Still Having a Bad Day? Exchange Your Rants For Hugs Here!
Voidus replied to Silverblade5's topic in General Discussion
Yeah, lesson learned. This pack was mostly for the last cluster so it only had a few left, I just try not to think about it much so I forgot to stock up again. I'm hesitant to ask for a bigger script because it's a controlled substance and I also worry about what will happen if I have that much at hand, it doesn't completely eliminate the pain it just helps me focus on it less, so if I had a really really bad attack some day I worry that I might do something really really stupid to make it stop. -
Still Having a Bad Day? Exchange Your Rants For Hugs Here!
Voidus replied to Silverblade5's topic in General Discussion
So I take oxycodone for my cluster headaches (Reluctantly since it makes me feel weird all day afterwards) and now I'm down to the last three which means I now need to book an appointment with the doctors and try to avoid feeling like they'll just kick me out as a drugseeker or something. Which is if I can even get an appointment in time and the pharmacy is actually stocked because otherwise I have to go through this with no medication which is just about the worst thing ever and the anxiety of that is going to destroy all the progress I've been making with managing my anxiety and depression lately and now I'm hyperventilating and laugh-crying. -
You know you spend too much time on the Shard when.....

When you have never watched an episode of MLP but are still intimately familiar with the characters and story. It's mostly so that I get a notification on my phone and can switch tabs back to the Shard -

When 90% of your emails are 17thShard notifications. -
Yeah I was wondering if that was ever going to come up

That's more of a rough guideline but yeah, otherwise we have to assume your characters haven't done anything for several game-days and the most likely reason would be that they died so we'd probably do that. If you need to leave for a while lay down a rough plan of what your characters would be doing. Not sure, Neverthere was spotted in my last post and there's a collab for the dominion meeting so it would probably go there anyway. I like the Soulswitch idea but I'll need to try to figure out what I was planning for him to be doing since it's been a while since he's done much. I could do the MV post but there's not really much to say unless Kobold feels like collaborating on a conversation.

Nope, we definitely wanted to have a dropbear Epic appear at some point. As Mckeedee said it's 1 week: 1 day
-
It's set in Australia, it's much earlier in the timeline than the Oregon RPs and has a set game-time:Real-time ratio

Feels like it's been ages since I posted anywhere other than the Wastelands thread. Anyone need my characters for anything?

I was pretty sure it was stated that he did it through listening to heart-rates. (And presumably other things like pupil dilation, sweat production, etc.)

Day 2 Three-eyes stalked carefully through the root-systems of the Darwin tree, leading her squad of soldiers on their reconnaissance mission. She hated recon missions, there was the possibility that they wouldn't be coming back which meant minimizing losses. That meant minimal numbers of Immortals so she was left with regular conscripted soldiers. They'd had enough training to be somewhat useful but next to a squadron of Immortals they were worthless. They could at least do with the enhanced aim, even if they can't be made into proper Immortals, watching these guys shoot is just embarrassing. Lamenting her mens training Three-eyes nonetheless directed them through the tunnels, one of the men had some training in cartography and was mapping their progress, creating an accurate map of city layouts was one of the primary objectives. She called for a short break while their comms specialist reported their progress so far. "Let them know that it'll take at least a few days to get a complete map and based on our investigations finding primary targets may not be possible without an extended surveillance team and some deep-cover agents." Three-eyes told him. The others had already started lounging around, collapsing to the ground and leaning on walls. Undisciplined idiots. She pulled a short rations-bar out of her pack, chewing on it as she listened to the other soldiers talking, reminiscing about home, wondering when they'd be done. Hoping to see their families soon. Lucky bastards. Three-eyes adopted a regretful expression. Lucky, stupid bastards, they've never had to know what it feels like to have your insides turned to rotting jelly or have your eyesight fade in and out when your pupils were destroyed then healed then destroyed again. They've never had to shoot their own crying sister in the head just to avoid that hell. "Get up." She said briskly. "We're going again." They all grumbled as they picked themselves up, finished off their own ration-bars and started trudging along. "Eyes open unless you want to get shot from behind or have a tree strangle you." She admonished. A couple listened, making some attempt to look more alert, most of them just continued trudging along, looking at their own feet. damnation conscripts. Something shattered from behind them. Three-eyes whirled around, hand already pulling out her concealed self-modified USP. A group of soldiers stood further up the path, one having evidently thrown what appeared to be a giant slab of crystal on the ground. One of them started yelling as they took up positions to cut off the Adelaide soldiers. "Foreigners! You are under arrest for intruding on Darwin territory without prior permission!" Three eyes grinned, her own squad falling into chaos as they panicked at their first encounter with other soldiers. They were mostly used to putting down civilian uprisings, used to acting when they had the might of an entire army behind them. But out here they were alone. A couple started to fire off shots, their bullets missing their mark by a fair margin. Embarrassing. Three eyes grimaced as she watched the bullets hit nothing but air as they whizzed past the Darwin soldiers. Time to show them what a real soldier can do. Her first shot gave testament to her nickname, her bullet driving itself straight through the skull of one of Darwins soldiers, the black mark that accompanied all wounds inflicted by an Immortal spread only a short distance before stopping, the soldier had already died. His face was now marked with a small black circle in the middle of his forehead, looking strangely like a third eye. "You want to dance?" She said as the rest of her squad took cover. Three-eyes didn't even bother. "Let's dance." ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Jefferson smiled as he managed to hit the bullseye once again, apparently something that was usually pretty difficult with a pistol that you'd barely practiced with at a distance of 50 meters. "Don't get too satisfied Captain, most of your lot can shoot the freckles off a flies arse from a mile away." The weapons master, who had today allowed them to call him sergeant O'reilly, growled. Jefferson sighed, it seemed that now that he had an official codename that was all that anyone was allowed to use, even the regular soldiers walking around the city had greeted him as 'Captain'. "And don't moan like that. You're a leader now, you'd better act like it." Sergeant O'reilly said. "Yes sir! So am I ready to move on to something else?" Jefferson asked hopefully, he'd thought firing practice would at least be more fun than maintenance training but 3 hours of just shooting at a stationary target was not exactly exhilarating. "Ha! Nope!" The Sergeant patted him roughly on the back. "Now you get to practice firing from a draw, then firing from a seated, crouched and prone position. Once you've got all that down we'll increase the range to 100m and start again." All of Alpha squad groaned at the news. "Sir!" BrokenNose said. "My arms are getting sore, I've been holding this thing straight for hours now!" The Sergeant just laughed. "You think you're sore? Try doing it without the ability to heal constantly. Now get back to it." "But sir..." A loud bang cut off BrokenNose, who dropped to the ground, it took a few seconds for his jaw to reform, pushing out the bullet and then a few more seconds for him to stand up again. He was about to open his mouth when the Sergeant waved his pistol threateningly. They all got back to work. "Immortals aren't made in a day." The Sergeant said. "You have amazing powers, they make you stronger than other soldiers, allow you to learn faster, train harder. So it is your duty to train to the full extent that these abilities allow. Other men and women will be relying on you to lead and protect them, you're not just some pseudo-Epic who relies on nothing but his supernatural gifts, you are first and foremost soldiers. I will teach you to act like it, with a clap on the shoulder and when necessary a bullet to the face." "Yes sir!"

I think you forgot the laser and fire spewing dinosaur ridden by a squid.
-
Seastrider threw him back with a 'return to sender' stamp on his face.
-
Deathwish post did not feature Deathwish getting eaten by Scribbler and Lord Dupin riding a flame-throwing dinosaur.

Yep, speed needs time to become a relative part of the reference, since the power happens instantaneously (it doesn't accelerate it just sets your speed to a certain value) it takes the objects speed at t=0 and sets that to be the reference then (still at t=0) sets it to 1km/h in the desired direction in that reference frame. But even if not, easy work around, just use two objects, set each of them to move relative to the other, and you get the same effect.
-
Depends what he's trying to do, but usually he just measures it relative to the object itself, so when he first uses his power it travels at 1km/h then he uses it again relative to itself so relative to the earth it's now moving at 2km/h and so on till he just gives it infinite speed. Alternatively he just moves every particle in someones body in different directions at 1km/h thus disintegrating them. Or just lift a city slowly into the sky then drop it. Or lift a piece of ocean into a city and drown everyone. Or move all the air out of a city and suffocate everyone in it. Just a few of the fun ways he could commit mass-genocide of an entire city pretty easily.
-
Worse. He gets to choose what the speed is measured relative to.
-
Nope. Hint: His Epic name is Relativity.
-
He can make objects move at a speed of 1km/h. There's only one extra part of this power to this and he has no other abilities. Any guesses how he suddenly became the most powerful Epic in Oregon?
-
Had another Epic idea that I want to use but he's too OP for anywhere but Astoria. And honestly probably too OP for Astroria too. As usual he started out as a minor Epic.
-
Just after Penumbra first surfaced IIRC.

Also blackmail.

Just wait until she gets started on the head-mounted lasers New question. Twi? If a certain sparkly Epic teleported a really fun cool new friend who could make stuff for her other friends and her pet squid into the MoNA would Funtimes be able to be convinced to threaten Lightwards into giving them a dinosaur?
-
From memory Lerasium alloys give various spiritual and physical effects while Atium alloys tend to be temporal or cognitive in focus. There's an old WoB on it somewhere though I don't remember where. So I like these ones as examples of physical effects, especially pulling metals towards each other.

I would much rather Scribbler got Numnums than Neverthere did, especially if she also has Lord Dupin, she'd put 'fire' tattoos into Numnums mouth to turn him into a dragon and would just be mega-awesome generally. ... Kobold? What are the odds that Lightwards would respond favourably if a certain glittery Epic teleported a tattoo-covered girl who changed his hat pink into the MONA?
