  1. @Oversleep if I wanted naked women in my reading I'd be heading back to WOT or start on GOT.
  2. Evil lawyers... a potential follow-up to the Evil Librarians?
  3. I don't care that much for the modern Vampire either. The only vampires I like are Dracula, Angel, Spike and Darren Shan. I just prefer my vamps being either complete monsters or suave and alluring like Dracula or just sticking to the vampire concept of drinking blood and staying out of the sun and not being all pretty. But my favorite monster has to be the werewolf since I love the whole transforming aspect. Wonder what his take on a Bespin-like planet would be and explaining how anyone can live on a planet that is pretty much just a gas giant.
  4. Not sure whether to put this here or on pet peeves. The people at my work cause so much chaos and double work. I'm trying to get the beginning of year inventory done and the higher ups are just causing chaos that they somehow think is helping! They want the teachers to get a couple of their TE's instead of having them do the free online version so I'm having to waste time going to the campuses to make tickets for them to sign instead of getting my job done so they can, oh I don't know, be ready for the freaking start of school!!! Then they order some new stuff and instead of sending it to us to get it inventoried and barcoded they send it straight to the campuses so I'm having to waste more time going there to do that, especially since in order to properly inventory these things I have to constantly be packing up a printer to print out the barcodes for the items. They also order a whole new, very unnecessary, reading curriculum that's almost 300 boxes with lots of little books that all needs to be inventoried BEFORE school starts. I've barely made a dent in that stuff! I can't even finish the the beginning of year inventory let alone getting this constant back and forth finished. Worse they won't get anyone to help me, it's just me and my mom so that shows how small our department is, and we have 4 campuses to do. As for the double work, you have no idea how many times I've had to relabel laptops because some 'genius' wants them renamed to say something different. I've also had to redo tickets because my mom doesn't give me the correct info, like she'll skip an item or she'll call it the wrong name, or she'll lose the ticket making me have to return everything and redo the whole ticket over! She even forces me to redo tickets if the teachers name is 'misspelled'. What difference does it make if McCluskey is spelled Mccluskey, which I have to be creative in the system since that would be using the same name twice and it doesn't do the same name twice for ticket names. Heck most of my double work is caused by my mom but she thinks it's caused by me or the 'geniuses' at admin.
  5. XD These were great to read! I haven't read any of Pat's books but if that's how he writes then I'll definitely pick up Kingkiller in the future. The funniest had to be either the 'when's book two coming out?' or him getting a little man crush on Brandon.
  6. I was thinking that Shadows for Silence could be considered part of the genre, but I haven't read it yet so I don't know the feeling of it yet. Had to look that up on the Coppermind. It doesn't quite sound like a horror, more of a possession story, but its article is so short I don't know how horrifying it's supposed to be. That would be great whether it's grim or a fantasy horror. He's already close with the magic system of Dakhor being body horror and murder so if he upped it just a smidge for Elantris 2, since it's supposed to be in Fjorden, he could have a good fantasy horror story without going straight up horror.
  7. Can I be Zuko? 'Toph, what are you doing? You trying to destroy my flying machine prototype?' Zuko says as he gets too close to Appa, causing fur to burn near the furnace powering the machine.
  8. I'm not that kind of writer. But who knows, it might be a boy and a cat so that it's an underdog story. If I went with that route then there might be lots of dead dogs by the end *evil laugh* It would also be a question of what effects the cats would give off to make people want to breed the magic out of them. Like would it be incredibly dangerous magic or magic that's stronger than a dog's and because cats are incredibly independent they are less controllable to use safely.
  9. @Slowswift I hope I get to one of the Stormlight books before November. My main concern is in October since I'm planning a book break then to read two horror books.
  10. I kind of wonder what a horror story by Brandon would be like, especially if it was Cosmere related.
  11. They do have a couple that I'm not sure if I'd recommend like Pom Poko. That ones done like a documentary. I'm wondering if it should be complimented with a secondary system involving cats, but done where people are trying to breed the magic out. I am thinking if I do a story for this system to have it be a 'boy and his dog' type of story.
  12. Yes, you've watched some of the good ones! Others I would recommend are Totoro (such a cute film that's just about what it's like being a child), Nausicaä (a great environmentalist story without feeling preachy), Kiki's Delivery Service (a great coming of age story), The Wind Rises (its historical but is actually not boring like most historicals are) and Princess Kaguya (mostly for the art style used since it's like a Japanese painting that's moving to tell the story) At least it wasn't a Shamalyann plot twist, that would've been major disappointment. What do you think of my dog magic system posted above?
  13. So far we've had a few different genres (comedy, superhero, detective) and story ideas from Brandon. Which genre that he hasn't touched yet would you most want to see him tackle? I'm not going to count sci fi since he's got a couple short stories in there along with the upcoming Mistborn Era 4 trilogy. It'd be interesting to see him do a historical story. Pretty much it could be someone from one of his contemporary settings gets thrown back in time on their world to a significant historical part of their world or even someone reading up on something historical and we're reading it as well.
  14. Watched a video on the messed up world of dog breeding and thought of a new magic system. What if dogs gave off magical effects and their breed determines the effect? Like a Saint Bernard would keep you warm, dalmatians can provide water (like you have an empty bucket to throw on a fire and it's magically full when thrown) and dashunds (the wiener dog) keeps you from going hungry. In this system breeding is done more for the strength of the magic than for looks but the whole thing would still have the same negative effects in real life where they provide better magic but at the health of the poor dog itself.
  15. Well Alcatraz is such a short read that I want to refresh myself for the second book, especially since I'm going in publishing order and Alcatraz just happens to be stuck in between two Mistborn books. Do love the characters but reading three 'dark' books in a row would be tiring and publishing order keeps things from going stale.
  16. Just finished Mistborn: The Final Empire. Here's a mini review: Favorite Characters: Sazed, Vin, Elend, Spook Most memorable moments: Vin saving Elemd in nothing but her underwear XD, Marsh killing the Inquisitors, the almost impalement from the nail, Elend's introduction, Sazed saving Vin's life, Spook and the handkerchief, everyone speaking eastern dialect to Breeze Next up to read is The Well of Ascension in my Sanderson-a-thon. Currently debating if I should do a reread of Alcatraz before The Hero of Ages.
  17. Well this is a thread for awesome ideas, not practical ones. Heck there could be a way to simplify what I said while keeping the general idea of a vigilante going to the worlds.
  18. I was thinking more someone who's a little grounded, not like the Lord Ruler, but uses the different magics to help people who would initially be unconnected with the greater Cosmere stuff (Hoid, Shards, 17th Shard) but towards the future timeline they get involved trying to save the people of the Cosmere from the events that would be happening. In a way I'm someone who is just a superhero/vigilante worldhopper going around protecting everyone and only their wit to figure out which magic to use for a certain situation, maybe even gathering their own team, like an Avengers/Justice League group, of specialized magic users of each magic system from all the worlds to combat Odium and the other evil Shards once things get serious.
  19. Which have you seen? We pulled a Sanderson, the thread was going one direction only for a twist to pop up!
  20. It kind of annoys me when my mom is trying to go healthy but when she gets a burger or sandwich she always has the healthy stuff taken off!
  21. Still not sure if I'll make it but I'm going to try my hardest to make it. @Iridium Savant so if you decide to wait until the day of the signing, no preordering, you'll be towards the end of the numbers?
  22. How about someone who's relatively normal (as in not Hoid or any of the other worldhoppers known so far) but can somehow use every single magic system, but only when they're not on the world it originates from. Like they can't use Aon's on Sel but can on Roshar, or can use the Metallic Arts everywhere except on Scadrial.
  23. I have seen some that were done by family members, but mostly when the film is really old or some of the people are dead. Maybe a bonus feature featuring him?
  24. Good luck sneaking into his basement. His Steel Inquisitors might catch you.
  25. He has no beads, he's our Lord Ruler!
