Adelaide, Day 5 Jefferson slammed his hand down hard, smashing the large red button in front of him as his breath came out in quick sharp bursts. The belt moving underneath him slowed and finally stopped before the treadmills digital readout displayed his time. Sixty two minutes of solid sprinting, his lungs felt like they were made of sandpaper and his legs felt like he'd just been shot repeatedly. (A sensation he was now uncomfortably familiar with). But he could already feel it mending, muscles re-knitting themselves into stronger fibers, oxygen being restored, acid buildup being purged from his system. In under a minute he felt completely healthy again, though still completely exhausted. O'reilly grunted before ordering him over to the range, the last of Alpha squad to do so he'd managed to maintain his speed for five minutes longer than BrokenNose had. With a self-satisfied smug on his face he followed their trainer out of the room. He'd enjoyed the first week of training as an Immortal, yes he'd been shot so many times he felt that his body by all rights should have been made of lead. Yes he'd had to shoot that stupid target so many times that he thought he was going to have a permanent hatred for the colors red and white, and yes if he'd had to endure this kind of pain before spending that time in the basement then he'd likely be insane. But he wasn't. He was better, stronger than he'd ever been. Getting shot in his kneecap barely registered as pain anymore, his squad were the same, BrokenNose now ran headfirst into walls just to re-enact his name-sake for them, the only thing that had seemed to annoy him about it was that he was forced to clean the blood of the walls afterwards. They were truly becoming Immortals now. O'Reilly assured them all that they were a far cry from the real deal, he told them that he'd seen Immortals drink battery acid for a laugh and spend an hour drowning on a dare. Jefferson was the only one who came close he said. Though he'd been quick to remind 'Captain' as he was always called, that his shooting was still nowhere near up to scratch. One of the girls had overtaken them all by a long shot in that department, having graduated from pistols to a rifle she could already hit a pigeon through its eye from three blocks away. One of the others had called her Deadshot in honor of some comic book villain and it had stuck, someone had even written it on a piece of masking tape and put in on her door until she got assigned a codename. Ever since Calamity jokes like that had been considered in incredibly poor taste, references to comic books were frequently met with horrified stares. But what was the point in being a henchman for an evil supervillain if you couldn't at least make fun of it? Severance patrolled the streets of Adelaide, checking his watch periodically as he encountered other patrols, making sure they were all running on time. He'd been increasing the number of patrols slowly, partially to train up the new recruits and drafts but also to prepare the entire army for the coming weeks. Big changes were coming to Adelaide, they would be expanding soon, and however skilled Necropathys wanna-be Epics were it was the regular soldiers who would do the largest amount of work. With Severance at their lead they would secure new lands for their city. With a sly grin he headed back to the base, he needed to see if his recon teams had reported in yet, the troupe sent to Tribourne had made regular contact but they'd yet to receive any contact at all from some teams, and those sent to locate Hobart were still unsuccessful. How hard can it be to find a bloody city? Hobbart, Day 5 Seastrider had just been settling in on her private resort when she felt something, another call, this one coming from what must be Hobbart. She frowned slightly, the one call that she couldn't refuse anymore, they were some of her most regular and generous clients. But bloody hell did it annoy her that she had no choice in the matter. She prided herself in being completely independent and beholden to no one, but all of a sudden it seemed she had been trapped. But still, she might as well make the most of it, she should even be due for payment from them soon. She heeded the call, following the mingling senses of water and gold that she could feel from an entire country away, one of the strongest sensory abilities she'd heard of, albeit very limited. Reminding herself of that fact put a smile on her face once more as the water at her feet rose up to greet her, swallowing her whole before transporting her. As usual she felt a mix of vertigo at knowing how high she'd suddenly become and also confusion at the lack of any noticeable change in atmosphere or temperature that would usually be found at this height. But she ignored all feelings, adopting her smug smile as she appeared and suppressed her annoyance at being called. "Mephistopheles." She greeted coolly as she rose up from the water. "What can I help you with today?"

Lucy Lockser was completely unsure of how she was supposed to react. Idly she wondered vaguely if Arsenal had set up an official protocol for what to do if a teleporter came up to you and kept hugging you and calling you cute. She quickly realized however that he probably did and the official response was probably to arrest them for public indecency or something like that. Rather than attempting to arrest the curious and excitable woman, Lucy's body made the decision that it was going to turn bright crimson and look at the floor in embarrassment .She looked up just in time to see a sudden deep and serious expression on the teleporters face as she looked intently at Lucy. “Now, is there anything I can do to thank you for your adorableness brightening both my day and the world up?” She asked. "Er...." Very elegant Lucy. She mentally chided herself. You should get one of those public speaking awards for a speech like that. Refusing altogether was probably the wisest choice, accepting a gift from an unknown Epic was not the best idea in the world. But then again, refusing the offer of an unknown Epic was potentially an equally bad idea. She started speaking several times before she realized she had no idea what to say. Suddenly she just blurted out the first thing that came into her head. "Squid!" She squeaked out, before looking intently back down at the floor. "For uh... you know, ink and stuff. That's my power." With the amount of blushing and the strange joy she got from the constant barrage of attention and compliments, she was very happy that this Epic was not one of those attacking the Dalles. That would be all she needed, for Arsenal to see her getting embarrassed into fainting when an enemy Epic hugged her too much. Or worse for Deathwish to see and then spend the next week inviting her to threesomes. Gross.

Serena was about to resume her reading and leave the orientation to Shannon but then the transfer student said something she could scarcely believe. "Wasn't that bad wizard, Voldesomething, related to Slytherin? I have to admit, I've never paid much attention to news and recent history from wizarding world." Wow. Not being up to date on news is one thing but how do you forget the name of the most powerful immortal wizard in recent history? Still, she sensed an opportunity for a lecture, so that gave her a chance to quirk one of her rare smiles. "Voldemort." She corrected, a small feeling of unease running through her at the name. She wasn't old enough to remember the events but she knew plenty of witches and wizards who still shuddered every time they said it, and so much fear around the name had rubbed off on her. "Born Tom Riddle, his maternal family the Gaunts were direct descendants of Salazar Slytherin, possessing the rare ability of Parseltongue that eventually led to the opening of the Chamber of Secrets and subsequent attacks on several muggleborn at the school. Of course it's all safe now, the basilisk was destroyed back in may of 1993." Her tone grew excited as she continued to speak, her eyes leaving her book completely to examine her audience.

Yeah if Vasher has Nightblood I definitely give him the win, unless Marsh has steel compounding and just instantly murders everyone that is. I feel like people are underestimating Raoden a bit, he's very quick to draw and Aons are easily the most versatile ability here, Allomancy is way faster and more instinctive but I'd probably give Raoden the win over Szeth and possibly even Vasher if he didn't have Nightblood.

A war between Scadrial (era 2) and Roshar

Then why did you say it's corrosive water? Normal mineral water might rust a gun if you leave it there for a few days but it's not going to rust it into instant uselessness for the few seconds it takes to get out... I also highly doubt people get drinking water from the magic pool of the gods that they murder people for touching. -

Yeah as mentioned it's not really a proof since it requires dividing by 0 which is something you can't do, it'd be like if you 'proved' it by just adding 1 to one side of the equation and not the other. The actual method though is pretty simple, though sometimes people do what Aonar did and try to hide the division by 0. Take some x and some y where x and y are any numbers. x*0=0 y*0=0 x*0=y*0 Divide by 0 to get x=y- 1963 replies

A war between Scadrial (era 2) and Roshar
Voidus replied to Bowiespoon's topic in Cosmere Discussion
The fact that things that enter the pool quickly disintegrate is an excellent reason for someone to suspect that it has corrosive waters. We know that Shardpools all do that so there's no particular reason to think this one has normal Shardpool corrosiveness and also a layer of water on top that is additionally corrosive. -
Yeah as Mckeedee said, I was originally hoping to keep official city Epics on a rather small scale but they would recruit help from arena combatants when necessary. That said the guard is Mckeedee's so he can basically do what he wants with it

I used 1/3 to do it. eg. 1/3 is 0.333333... 3/3 = 1/3 * 3 = 0.99999999... 3/3 =1=0.99999... Good old High school. I also proved that every number is equal to every other number but you have to divide by 0 to do that and my maths teacher smacked my head til I stopped insisting that I should be able to divide by whatever I want.- 1963 replies

A war between Scadrial (era 2) and Roshar

He probably thinks that because things that enter have a habit of vanishing like they do in other Shardpools. -
Nice powerset, typically High Epics only battle other High Epics or else have their powers reduced some way in the arena. (For example changing intangibility to be ineffective against weapons, or slowing a healing factor) Although occasionally they are matched up against regular Epics or even normal people just to make for a hugely one-sided fight. Anyways it's fine with me. As for god-modding it's just so that people can control their own characters story more and because everyone is going to have biases, in fights especially people are inclined to think that their character is better/more likely to win and so they might write the other character in a way that doesn't really fit or showcase their abilities properly. If someone gives you permission to write parts of a scene that's fine but no one wants control of their character taken away only to have that character do something that you really don't think they'd do.

And most peoples response to seeing a demon with magic powers is to run straight towards it? Good way to get yourself killed. ANd they would almost certainly be attacking the horneaters since they'd be getting attacked, the Horneaters would then realize their magic and at the least fall back to regroup. The Alethi are highly unlikely to either believe or offer to help Horneaters, let alone devote Sharbearers to it. Emerging from a Shardpool has completely unknown effects on guns but I assume that if Scadrians are worldhopping then they're going to know they'll come out of a Shardpool and take precautions. Even without guns though, magic still wins. -
I'm thinking featured character and featured event, or something similar. So this months event would be the Funtimes/Nighthound/Lightwards battle and the featured character will be... kept a secret.

Granted, you become the genie Jaffar from Aladdin and are now trapped in a cartoon forever. I wish for all nuclear weapons to vanish and further production of them to be impossible due to them spontaneously and supernaturally collapsing into a useless heap of dust whenever completed.

Voidus replied to Bowiespoon's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Again, there's little to no chance that they'd be freezing to death. Scouts would likely be metalborn of some kind, at least some of whom could probably change their connection and speak to the Horneaters, and random people appearing from the pool displaying magic powers would probably also be heralded as gods even without demonstrating their technological superiority. And if they had to they can just kill the Horneaters who attack them... -

Voidus replied to Bowiespoon's topic in Cosmere Discussion
On the cold: Scadrial does actually have knowledge of the medallions now, but putting that aside they've already shown that they're capable of surviving in the cold mountains, and a Scadrian army has also been shown to be able to navigate a mountain of previously unknown trails. Assuming they didn't just get the knowledge from Horneaters, in exchange for say giving them some Shards. Or food. Or guns. Or just soothing them into loyalty. -
Not a typical twisting but this is technically either more than one wish, or else your only wish will be consumed by telling you why you wouldn't approve of the wish. Or alternatively since all you stipulated was that they tell you before they carry out the instructions, not that they tell you then wait for further conditions, they would tell you then immediately grant it anyway.

Which they will drain completely since Rosharan abilities consume a lot. Even if they don't, they'll probably go dun by the time anyone other than Kaladin could actually get to any leaders.
