  1. I will sign up as Whatterthose`); DRO- TABLE Elims;-- I left out the P in DROP because I’m not sure whether the Shard’s “database inputs are sanitized,” whatever the comic meant by that.
  2. Great game! If I may say, I really liked the mechanics and the different roles we had. They were pretty balanced, it seemed, since there were two factions of elims with less than the normal amount of people. Three Escaped Inmates, three Skybreakers, one Crazy Ivan, and the rest villagers. The RP and write-ups were really good; I hope to play a game like this again. As this was my first blackout game, I must say I enjoyed it much.
  3. Alright, I will in fact not change my character’s name, but be a true-to-form pinch hitter. I look forward to the potential challenge...
  4. I will volunteer to be a pinch hitter; I forget whether those are different characters than the ones who leave, so just in case I’ll Aonify a name I’ve already got: Nalter. Nalteor was a citizen who didn’t know a lot of goings in the city of Arelon. He just did stuff at houses, like writing Aons and tasting food for people who had allergies, enemies, and suspicions.
  5. Some posthumous RP: A disclaimer—none of this has spoilers, so no reading anything into this. If it seems like something indicated an action, then ignore it because it’s not what happened—as far as you know. Also, I tried to include every major event in the thread including RP and the hiccup epidemic, but not stuff that had been completed and no longer discussed (like Drake’s death, the accusation-throwing If cycle 2, etc). Also, sorry to @Herowannabe for Nalter’s reaction to chouta—this RP was in the making from the mention of tastespren, I just wasn’t sure whether to post this now or during the aftermath post. ———- Unfortunately, the bacon chouta, as with everything in this city, did not associate with a memory. Perhaps the problem was that the memory had to be unrelated to the taste, and that something interesting had to happen with the taste, but not because of it. Complete with his studies in the library (finding out about coolspren, and their relation to specific phrases like “Deal with it” and to vertically sliding tinted glasses), and his efforts as a politician, he still had some interesting things going on. He had forgotten about the killings. Storms! Nalter was getting too distracted. He didn’t know who the killers were, just that three of them had left and a few of them died. They seemed to be a rival group of killers, and the one that left would bother Kharbaranth no more. The only murderers left were those escaped prisoners, and everyone was having trouble finding those. Even more, there was an epidemic of the hiccups. It seemed that if you tried to call someone with the hiccups out for attempting murder, you would catch the hiccups too—though Nalter has somehow avoided those. He was a cautious one, which had brought him the position of politician. He mad careful, thought-out decisions; he became a scholar before becoming a politician because he did all this thinking. Nalter thought about who the real murderer could be. Of course, nothing came up, so instead thoughts turned to Nerkel. That cousin had gotten it into his head to join Sadeas’ army. With his joking and attitude, he’d get sent to the bridge crews really quickly. At least the man was competent at what was told. Nalter thought this was the case, at least. Finally, tastespren got into his thoughts again, and Nalter slept. …….. His chest was on fire. The wound was fatal. Nalter had a few minutes. He tasted blood in his mouth. And he remembered. …. Running around playing tag, Nalter was getting tired. He had chased two people for minutes, but they refused to slow down. Desperate, he dived to the side at a runner who came close to Nalter. He missed, and hit his own face as he broke his fall. A tooth fell out, and he tasted blood. He was screaming in pain, and quit the game. It was the last time he played tag, and Nalter decided to do fewer activities where he would have a chance to trip and get hurt. ………. There was a spren to Nalter’s side. It looked like a red cylinder, rotating back and forth like a pendulum. A tastespren. Of course! Many people tasted blood here; there was a murderer about. And…other things that brought blood. He could see it! A room, wherein people died to see the future. It was here, in the city. And...it happened at Taravangian’s hand, to learn of the future. That didn’t matter. Nalter had seen a tastespren. He didn’t give a Death Rattle, choosing to say, “tastespren exist. No more study required.” Reporters came up to him to ask about it, but no one ever found the meaning of this. Except an ardent who realized what it meant, and then the movie Citizen Nalter ended.
  6. Alright, I’m on mobile right now but I will see how fast I can edit in something. ————————- Nalter sat in the library. There was nothing left in the city to taste, so he came here to study. Three people had left last night, and Nalter wasn’t sure how connected they were to the murders. They had simply disappeared, and when Nalter noticed, he couldn’t find any trace of them, or how they left the city. He went to go study something else than these murders; they were so unpredictable that Nalter had little chance of finding any pattern in them. He came into the smaller library, the one that discussed spren. Nalter needed a new spren to study, and he picked out some scrolls about coolspren. The few records came in from Azish, and they gave hints about how coolspren come to be. It seemed like they only appear when someone rises up to a dark tinted window, or when the darkly tinted window slides down to them. It was more effective the smaller the window was, and was most effective if it was a pair of spectacles. One rare legend spoke of ten coolspren gathered around a man who had tossed a spectacle in the air, and dropped it into a spot near his eye, and started walking forward with no other reaction. He continued not to make expressions as an explosion appeared behind him, at which point six more coolspren came into existence. This was worth researching.
  7. I will have some more chouta and enter the RP of getting it in about eight to eleven hours. Also, I remembered I told Stink something that I need to do with some stuff, which will happen in this post. But still in the later time. Because I’ve got little battery left, and must recharge my phone and sleep.
  8. I will buy some chouta, and possibly vote on Jondesu. Obviously Jondesu is neutral, and was acting as the town jester. World hopper role, or something like that. Unless he is an elim, and heard of that role from a neutral person—however, that doesn’t make any sense, and even if we thought he was an elim, we’d vote Jondesu, and he’d get the win con fulfilled. So, you got anything to do before getting voted on, I will wait for that.
  9. Okay, so here is what I think happened: We misjudged livinglegend. They weren’t an elim, but the elims were too good at staying hidden to prevent votes. So I’m going to say that either Jondesu is an elim, and got some friends to change their voting on him, or the people didn’t find him suspicious. Also, the Skybreakers wanted to kill all proto-Radiants, so there are no more of those left. All other abilities are non-Radiant.
  10. First Edit: I will explain my vote on Eternum last cycle. One sec Okay, so last cycle I didn’t have many ideas. I had looked through the backlog and didn’t know what to do—I made the bad decision to bring up arguments that had already been refuted. Eternum did nothing else to get accused, so all the same stuff would be said. I apologize, especially since I didn’t remove it during my talk with Steel, being online at the time. Now for an analysis of the writeup.
  11. No, I’m saying it puts you as possible to be villager, rather than neutral. So my reads on you and Jondesu are: Steeldancer is either neutral or villager Jondesu is either neutral or elim And I should really come up with more analysis.
  12. Er, whoops. My bad. I mean Drake. Nalter walked around, trying to figure out why he wasn’t sounding coherent. Was it because he was hungry? Was it because the others had eaten more chouta? He didn’t know. He had tried nearly everything in this city, and none had seemed to form a good memory, especially because he had only one thought on his mind. The murders. They were vivid enough for a memory, but they were unconnected to all information Nalter would ever receive. Taste would not form a connection to the thought of dying in Kharbaranth. Also, tastespren. That was on the mind too.
  13. Well, there is your vote on Drake to consider, @Steeldancer. I am mostly looking for something I can offer commentary on, and that seemed like a good idea. I find your accusations of each other confusing in their ferocity, so I added some accusations of my own as a kind of poke vote. It didn’t include votes because there are two people involved, and in case I didn’t have time to come and post a green word. I will put you as more village, but Jondesu is either neutral or an Escaped Inmate imo.
  14. Seems to me like a banter meant to sound like Steeldancer’s making mistakes, and Jondesu’s calling it elim-y, giving them both village reads. So of course they’re both elims. Or, they’ve got some neutral role for getting votes on each other. I can’t tell which one it is, but I am not going to call them villagers until they die.
  15. Sounds reasonable. Droughtbringer. Eternum for now, because of the voting last cycle that ended up all going green. Of course, that’ll just lead us to the exact same discussion, but it’s worth a shot.
  16. Alright, my plans for being more participatory in this thread are still in force. However, I may end up not doing as much because I'm not good at analysis. So, I will just say that I am lurking a bit, but I don't have any ideas for voting or analysis. If I had to do a single gut read, I'd say Droughtbringer, and for evidence, I'm going to point at the role-claim after Steeldancer. However, it may just be a slip-up, what with forgetting that we all read into these things too much. For instance... I will say that there is indeed a vote manipulation ability, because someone told me that someone else had an ability to negate a vote. This could be useful to the elim team, but not as much as a vote-changer.
  17. I am on mobile, and less available than I thought I would be. So I may try to edit an RP in, but it may not happen.
  18. I’ve got a bunch of words to write, so I will be offline for the rest of the day. And I’m not voting.
  19. I am ready for any death. Except for mine, because that would mean I hadn't the time to write my death scene, if possible. And then Nalter would die as a character, just another one-off Walin character. Of course, he still is a one-off Walin character, but he will have a fitting death scene, one written by his own hand. Because he's literate in Azish.
  20. Nalter walked away from the stand, holding some good looking food. The smell was a little different than anything he’d had in the city, but it did have his favorite foods on it. Gravy, flatbread, and...something. It took him a minute to find something noteworthy to look at when eating. He sat down and watched the biggest boat he had ever seen leave the harbor. It was pretty exciting, though it may have been a bit too obvious a location for him to pick. This wasn’t anything special, just cool, so Nalter had to write the experiment down as one of the unlikely candidates to draw a tastespren. However, the food tasted great. That in itself could create a memory; the mix of gravy, flatbread, and vegetables was as good as tasted in Nalter’s memory. If those were vegetables. Maybe they were a mash of many foods, and the strongest taste was the only one he could notice. Nalter thought back to the street vendor. It seemed that the location was somewhere on the path to the library; however, as Nalter remembered, he...couldn’t remember. That was odd. He also felt woozy, and wondered whether the vendor was in league with the murderer. Then he remembered what he was looking at: a flock of birds. Disgusting creatures. Nalter turned away and felt better, so he decided to head to the library—he had no fear of spoiling the books with food, as he was not feeling sick any longer, and had already eaten.
  21. Nalter had tried a couple of restaurants so far, but none had been particularly memorable. The "specials" were just really good versions of food he had eaten many times before. However, none of the other foods were common enough to attract tastespren. Nalter's hypothesis was that each taste had a connection to tastespren, and if it was more commonly experienced by people, it was more connected to tastespren. If you had a memory associated with a common taste, it would be more likely to attract a tastespren. However, since he had never seen one, Nalter didn't know how accurate this information was. He didn't know how to research this further, however, so he went back to the library. No better way to spend his time, other than wandering the streets looking for death. Stupid murderers ruining a good day's walk, he thought. Well, it's not like I would learn anything about tastespren if I weren't tasting anything, so it's still a better idea to be in the library. He flagged down an ardent and asked what kind of sorting he could do.
  22. Alright, sounds good. If possible, I will try to RP during the wait for more signups. Nalter sat in the streets, trying to remember the last time he had smelt such a smell. It seemed like every day in this city, the smell was different: the combinations of restaurants, paper, breath, sand, and ocean spray always seemed to mix anew. He would have to go inside to a restaurant and ask for their most common meal, one that wasn’t already one he ate on a regular basis. He’d then have it a week later, and see if the memory was strong enough for a tastespren. Of course, with a murderer about, that probably wasn’t the thing he should be studying. Secondly, he had to be at the library soon, so he could help some ardents and get some spheres for books. If only I had more ability to study, I could get this experiment done more effectively, and take less time. Then, Nalter could figure out the next mystery he had on his mind: whether Kharbaranth really did have a set of metal spikes that could charge gems with Stormlight, or even act as fabrials...
  23. What if some of us play as *two* characters, hm? That would bring some more players into the player count, without having to extend signups any longer. We could use some of the anonymous accounts to keep it a secret who has two characters.
  24. First reply! I will be Nalter, brother of Nerkel. Will edit in stuff later but I want to be first. Dang it; ninja’d by MonsterMetroid! EDIT: Nalter is a young scholar. He came to Kharbaranth a month ago, hoping to find evidence of advanced fabrials used for culinary spying. It had happened to his scholar friend’s ardent friend’s merchant friend’s baker friend’s Shardbearer friend’s soldier friend’s linguist friend’s stormwarden friend. He assumed it was used with tastespren, found when scents connect with a memory. The spren were found some places he had never heard of, but Nalter thought it could be captured. He just had to go to all the places here that had memorable culinary artwork. Or he could travel away from Kharbaranth. Culinary spying is when you figure out recipes by picking out the individual scents, but using the tastespren Nalter described, it would probably just strengthen the connection to a memory. So I dunno what he’s doing; he may discover some real, different tastespren that could work for his research.
