it seemed the one who looked like Aylitha was not so lucky and quickly consumed by the worm. Whisper was idly curious as to whether or not she'd be able to survive that, it was a good chance to see whether she shared any of the real Aylitha's abilities. But her attention quickly drifted back to the worm itself, she watched its swaying figure, watched the fear it inspired in those around it, quickly suppressed by its own abilities until there was only a peaceful sense of wonder in people. This was why she'd wanted to come with the expedition, to journey into these unexplored caverns. There were secrets here, dangerous secrets. The worm would not be the greatest of those secrets if they were lucky, simply the first. And with so many dangerous secrets already down here, surely no one would notice if she slipped a few more in. Unable to control her grin, Whisper forced some strength into her legs, crossing the distance in a series of leaps she landed inside a speed bubble that someone had thrown up to buy some time, clearly an extensive conversation had happened while time was running slower in here but she only caught the end of it, something about an opening. Whisper was reluctant to help in attacking this creature, but while impressive it also was definitely not one of the true horrors of the deep, if it was then there would be little any of them could do anyway.

Whisper stuck to the back of the group as they'd descended, keeping an eye on the reactions that the other members of the team had as they were slowly lowered into the tunnel system. She watched looks of wonder and awe spread across faces, even sparing a look of her own at the glowing plantlife that gave the cavern an otherworldly aura. This place was very different from the city streets that she was used to, different even from the Alleys. In the Alleys something strange like this almost always meant something that was about to kill you, but this seemed almost... tranquil? After nearly a minute of staring at the cavern she managed to wrench her attention back to the people accompanying her. There would be time for sightseeing later, most important was getting an initial feeling for the group, watching growing dynamics and relationships. She noticed the woman who had been watching her earlier talking to someone, someone who hadn't been with their group when they'd descended down here. Member of the camp? Wrong clothing for it. Noble Financer perhaps? She sped up a little as they walked, gradually growing near enough to hear the new figure speaking with the director. A new arrival to the Alleyverse was not something she'd been expecting to find down here. Absently she wondered how many others had wandered into an Alley and come out into these caverns before an entrance had been discovered. How many bodies lay here, forever lost until finally they'd collapsed? Or had they met with the same fate as the previous expeditionary team? With a faint smile, Whisper kept pace with the rest, surveying the basic features of the camp and the cavern it resided in before eventually finding herself standing next to Wes once more. She gave a small wave as she approached, smiling happily towards him. @I think I am here.

The spren drifted into the room, a little more sluggishly than it had been moving previously and its humanoid figure had its arms crossed, seeming to be sulking about something. But as it entered the room it saw the fight unfolding before it, the yellow glow of its eyes flared suddenly bright and it leaped 10 feet into the air with a sudden burst of energy. Its form began to shimmer, almost vibrating as it tried to pull itself forward into the fight but also hold itself back. It sunk slowly back to the ground, still twitching in its indecision and with both glowing eyes locked onto Temeria as she fought the skeleton. A continuous crackling sound emanated from its body, accompanied by small popping sounds as sparks shot up from it.

Bonus points to you for using the correct number of digits for actual binary-Ascii interpretation to be possible. I get infinitely annoyed with movies that use 5 digits of 1's and 0's and say it's a word. I got relt and then I think an 'i'? hard to say.

Whisper toyed with the small tracking device that she'd been handed, looking it over curiously. She wasn't particularly well-read, especially not in technological advancements like this, which ruled out any attempt to tamper with it or understand exactly how it worked, but she may still find a use for it. If nothing else it would be good for others to think they had a way to track her, one of the easiest ways to hide was for someone to think they knew exactly where you were. A cold shiver ran down her back as she pinned the tracking device to her shirt, the same sensation from yesterday. She gave no obvious sign, but she ducked her head a little and pretended to fidget with the tracker. Through the dangling strands of hair that covered her face she snuck a few glances up at her surroundings, flicking towards each of the people nearby. A few were looking in her direction, but they weren't really watching her, it was a small difference, and not an easy one to learn, but she dismissed all of them as being the source. Her eyes flickered up again, catching sight of a figure that she'd already checked, but something drew her attention back. A young woman, lightly tanned, a little shorter than those around her. She was difficult to notice, casual and ordinary enough that Whispers eyes had skipped straight over her initially, but there was something about the way that she was looking that was a little different from the others, this was someone who was truly watching. But what to do about that? It was possible that it was simply someone who'd seen her descent and was curious, or wondering why someone so young had signed up to be a part of the expedition. It could also have been someone from one of the guilds, but Whisper wasn't likely to be a priority for observation from any of them, it was rare that she actively interfered with any of the guilds other than that time at the church. That left something more personal, but she didn't recognise the figure from anywhere. So what was left? She lifted her head, allowing her hair to drift back to the sides of her face and reveal her eyes as she stared straight back at the woman. Sometimes all you could do was provoke them and try to draw out some more information from their reaction. @ZincAboutIt

Previous day ----------- Whisper gave Wes a small smile as he gestured at her from across the room, it seemed he'd made it in, and based on his enthusiasm it seemed that he would indeed accompany the rest of the group down into the caverns. She made her own way towards the posting, struggling a little to move through the crowd that was, for the most part, far taller than she was. But a life of slipping through crowds let her eventually pick a path forwards until she was right next to the posting. She scanned through the document, lips curling up a little as she saw her own name there. It was certainly easier to be picked herself than to have to kill someone else and assume their spot in the expedition. She continued reading, memorising the list of names just to be safe. No other big surprises in who was selected, no familiar names. Dealing with people she wasn't familiar with would be more difficult, but also more exciting. Still smiling to herself, Whisper began pushing her way back through the crowds, letting a little more Light drift over her form while she was obscured by the press of bodies. When she came back out the other end she was a little taller and better dressed, with straight blonde hair word loose over a shoulder, face a little more angular. She took a quick scan of the room to ensure that no one was watching her before making her way out of the building. She stopped only once to drop a small note into Wes' pocket on her way out. I guess I'll be seeing you tomorrow. Thanks for talking, it helped. - W -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Present day ------------- Whisper stopped outside one of the rare windows in the city that was actually clean enough to give a reflection, she looked over herself, double checking that the appearance was the same as what she had adopted the previous day. People usually wouldn't notice one or two small inconsistencies, but it never hurt to be careful. Satisfied, she gave a short nod to her reflection before continuing on, walking outside the city and onto the outskirts of the large crater that had been formed there six months ago. There were a few smooth paths that had been constructed to allow passage down, but someone seemed to lose their balance on their way towards it, sliding down the much steeper embankment, tumbling and drawing a not-insignificant amount of attention as he slowly rolled to the base. Taking advantage of the attention that had been drawn over there, Whisper took a step forward, falling a significant distance down before catching herself with reinforced legs at the path as it made its way underneath her and then stepping off again to reach the base of the crater. Hopefully most attention had been drawn away, but even if anyone had noticed, they'd likely chalk it up to Pewter or Stormlight. She made her way towards the gathering of people, some split off into small groups, others just milling about aimlessly while waiting. She wound her way through most of the groups, ears straining to catch any interesting conversations.
