  1. 11 minutes ago, Knight of Iron said:

"You have no purpose," he called, "you follow a prophecy because you fear the consequences, but you don't know what you're doing."

Talnic ignored the words, and continued walking back to where Ni, Cara, and Gal stood with the stranger.

  2. Just now, Knight of Iron said:

Exodus laughed back at the man. "Why do you even bother? Because of some prophecy?"

Talnic narrowed his eyes at the man. What was Xues even trying to do?

Sighing, Talnic turned and began walking away. There was no point that Talnic saw in furthering the conversation.

  3. 16 minutes ago, Knight of Iron said:

"Firstly, I'd like to mention, if you weren't already aware, that two of your followers will be leaving and aiding me in my quest. Minuet and Ara."

Talnic snorted. "None of these people are my followers. And they can do as they wish. I won't stop them from leaving."

  4. 15 minutes ago, Knight of Iron said:

    Exodus approached the Shadow.

"Could I have a word before I leave?"

Talnic cast a quick glance at Gal, Ni, and the stranger, before giving a curt nod towards the koi fish Xues.

Cara led Ni around the tower for a little bit, looking for The Shadow. After a little bit, Cara looked out a window and saw The Shadow with Gal, a random person, and a giant dead dragon.

"It looks like The Shadow is outside with a dead dragon." Cara told Ni, wondering if a dead dragon was too gory for him.

Well, I mean if The Shadow lets him stay, he'll probably be seeing some sort of dead animal. Cara thought.

Cara led Ni outside where The Shadow and the scholar person were talking with a random person.

"Hi, The Shadow, um..this is Ni." Cara said, gesturing to Ni. "Can he join our group? He wants to."

    @Tesh

Talnic looked to Cara, and the child she called Ni.

    "No," he said.

I will not risk the life of a child.

Gal looks at him for a moment, then says, turning to Talnic: "I'm... Not sure if he's threatening to to kill us, or says we killed this dragon. Did you kill it?"

    @Tesh

Talnic nodded slowly, moving his hand to the sword, not moving his eyes from the stranger. "I did," he said.

  7. 16 hours ago, Onimur said:

Rylan stepped back warily, hearing the sound of footsteps grow closer from around the tower. He raised a curious brow as two figures emerged from the side of the tower. The first was tall, with short dark hair, wearing a large black coat, and the second pale with brown hair. Rylan spoke again in Faldaan, addressing the humanoid creatures before him.

"Pardon my unexpected and uninvited arrival, this kind of thing happens far more often than you would think. Did either of you two slay this mighty beast here?"

    @Tesh @Trutharchivist

Talnic cocked his head at the gibberish. "Excuse me?"

  8. 2 hours ago, Trutharchivist said:

"Well, there are some temples built on such points, I think. And generally, if you hear of an oracle it'll usually be around such an opening. I will come to help you with that - I have my own reasons to try and contact a Spiritual entity."

    Gal follows Talnic while speaking.

    -short time skip-

Talnic walked through the large front door of the tower, turned right, and began walking along the perimeter of the tower towards where he hoped the man was still standing.

It was odd for Talnic to consider that he might figure out the origin of his prophecies. They had always been an unexplainable phenomenon, and now that he knew that there was a reason, even though he didn't know what it was, it left him feeling annoyed. He did not like the idea of some external force pushing him to do things.

I wonder if there would be a way to separate us, he thought.

Talnic took a few more steps and the man came into view.

Oops, I thought he was on the roof of the tower. My bad.

Rylan slowly stood, and instinctively took a step back when he saw the body of the dragon beside him. After being sure it wasn't moving, Rylan looked up towards the tower. Grimacing, he rubbed his cut wrist, and then called out in songlike Faldaan,

"Is... Is anyone there? There's a dead dragon here and I don't remember killing it."

Hearing a distant voice from down at the base of the tower, Talnic poked his head over the side. The man who had appeared earlier had woken, and was standing. There was no one else Talnic could see, so he decided to go down to him.

"I'll start making my way down," he shouted. Talnic then turned back to Gal, and began moving to the stairs. "Where do you think we could find one of these places? Would you be willing to help me find one once we finish... whatever it is we're doing?"

"... In theory. In practice, you are probably under the influence of an unknown entity. If the prophecy started when you still followed the Satheth, it might be an entity connected to this religion, though if they don't have some doctrine about prophecies it's probably not the case. You have a Connection, anyway, and we probably should try to use it to contact your entity."

Gal stops. He seems to lose some of reluctance, and slowly starts to show real interest in the topic.

"I haven't had any involvement with the religion for years," Talnic said carefully, making sure not to mention Rine. "I hardly remember any of the doctrine." He paused for a moment. "How should we go about contacting this... Entity?"

Would now be a good time for Rylan to wake up, do you think? Or do you want to wait for a bit longer?

  11. 5 hours ago, Trutharchivist said:

Tesh, would you be fine with having a Spiritual entity Talnic is bound to? It might not have much effect if all it does is giving him prophecies, but then again, it might have. Maybe we could work out another explanation to why bad things happen when people don't obey the prophecies.

    Quote

    Sure, that'd be fine.

"Hmm... Sometimes people are picked without worshipping the entity that picked them. We don't yet know much of the SpR, so I don't know what entity that might be. Of course, there might be other explanations to this..."

Talnic stood silently, waiting for Gal to continue.

  12. On 3/2/2021 at 1:29 PM, Trutharchivist said:

"This sounds like the probable effect of some separate entity. It probably means you are either closely connected to one or you are the chosen champion of one. What god do you worship?"

Talnic snorted. "None of them. During my childhood, I followed the Satheth religion, but after..." Talnic cut off. "I don't worship any divinities."

  13. 13 hours ago, Trutharchivist said:

"Well, knowledge of the Realms came from study. I... know some entities of the Ideas Realm, and sometimes there's an appearance of something from the Souls' Realm, though this one has always been the most mysterious. And Necromancers have some connection to the SpR, and they told me a little about it." He stopped, considering Talnic's question. "Well, you might have stronger connection than most people to the SpR, so you act as a gateway to prophecies. Or it might be that some entity chose you as it's champion - those things happen against people's will, though that means they can't force you to do anything. Spiritual Entities are bound by some Rules, though so far, we only know that they can't affect free will and that they have to stay true to their word. Unguided prophecies - prophecies of the first kind, given to you through your own Connection to the SpR - are generally unbiased toward any Spiritual Entity, but might be dangerous, being unguided. I don't know which is your case."

Talnic furrowed his brow. "Well... If I ignore a prophecy, there tends to be some sort of negative effect that impacts me and others who are involved. Might that help you figure out what's going on?"

Tesh: How many hours have you slept this week?

    Salad: ...Dare
    Tesh: Go to bed.
Salad: I don’t like this game.

    I feel called out :P

(I’m sorry for summoning you so many times but @Tesh)

When I saw "The Awakened Salad has mentioned you in a topic: Future Overlord Worship," my first thought was "Storms, what did Salad do now? Have they decided to start a cult around the Sanderavalanche?"

But yes, this is very accurate.

Out of curiosity... How many hours have you slept this week?

"Well, generally the world is built of many Realms. As far as we know there are four, though there might be more: the Physical Realm is the one we all live in, the physical world, made of normal matter. Keeping this matter in it's shape is what we call Physical Ire - it may be called the magical energy of the Physical Realm. The second Realm is the Realm of Minds and ideas - it has it's own Ire, as probably does the third Realm, the souls' Realm, but now we talk about prophecies, which typically come from the Spiritual Realm. You see, both time and space are terms that can be used almost only on the Physical Realm, and so they practically don't exist in the SpR. Because of that, beings of the Spiritual Realm can see the future of our Realm. Why they care to tell us is unclear, though they almost surely have their own intents. They can affect the world in small measures - sometimes, though not always, this is how they make people obey them. You can't always know their intent. Is that enough?"

Gal looks a little tired from the explanation.

Talnic furrowed his brow. "Really? And how do you know of these realms?" He paused for a moment. "And that didn't explain why I sometimes give prophecies."

  16. 13 hours ago, Trutharchivist said:

    Gal walks to the roof.

"So," he says, forcing himself to speak even though he doesn't want to, "you wanted me to tell you what I know about prophecies, and I need to question you a little about the topic, so I figured we could start. From my knowledge, prophecies are glimpses to the Spiritual Realm, usually given by some kind of spiritual entity. This is the basics, at least. I can try and explain more."

Steeling himself, Talnic said, "Talnic. Just... call me Talnic." He crossed his arms and leaned back against the railing. "And some more information would be greatly appreciated," he said.
He tried to ignore how directly Gal was looking at him, tried to resist the urge to run and hide. He was not meant to be in the open. He was meant to hide in the shadows, away from the perception of others. But he needed more information.

  17. 6 hours ago, Trutharchivist said:

Gal saw that people seemed to be too busy to answer him, and, recalling that Minuet said the Shadow killed a dragon, he pulls out one of the older notebooks from his back and went upward, to where Minuet seemed to be coming from. The library was in the second highest floor, so he found himself looking around the highest floor.

"Um... Hello? Mr. Shadow, are you here?"

    @Tesh

Talnic turned from the form of the unconscious man and opened the door to the interior of the tower. "I'm up here," he shouted down.

  18. 27 minutes ago, Trutharchivist said:

First thing first, Gal is on the stairs near the library. Second, unless Talnic jumped down from the I-don't-know-how-many-meters-high (metric system go!) tower, his still on the roof. Third, it won't matter, since Talnic won't hear Gal. I'll have to wait for Exodus to answer, apparently. Which he probably wouldn't do. And Gal might not trust him. Bother that.

    Quote

Thank you so much for saying that because people were at some point talking about someone being on the ground or the dragon being on the ground and I was so confused, but I had thought I had just missed something.
So Talnic is on the room of the tower with Rylan who is unconcious.
If you want, you could just have Gal wander around and eventually get to the roof or something, if Exodus doesn't answer.

Gal put the scroll back in his pocket and walked toward the people gathered at the stairs.

"Do any of you know where the Shadow is? I need to talk to him."

    Where is Gal?
I think Talnic is at the base of the tower hanging out with unconscious Rylan and a dead dragon.

What's this letter/color business? This is some dumb memey thing, isn't it?

No, some of us were actually all discussing this thread in a Discord server, and someone said we should ask what colors different letters were.

First one is great and a classic. I liked the second one. Haven't seen the third one.

I personally refuse to acknowledge the existence of the second two movies. The first one is perfect on its own, in my opinion.
