  1. "Take chances, make mistakes. That's how you grow. Pain nourishes your courage. You have to fail in order to practice being brave." --Mary Tyler Moore
  2. I think it really says something about the Sandersonian community that not only do we have an entire website dedicated to his books, but we have a thread on said website discussing the possible slogans of the site by taking out of context quotes
  3. "Talk sense to a fool and he calls you foolish" "Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups" "Stupidity is the same as evil if you judge by the results"
  4. This thread: People think way too much about how to make it look like they aren't thinking enough in a futile attempt to get people to like them
  5. "Better to remain silent and be thought a fool, then to speak out and remove all doubt" So we can all thank good ole Abe Lincoln for why my post count is not in the thousands...
  6. Huh, didn't expect that.... now if only someone would say that about my crackpot theories... You know you're a sanderfan when none of your theories make sense, but you're proud anyway. Calderis in all fairness though I don't truly believe that Extesian is more interesting than you. You are both unique and amazing in your own ways and when you are both going back and forth with each other on a thread it's amazing. (Case in point: "these stupid ranks" thread)
  7. @Calderis @Extesian I do it because you two always have good, quality theories and even if you don't you are posting genuinely interesting stuff or helping to support or debunk someone else's theory. And extesian, even if you were in the same timezone it wouldn't make a difference because I'm not really active during most of the day so I always have the backlogged emails from one of you and the current emails from the other. It's like a positive feedback loop because the more I post in response to you guys the more, in turn, you post, so the more emails I get so the more I post... you get the point Edit: Although technically Extesian is generally MORE interesting than calderis and must have better theories due to the fact that you two are both the same rank yet Extesian has nearly 600 fewer posts than Calderis.... Just sayin'
  8. That's what my earlier line of thought was about because in one of my previous posts I was debating whether or not the race of humanoids were just invested or if they were actual splinters. I really started thinking about that specifically because @Calderis posed the question: what would happen to the people when they reform into the shard? So I agree with you that they are likely splinters otherwise the shard rebuilding itself eventually would have to drain all of the investiture from a race of people essentially leaving them drab, and the parent shard would need to know where each individual of the race is. However if they are splinters that were meant to behave like people than the parent shard would inherently know where they all were, would it not? And that would just generally make everything less complicated so I believe that given the choice between investing in people and creating a race of splinters, the shard would make the splinters edit: What If the shard placed splinters in dead corpses so they were already lacking a spirit web to be filled by the splinter? Then they were given life and are the ancestors of the present Iriali so only the originals were technically splinters because then as time went on the amount of investiture per person was diluted as the population size grew. The more people the less investiture to go around. Am I making sense? Idk I've had a long day...
  9. You know you're a Sanderson when you follow both @Calderis and @Extesian and have it set to email you everytime they post and you pick up your phone to find 54 emails
  10. I like your thread name choosing skills... I wonder where you got the idea.....
  11. You know you're a sanderfan when you've posted multiple times on a thread entitled "You know you're a sanderfan when... (part 2)"
  12. That part was spoiled for me real quick after I read WoR. But thanks for the advice anyway
  13. To answer all the "favorite" questions, I like Wayne, I like Words of Radiance (and everything else), Non-cosmere fav would be the Rithmatist, and if I could live on any cosmere world... I'd say Southern Scadrial during the period of time right before they start interacting with the Northerners. *takes a bite of cookie* *spits it out* Huh, I don't remember chocolate chips tasting so... iron-y
  14. Hey, you know the old saying by Martin Luther Cookie jr. : Do not judge a man by the choice of his cookies, but rather the content of his cosmere theories And being friends sounds good... for now (also sorry for the double post I tried editing this into my last post but I couldn't get the quoted post to work)
  15. Almost all the cosmere, save for warbreaker and white sand, and I've read the Alcatraz series, the reckoners, the Rithmatist, and... I think that's it? And also, don't tell me when I can and cannot eat the cookies...
  16. You know you're a sanderfan when it's very difficult not to derail a thread while discussing the magnificence of everyone's favorite character: Stick!
  17. Grab something to hold onto, because this is about to get crazier. What if, going by my previous line of reasoning, this could mean that ambition is the shard that just wants to survive? This part is even less likely than the rest of my theory, but depending on when that WOB is from, and when we learned the name of ambition, it is theoretically possible... maybe?
  18. So hi guys, I forgot to make one of these a couple months ago when I joined, but guess what I exist!! Most of the time when I post stuff it's really insane/half-baked theories that may be just crazy enough to work. And, uh, I like... long walks on the beach, and food... *sees bowl of cookies* Oh cool what are these! *picks one up* Oh they're oatmeal raisin, nevermind...
  19. Preferably the lightweavers blade, and then I can just use an illusion to make the other people think I'm sharing, but hide it for myself when they're caught in the lie
  20. Do I get an honourblade too? And if so, which one??
  21. All of you people have such bad insults and witless remarks that it is physically painful to the extent that I am now UNfollowing this thread. Goodbye fools
  22. You know you're a sanderfan when you get extremely excited that both @Calderisand @Extesian say that they like one of your theories (even if the theory isn't likely)
  23. @Calderis My belief is that it depends on how exactly they were created. Were they already a race of people that this adventure-seeking shard invested in? Or are they a race completely created from nothing by this shard? If it is the latter than I imagine that once they complete the quest to get to the seventh land then they will all suddenly understand what they are and what the one is and somehow, I guess, ascend and all form into the shard again. It would probably be similar to how you reform a splintered shard because that's essentially what this is -- a shard that has been turned into many fragments. If it is the former, however, then I'm not entirely sure. Especially with the people who are a mixed breed of part Iriali and part something else. Perhaps it will be as simple as the excess investiture being drained from their systems and returned to the shard. Random theory i just thought of: What if the one is ambition? I mean, we know that ambition was splintered before being fully invested in threnody and we know that it was splintered away from the planet. What we don't know is where the splinters of its power went. Perhaps when ambition knew he was dying he turned himself into a race of people and instilled in them a belief in The One, which was weakened over time. That could explain why he fled from odium which doesn't seem like a very ambitious thing to do. Instead, He ambitiously created a group of people to traverse different invested systems with the hope that one day they will be able to reform into Ambition so that he can live once again.
  24. I don't think that The One would be adonalsium because the way the religion explained, it made it seem like there were no people before the one spilt itself. I could be interpreting it wrong, but that's what I got out of it and if this is the case than that means it can't be adonalsium. However, If the one is a shard that could be a very interesting storyline going on in the background. When Préservation and Ruin created people on Scadrial, they placed a small piece of both in the people, but if there is a race of people made from an entire shards worth of power, that would mean they have a lot more inherent Investiture, wouldn't it? So then would that mean that they would make stronger surgebinders or allomacners or awakeners, etcetera? Or would it not have any passive effects other than their distinctive appearances? And what would the intent of a shard have to be for it to want to fully invest in a race of people? And would the consciousness of the shard itself still exist, despite fully being invested? Or will it not return at all until they reach the seventh land?
  25. Sorry, I don't think these chulls can understand a word you are saying. You have to dumb it down for them. Attention Chulls: You all suck and we don't. End of sentence
