Okay that might've been a misunderstanding on my part. I get that especially with the potential educational opportunities it would've provided them but I guess he is stubborn and I see what you meant before.
-
I can kinda get that, I might've gone to far with the comparison, but I do feel it would be wrong for Lirin to leave all those Refugees to suffer without proper care. I guess I just view Lirin's actions through a different lens. I think I might view him through Kaladin's idelistic version of his father than what might actually be happening. I do wonder if there's an emotional attachment to Hearthstone for Lirin or if just doesn't like new places as some reasons he doesn't move. I hope I don't come across as aggressive and if I'm approaching being disrespectful let me know.

I disagree as someone who's grown up in a less than ideal place that causes my whole family besides my dad to be sick on a regular basis because my dad is a physician it makes total sense that Lirin wants to stay in Hearthstone. Physicians build relationships with the community they are serving and Lirin to leave his duty behind and go because of his family is selfish. It's like saying physicians shouldn't help us during the pandemic because they have a family and the consequences of it could harm their family, however if Lirin told his whole family to stay in place and not go unless he's going I could see you're point. It wasn't Lirin's fault that Kaladin stopped being a surgeon it was Kaladin's choice to go be with Tien to protect him. It was also the army's fault that Kaladin wasn't a medic. Also as many people have mentioned most of who Kaladin is is because of values Lirin instilled in him. I agree that Lirin is most defiantly a jerk, is way to stubborn and emotional dumb but I don't think he's the worst or a coward or a inherently selfish man.
-
That's a hot take. I'd prefer Lirin over almost every cosmere dad. Yes he is bad at communication and was unnecessarly hard on Kal but Oh boy you'd take Straff over him? You'd take Dedalin over him? I think the visceral hate is because the things Lirin does poorly is more relatable to most of but he's not the worst dad in the Cosmere.

Moash Appreciation Thread
USS bridge four replied to Toaster Retribution's topic in Stormlight Archive
Vote Moash for Villian of the year. He gets stuff done. You heard that right. That's all I could hear while reading this post. Great post. I still can't believe that the dude from the first book become so Hateable. -
I disagree he is a coward he stays firm in his beliefs and continues to heal people in occupations. He never runs away from his problems. Just because he's not a moral-relativist doesn't mean his point of view is wrong in general. He doesn't care what creed, class, race, or eye color he trys to heal. He's just not that emotionally smart and has trauma too. Yes Lirin could've totally handled his relationship with Kal a whole lot better. Yes he is somewhat of a jerk. Do I like him maybe, maybe not. I think at the very least he is well-written and I can relate to the dynamics between him and Kal. Can any of y'all believe we somehow predicted Lirin to die but not Teft?

I loved Adolin and Shallan hugging and then Pattern hugging them and saying he likes to talk

This reminded me of this worf gifIt basically fits the whole chapter when it comes to Kaladin.
-
Thanks that makes sense and yes I'm kinda excited.

What does Sylpel mean?
-
"I'll protect every Gancho even the fools" I also hope we get it since Lopen basically wished into existence his bond unlike others.
-
I mean there is a Mistborn roleplaying game which is really fun already. Stormlight is an interesting to think about how to adapt of mention this before but using warlock as a base to then build off of with Nahel bonds make sense.

I don’t understand this interpretation well and I’m not the best person with words so hopefully this doesn’t sound like I’m attacking you or people of this interpretation . From my standpoint she made the best she could of a really bad situation her parents are both dead(I dont remember if her moms dead so this might be wrong) and all of a sudden the kids she has grown up with father has just pissed off the new lord who you are living with and who wants you to marry his son and you have little to no agency in this situation. So I don’t blame her for the scene in the kitchen because she had to put up the front to live. I can’t blame someone for protecting their spouse even if that spouse is a little man whose horrible. She also doesn’t seem to interested in advancing her station like that at least. She’s independent and strong willed and now that she has had more agency is able to be more like she was before Roshone arrived to town IMO. Also I always read that she was interested in Kal before Roshone came to town. She made the best of the situation and allowed the town to survive. I believe Kal will have a relationship with her Wether she becomes a romantic interest or just an old friend. Anyways hope this make sense since this sounds like a mess and just some of my thoughts on Laral.

How about unintentional flirting with Laral.

I'm going to point out that the WOB I posted earlier specifically asks if Skar is proto-windrunner not Drehy. I make this distinction since y'all are pointing out that Drehy was the one that said the ideal and not Skar. I hope I don't come off as Combative just wanted to point out.
-
Skar and Drehy have already attracted honorspren. Unless I miss read this WOB Snote Would you be willing to confirm if Skar is a proto-Radiant (on the same level as The Lopen?) It is implied by his statement of "We protect those who cannot protect themselves", which is obviously an affirmation of the oath, if not an outright swearing of it. I could see it being either/or. He's a good man that did what he thought the order, and he himself, wanted or he just became a Radiant on the same level as Kaladin during the Battle of the Tower. Thanks for your time. I understand if you can't/won't answer that at this time. It's simply a curiosity, so I get it if you're a bit too busy to answer. Brandon Sanderson By the end of Book Three, I'd put Skar very close to (though not quite at the level of) Lopen along the way toward full Radiant-hood. General Reddit 2018 (July 16, 2018)

I kinda hope that Gavinor is taken care of by Bridge Four. Now that I think about I kinda just want a Bridge Four sitcom.
-
Yeah and I personally think he'll swear the ideal at the end of part 3.
-
In this analogy would Moash be Horace Grant? Is Rock or Teft Scottie? Anyways this was a really good chapter and its fun reading Syl's perspective and I think this might be one of the first interludes.

Honestly I don't really ship much when it comes to Stormlight Archive. I'd like if Kaladin ends up with someone but I don't care who(except for maybe Shallan). I'm also going to reiterate what I've posted before all I want to see is Kaladin as a a Dad that's it. Wether as a single dad or in a relationship with someone. I also hold little opinions about other characters possible pairings.

[OB] Kaladin and Jasnah as a couple
USS bridge four replied to Thread89's topic in Stormlight Archive
Personally all I want from any ship with Kaladin involved is Kaladin to just became a Father. Just think it would be funny. I'm suspecting we get some of this with Gavinor(did spell that right). I suspect we will see more interaction of Kaladin and Jasnah in the next book because of Gavinor and we will therefore see more of their dynamic and can make better assumptions with whether they fit or even if either would be interested at all. -
Edgedancer and Windrunners as a 2nd. This seems logical enough and I took the quiz twice and it had them as 1 and 2.

How did you figure out about the cosmere
USS bridge four replied to Knight of Iron's topic in Cosmere Discussion
I knew before I had read anything because my brother explained the premise of the cosmere, Hoid, and something to do with Adonalsium to my uncle and I was in the car.
