  1. When you convince two of your siblings to read Sanderson and get and account on the Shard.
  2. Today I found a small steel pin in my sweater, and my first thought was that it must have been the cookie I ate earlier. My next thought was "Do I get to be a coinshot now?"
  3. I just looked over it again myself. It is amazing how much simpler it seemed when I was typing it. Do you want the instructions for Windows or Linux? I think they will make more sense if I am not trying to explain two different methods at the same time. Would it help if I posted screenshots of what I am doing?
  4. I just tried to explain the poor quality of the school wifi using duraluminminds.
  5. You will need python 2.7 and nltk installed. For Windows and Mac OS X, the downloads are at https://www.python.org/downloads/release/python-2714/, and for Linux it is usually already installed. Detailed instructions for installing nltk can be found at http://www.nltk.org/install.html. For Linux, sudo pip install -U nltk For Windows, download nltk at https://pypi.python.org/packages/4c/0a/b462e417b47cdfaed41552f987854b6fbc968205429f52ec96d6fb10ed76/nltk-3.2.5.win32.exe#md5=2861e7fc2f11d2b6b9533f9a90f141f8, and then run the file. Once you have python and nltk installed, copy and paste the code into a blank text file (use something like notepad, Microsoft Word will not work) save the file (make sure that it has the .py file extension), and then close it. Find the file and right click on it, then go to properties and make the file executable. Next, open a command prompt and type start path_to_file\name_of_file on Windows or path_to_file/name_of_file on Linux or Mac, and then press enter. The command prompt should go to a new line as if the computer is taking a long time to complete the command. On this line, type sentence="your sentence here"&ref="home.htm" and replace "your sentence here" with what you want translated, then press enter and control+d. Depending on your computer, the command may take a long time (mine is from 2005), and should then produce some HTML code. Paste this into a new empty file (once again, do not use Microsoft Word) and then save and exit. Right click on the file and select "open with" and then pick your web browser. If this does not work, or I did not explain very well, please let me know.
  6. When you decide to create a translator for Artisan's Script because you were curious about how it looked. http://www.17thshard.com/forum/topic/62182-artisans-script/
  7. I just go done reading Warbreaker, and decided to make something to translate text into colors. I can't figure out where to put it, so I will just leave it here. (Spoilered for length) For those of you who want to run it, you will need python 2.7 and nltk installed. It works bes on a web server, but will run fine on a computer.
  8. Thanks for pointing that out to me. Not sure how I missed it the first time.
  9. Unfortunately for Krabs, this new commotion distracted him and Adonalsium succeed in swapping minds with him.
  10. As a Theorybreaker, I feel obliged to find something wrong with everything. My one question is how the cognitive realm can have different manifestations of the same general thing. In other words, if the cognitive realm is where the strings between spiritual and physical pass through, how is it made of beads on Roshar and vapors on Scadrial? Overall, I love this theory. It seems to have described everything that I can think of in the Cosmere in a solid and detailed manner.
  11. Out of curiosity, what do you use to make the site? I am looking into running a website, and I like how this one is set up.
  12. I use Debian with LXDE. I can't stand the new UI on the raspberry pi. Is there a way to change it to something different while sticking to the Raspian OS?
  13. In Mistborn, each category of metal had internal/external and pushing/pulling. I have seen the categories, but I have not seen any mention of what the shardic equivalents of pushing, pulling, internal, and external might be. I think that a large part of this method of categorizing things is that by using all three ways to distinguish between the shards will help us to narrow down what possible intents may be left. As an example, there is a distinction between precision and accuracy. While they are often thought of as similar, they are actually quite different, like how determination and ambition are both a huge drive to achieve something, but are not exactly the same.
  14. I was not trying to say it would be a fight or a dual. I just wanted to have an example to make my point. Out of curiosity, how do you think the champions will be tested? There will need to be some way of discovering which champion is better so that the winning side may be decided. Also keep in mind that "better" may have different requirements, such as best magic user, or perhaps the challenge would be a tournament with judges scoring the champions in different events.
  15. The choice of a champion will be heavily influenced by the contest the champion is for. There is also nothing that says that the champion must be humanoid. If the contest is a one on one dual without magic, then I would nominate a chasmfiend as my champion. Alternatively, nominate a flea, and no one will ever find the champion to kill it.
  16. In Shadows for Silence in the Forests of Hell, silver is extremely valuable, and the Obligator that imprisons Vin says that it is considered worthless by many allomancers, who would be the main buyers of metal on Scadrail. This would make exporting silver a good option if it could reach the Forests of Hell and be sold for something worth little there (fruits?) and brought back to Scadrail, where the nobility pays for the trip and the low price of silver with the high price of fruit.
  17. I think that Felt, the chief of the Venture spies, appears in The Stormlight Archives.
  18. Are there any units for Soulflame, or any way to tell how far along the Sentient Progression an entity is?
  19. Is there a minimum time that two entities with synergy must be in contact before they are connected? Is there a minimum cool-down time between synergistic bonds?
  20. Thank you for reminding me. If I am understanding everything else, doesn't this make it impossible to get to synergy?
  21. Does this apply to incoming infusions as well, such that you need to accept any Soulfire that someone else tries to give you? Also, I think that this may be a typo.
