I just ordered the book from the BYU store. The link wasn't live until 7:09pm (I was refreshing every 3 seconds since 6:59).  My order number is 485-SO809. Does this indicate anything about where I am in the digital line?

My link is still giving me a 404, any idea what I can do?

  2. I think the big specific one for me was Adolin, I thought he was okay before but I didn't really care about him until I read everyone's interpretations of his character on the Shard.  I like how the Shard has helped me be more likely to pick out Cosmere-relevant themes and hints, but it is also nice going into a book with no theories or expectations.  (Though with Brandon, it'll always surpass expectations and blow theories out of the water anyway.)

Lopen, because Herdazians rule. And Chouta. And Sebarial is too lazy.

Who'd be more likely to kill Alcatraz Smedry, Kaladin or Raoden?

I was going to say Kaladin because he's more likely to kill anyone, but then I remembered Kal has a thing for protecting small boys.  So I guess Raoden by default?

Who would be more likely to toilet paper someone's house, Siri or Lift?

  4. I just finished this book, and I thought it was pretty dang awesome.  Thanks TwoMcMillion for the super awesome description of why it's awesome.  :)

Having read Steelheart before this, I see a lot of similarities between Joel and David.  I like them both a lot and I don't think I'd try to put one over the other right now, especially since David's had 3 books and Joel has only had 1.  But anyway, I really loved the ending and how Joel is able to do so much more than he realizes with his ability, even though he's not a Rhithmatist.  This book honestly has one of the most triumphant endings of any I've read.

Also, I'm having to do a huge amount of math before my Calculus class starts, so I really appreciate this book giving me a little bit more appreciation for the subject. :P

We'd love to have you! In case you haven't read through the entire thread to find the meeting time and place (and I don't blame you if you haven't), whichever day we end up meeting, we'll gather in the Cougareat at 7pm. =)

Great!  Thanks, that's really helpful!  I'm excited! :D

  6. Hi, would I be able to join too?  I don't have any evening classes so any day would work for me, preferably any day except Tuesday though because I will probably have the most homework on Tuesdays.

Also, on a random BYU related note, a couple days ago I saw where the Bookstore had so many copies of the leatherbound Mistborn on display and I don't think I ever wanted such a ridiculously expensive book so much in my life.
