Long Game 60: The Shadow Over the Forests of Hell
Rathmaskal replied to Elandera's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Rathinald here. Xino Rath (me) CadCom Araris Hats Sart Ark ~~ Welp, fixed. I missed that in the D2 writeup. Patrick ~~ Well, dear fellow, you see, it's not a matter of finding the cult members, but finding their leaders. By eliminating the people who have gone insane and the people who at least have a soft clear, I seem to have effectively a 50/50 chance of finding either The Deep One or The Founder. If you have a more damning case against someone who has gone insane, I'd like to hear it. In light of this new evidence, I'm willing to waive the first part of my fee as I've clearly not held up my end of the bargain (if, however, Mr. Punnington turns out to be a member of the cult, I will invoice you for the full amount) So, among the remaining non-insaners, we have Enasni, Tim, Kills-in Pimple, and Arr. K Thousantoo to discuss. I don't know why I'm being so resistant to suspecting Tim. Perhaps it's time to follow along with everyone else and vote for the man. The remaining three players have not been overly active unfortunately, so it's tougher to get a read on them. *ninja Fade* There remains the possibility that both Tim and Mr. Punnington are both members of this vile cult. I'll join the vote against Tim for now. -

Rathinald here. I thought the elderly were supposed to have learned patience as they aged? Fear not, old woman, I have come to a conclusion. It's quite simple, really when you look at the facts: Several people here have claimed that Tim's survival two days ago was due to intervention by the very cult we're after, implying the Tim himself is a cult member. There were four people involved in the vote who voted on shane! Tim Mindful Mr Freegift Patrick Punnington Of the four of them, Tim, of course was trying to save himself, Mr Freegift has departed, and Mindful has proven to be not a cultist, but a thief! As I saw with my own eyes! So, Patrick Punnington would be the logical choice to be a cultist IF Tim is also a cultist. However, what if Tim is NOT a cultist? In my vast experience working to take down this type of activity (who could forget the disappearances in Laksamton last year, or ritual sacrifices in Lord Flamingo's castle the year before) I've found that when the cultists themselves are not the targets, they tend to lend their support rather haphazardly. Which means that it is far more likely that Patrick is a cultist than Tim! Additionally, Patrick (Venture) has managed to maintain his sanity the entire time so far when we know that multiple cultists also have this ability! I'll take the first part of my fee now. -

Rathinald here... Seems we have a couple candidates being discussed at this point: CadCom (2) - Fifth, Araris Xino (1) - CadCom -

Rathinald here again. ~~ I saw that as well and kind of had the same thought. Another thought is that there's at least one elim who has played enough with Aman to weigh the possibility that this was a bluff. Looking at the player list...that doesn't really narrow much down. Edit: Also, dang it Fifth, I haven't got a ton of RP flavor in my posts, but you put me on the defensive, so I missed the little I've been consistent with (and since I started with a quote, I can't figure out how to edit it in correctly) -
Long Game 60: The Shadow Over the Forests of Hell
Rathmaskal replied to Elandera's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Aman did PM me about halfway through the last night cycle, but I was out of town all weekend and only had some brief moments I was able to pop in to the game (and I don't think any of that was during the last day cycle through most of the night cycle. Aman didn't reveal much to me other than that he wanted me to track Sart (apparently he made that request of multiple people...interesting) I'd mention that Aman said he read me as village from the time I was active, but I don't think that carries much weight since it's basically me saying that. OK, I mentioned it anyway. Edit: Oh, and I did respond to his PM...we had a short conversation about non-SE life while I was getting caught up on the thread. -

Rathinald here again. ~~ Fair enough. Not a full clear by any means, but enough to remove you from my first wave of logic: Xino Rath (me) CadCom Araris Venture Hats Sart Ark Thanks, looks like this was clarified N1: -

Rathinald here again. ~~ I missed that as I was reviewing everything. Thanks. Tbh, I'm not sure that's a stronger clear than insanity. The WGG is still a strong play... And insanity doesn't clear someone from being a cultist, just from being The Founder or The Deep One. I'm sure everyone has noticed this and it's been mentioned, but it's something we have to work with that I've been planning on bringing up after we had a reasonable number of people go insane...might be a bit too early for this I guess, but if it helps focus me, I'm going for it. Also, I've been trying to figure out how you would have survived based on the rules we know. Possibilities: Elder Sign Pendant - One-time, passive item that protects a player from an attack by the Order - this would require that you're either the archaeologist or that player trusted you enough to pass you this item. (Oh, I guess it's possible someone had this as a starting item as well) This wouldn't be a governor/bodyguard situation, as the bodyguard would have died in this instance. And here's a good one: but any of their actions have a 20% chance of failing. It's possible that The Founder submitted the kill and got unlucky. Not sure I see anything else. Either way, the elder sign pendant seems a decent possibility unless there's another secret rule or role that has a protect of sorts. -

Rathinald here. Seems Innocent was something of the sort. Now, I have something to report! I tracked Mindful last night, and I have discovered that he was stealing from Tim! The nerve! ~~ OK, the green text implies hat Aman was village, but I believe that's a role that wasn't necessarily mentioned to start the game. So, I'm sure there was at least a grain of truth in what Aman was mentioning yesterday. Other than that, are we sure that Sart actually converts to a village role now that he's been caught? I don't think it's explicitly stated in the rules. Seems like it would be rather tough to complete the wincon after being caught though, so we can probably accept that mostly at face value. Two players having gone insane means that either the Deep One used their ability or there was some rather unfortunate luck last night. The following people have not gone insane: Xino Rath (me) CadCom Araris Venture Hats Sart Ark If all the cult roles are assigned, I believe two of those are the named cultists. I've crossed off names I'm not going to vote for: Rath - not voting for myself obviously... Sart - seems a soft clear at least I'll do some further updates to this list later. But we may be able to get a decent vote off this kind of logic. -

Rathinald here. Hello everyone, I apologize for my recent absence. Had an emergency Exorcism to take care of back in Irlton. I'll try to familiarize myself with the details of what's happened while I was gone. -

Rathinald here. Seems you people don't much like the literary kind. ~~ Sorry for not hopping back on and voting - had a 3.5 hour flight then a 2 hour drive. (I'm away from home through Sunday, but I'll be able to hop in here from time to time) -

Rathinald here. Indubitably. Quite astute old woman. No one should ever doubt the wisdom of the elderly, no matter how frail or sickly they may look. I merely seek to determine whether or not I agree with Fade's reasoning or, barring that, if it could give me insight into something else *ninja Araris*. -

Long Game 60: The Shadow Over the Forests of Hell
Rathmaskal replied to Elandera's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Rathinald here. Hrrmm now, it seems we've got a bit to talk about here. See, there's definitely some good guys and some bad guys...and some other guys too. It's a good thing you brought in someone with my, er, expertise. Oh? You don't know what I do? Then why'd you hire me? Well, have you ever heard of the exorcism of Santa Rathma? Or the witch trials of North Shardington? Those were only possible because of me. ~~ OK, it looks like Devotary already kind of pointed this out, but insanity is going to be a great tool to soft clear people from being elim - it looks like two of the elim roles are immune to insanity (The Founder is listed as 'can't go fully insane' so I'm assuming they'd never be announced as insane) I'm glad that Fifth pointed out the Bounty Hunter role (well, he didn't explicitly point it out, but implied it with the 'this game would be little fun if it could be solved by mass roleclaims') because I was going to make myself look foolish and throw that out there. (Seriously, I know I would have been shot down immediately...I don't often suggest role claiming, and am usually opposed to it, but it seemed like it may have been useful this game) The RP so far is great. I'll admit, I've never played anything Cthulu-related (although I do have a Cthulu-themed board/mini game coming in from Kickstarter fairly soon), but I've heard some good things and am excited to get some of the flavor here. That's what I've got for now. As with most other people, I'm sure I'll get some additional analysis and such in later. -

OK, two more questions: If I vote in thread and then use Voice in the Crowd, how is that going to be reflected in the writeup? If Alvron plays, is he just automatically insane for the entire game? -

Do I get to be the first signup? Edit: Edit #2 - Questions Voice in the Crowd - in this case, do you not submit a vote in the thread? Or can you submit a vote in the thread and use this action to override said vote? Insanity - can't vote = vote will not be counted? Or get yelled at if they try to vote? Oops, no need to answer - if they're announced in the writeup, there's no advantage to either option Insanity - Are the percentage chances additive or evaluated separately? ie, If I use Discover the Hidden, is it a 20% chance and then a 10% chance? Or is it a 30% chance? (It looks like most other places, you explicitly note it as an increase in chance) Thanks! -
Wait, is this where we find out we're actually voting on concluding so that the elims win?! Waaaaaaaaaaaait a second...

It looks like regardless of whether or not our seer, whomever that may be, is able to target the inquisitor, whomever that may be, the inquisitor will still be able to get off kills. SO, hopefully our lurcher, whomever THAT may be, protects our seer, again, some unknown person. If that happens tonight, there shouldn't really be a way for the inquisitor to turn convert anyone if MY math is correct. N3 - Lurcher protects seer, seer targets inquisitor, inquisitor kills lurcher D4 - Lynch inquisitor N4 - Seer targets inquisitor, inquisitor kills seer (I guess this depends on OoA) D5 - Final lynch on inquisitor

I don't think Drake has been online since he promised to Soothe a vote, so I think it's likely that order is in. Stick To even things back out.

Ummm, this may be a great idea. So, right now we're at 8-1; Inq x 3 Sequence of events after that: N3 7-1; Inq x2 D4 6-2; Inq x2 N4 6-2; Inq x1 D5 5-2; Inq x1 N5 5-1; Inq dead D6 4-1 Is that math wrong? If not, that may be our best chance honestly if we truly think Stick and Fura are the prohibitive choices for inquisitor. Current vote count: Fura (2) - Sart, CadCom Sart (0) - Fura Stick (1) - Fura Stick for now Edit: Please multiple people check my math and vote count.

OK, hey folks. Sorry, weekend stole my activity again. :/ A couple quick notes: Thank you CadCom (not sure if anyone else did as well) for pointing out that the Inquisitor not being able to convert anyone doesn't really change the math of this game. The fact that the inquisitor is limited by number of allies, not really by spikes, means that we didn't really gain any ground there. Fura, that's an interesting point regarding my gameplay. I think you're 100% accurate. Which is slightly ironic since I tend to actually have more fun being an elim. (And actually, my best RP I think was in my first elim game here) I'll have to consider that next time I role elim (and really, I should probably do a bit more with respect to gameplay when I role village) I don't think we should get too caught up on which roles are more likely here. Yes, balance-wise it typically makes sense to keep more powerful roles to lower quantities (assuming role madness) but that has kind of turned into a game breaking mechanism in itself.

So difficult to be eloquent with rapping. So I will just grab a normal post here. I am a soother. Votes were looking ugly against me D1, so I didn't want to chance it. (Was hoping to see someone else try to claim that role, but I don't think it's really a possibility now) So, with Aman claiming seeker now, it actually makes a bit more sense as to why he would have claimed roleless, so I'm definitely leaning a bit more toward this being a role madness game. AND, since we have 4 claims now, would it be worth it for the remaining 8 players to claim? I'm actually thinking it would... (I know, I know, I'm usually not a fan of role claiming, but this game could be an exception with the tight timeline we have here.) I'm slightly curious why Fura didn't see the V/V possibility of Aman being mistaken. I guess we just put Aman up on a pedestal and assume he isn't going to make mistakes. *Cicada ninja*
