New flash update today. Not sure I can talk about it, except in the very general case, but it's interesting. It seems that the current session is not in the best situation
-
I am not having the best day today. The Elantris read-through may start with me having read a few chapters in after all.
-
Another one to look into would be Revolutionary Girl Utena. It starts out surprisingly upbeat, but takes a nasty turn to the dark. For a while, it was considered the Shoujo Evangelion Mai-Hime is another one to look into - it doesn't reach the same depths Madoka does, but it comes bloody close at points. Like Madoka, it subverts a lot of the genre's typical tropes. Hopefully, that will help.

I'm in

For me, I have to confess it was the Redwall books by Brian Jacques, and of course the Lord of the Rings. This was followed by ASOIAF through much of Jr. High, and ADWD after it came out. In the interim, I followed the rather excellent works of Guy Gavriel Kay, and, of course, WoT. Like quite a few people here, it was the Zelda games that helped really get me into fantasy, although in my case it was actually the Wind Waker. Ocarina was well before my time, and although I have it on virtual console I am having difficulty getting to the water temple.

Hmm - a synonym for relationship could work. Connection, maybe? Given his ability to use multiple Personas, the MC would probably be a splinter Pfft, diarahan, nice. I approve

Yeah, I had read some WoT, but I came to it the same way, so... Yeah, the gateway drug comment is completely appropriate. I've discovered a whole bunch of stuff I really liked via it. Hey, by the way, I've never read Elantris before. And I thought it could be cool to do a commentated, chapter-by-chapter read through. I've read everything else cosmere-y, aside from the unpublished works, so that could be an interesting perspective. What forum would it be appropriate for me to post something like that in? -
'tis an epic series, innit? Don't spoil anything - I'm barely into the second month So, because I am bored and a shameless nerd, what fashion of Shard do you think would produce the Persona magic system? Identity? Actualization? It's a bit inconsistent - the focus differs depending on the game, for one - but there are some vague similarities.
-
Yeah, I've been watching it - it's pretty awesome
-
I go by dernedeoradhan on Steam, Deoradhan on LoL and a bunch of other things. If you see a Deoradhan somewhere on the web, it's probably me.
-
I would say Seer, if the supply of Atium was large enough. Failing that, 'twould be epic to be a Coinshot. Even considering Sliders and Pulsers.

I play casually, under the name Deoradhan If I may be permitted to join in the geekery, despite not really playing this game enough to do so. Feel free to criticize these designs. Miles "Hundredlives" Dagouter Passive - Goldminds - Miles can store health in his goldminds via Bloodmaker, to a maximum of five charges, withdrawing them as needed to heal. Q - Aluminum Bullet - Miles fires a skillshot bullet which deals damage proportional to the target's defences, and removes some of the target's mana W - Bloodmaker- Miles stores half his current health in his Goldminds as a feruchemical charge to a maximum of 5 charges. Clicking his passive icon draws a charge from the goldminds, restoring 50% of his health. E - Augur[1] - Miles burns Allomantic gold, producing hallucinatory copies of himself that move and attack randomly, lasting for 15 seconds. As the ability is leveled up, the duration of the Gold shadows lasts longer R/Ult - Hundredlives - Miles' passive regeneration rate increases tenfold for 30 seconds, making him all but unkillable. However, a feruchemical charge is drained from his goldminds, and the slot is removed for the rest of the game. Miles is an extremely tanky assassin, capable of healing nearly instantly from blows that should have killed him. However, he gives up offensive options and straight-up defense in favour of being able to heal. Aluminum bullets make him exceptionally effective against mages, or other Champions who are heavily dependent on abilities. Goldminds and Bloodmaker let him heal very quickly from blows that should have killed him, letting him survive in battle against more offensive Champions. Augur creates illusory targets to soak up attacks for Miles, and can alert him to potential threats. Hundredlives enhances Miles' already fearsome durability to terrifying levels, and lets him go toe-to-toe with carries. Vasher Passive - Awakened Clothing - Vasher has a 25% chance of automatically blocking attacks directed at him, courtesy of his Awakened cloak protecting him, in addition to a minor increase in speed from his awakened trousers. Q - Awakened Tassel - Vasher fires a strike with the Awakened tassels on his sleeves, dealing damage in a line away from him. As the skill is leveled up, the range and damage increase. W - Throw Sword - Vasher throws the sword Nightblood as a skillshot strike, afflicting the first champion it hits with a 15-second rage. During this time, they will attack the nearest allied champion, minion, or structure. E - Give Breath - Vasher gives a target within close range 100 mana and stuns them for 5 seconds. As the skill is leveled up, the amount of mana given increases along with the stun duration. R/ult - Nightblood - Vasher draws Nightblood, draining his hitpoints and mana but granting him a tremendous increase in speed, attack speed, and attack damage. Vasher is an extremely dangerous combatant, functioning as a DPSer with a lot of ways of putting his opponents out of commission. Awakened Tassel is his most straight-foward ability, letting him fire a ranged attack in a line away from him. Throw Sword lets Vasher turn the members of the opposing team against each other, which can turn the tide of a teamfight. Give Breath is a straightforward stun, but can be used to restore the mana of a friendly caster. Finally, Nightblood gives Vasher a tremendous amount of offensive ability. All in all, Vasher is not a champion to be underestimated. And, for something outside the Cosmere Lord Voldemort Pasive - Horcruxes - Voldemort spends half as much time waiting for respawn Q - Cruciatus Curse - Voldemort stuns an enemy for 15 seconds, damaging them during that time. W - Apparition - Voldemort teleports to a location on the map he or a teammate has line of sight to E - Dark Mark - Voldemort calls a Death Eater to support him. R/Ult - Avada Kedavra - Voldemort fires a skillshot nuke that kills the first champion it hits. Voldemort is an extremely deadly ranged dps carry. Cruciatus Curse stuns an opponent and deals damage. Apparition lets Voldemort very quickly reinforce his allies, or chase after an escaping target. Dark Mark lets Voldemort call up support for additional firepower. Avada Kedavra kills the first champion it hits instantly. Silus - I'm kind of wondering who would win in a fight between my Vasher build and your Szeth [1] - I'm well aware that Allomantic Gold Does Not Work This Way. However, it works better as an ability in-game if other individuals can see the shadows produced by Gold. EDIT - removed extraneous footnote EDIT 2 - Spoiler tagged spoilers

Oh, well I suppose that's a relief -
I have Persona 3:FES, but haven't been able to play it recently.

Another one - by Sabaton reminds me of the plight of the bridgemen in Way of Kings, and the pointlessness and desperation of the fighting on the shattered plains. For that matter, by Dire Straits calls to mind Dalinar, the only honorable man in a dishonorable war. On a different note,Control the Divine by Blind Guardian reminds me of envious Rashek, before his ascension and during the murky early years afterwards, before his power as Lord Ruler was solidified That said, as much as it reminds me of Watchmen, by the Smashing Pumpkins reminds me of the ending sequences of The Hero of Ages, with Scadrial slowly dying as a consequence of Ruin's onslaught. Forgive me for the Watchmen video - I couldn't find a slowed-down version of this without it by Machinae Supremacy reminds me of the Final Empire and its tyrannical god, the Lord Ruler. EDIT: It seems Machinae Supremacy has a lot of songs appropriate to TLR: calls to mind his basic attitude about the SkaaSpeaking of Blind Guardian, now that Sanderson is writing WoT, I would be remiss in failing to mention

Oh dear. Should I be worried? -
This may be a tad bit obscure, but by Machinae Supremacy reminds me a lot of the Skaa Rebellion in Mistborn.

Oh, cool, Homestuck thread Also, there is a new flash as of yesterday. Act 6 thus far has been amusing, and full of callbacks to previous acts. That said, 4/13 is coming up - I wonder what will happen

Hi, all. As is my custom across the internet, I go by the name Deoradhan. I first became acquainted with the works of Brandon Sanderson via a link from the time-devouring monstrosity known as tvtropes.org, and their excellent article on Mistborn. From there, I started Warbreaker, finished the Mistborn trilogy, and found myself fascinated with the magic systems and cultures presented therein. It was a natural step from there to peruse the annotations on the website, followed shortly by taking the finely-crafted link to this website. Having lurked for a short time, the discussion seemed interesting enough that I wanted to join in. As for myself - I am an 18-something Calgarian student intending to enter into a study of economics. In the rare time I am not reading, I can be found playing tennis, skiing, and debating. I look forward to a long time of enjoyable discussion.
