  1. I don't know if someone mentioned it already but it said somewhere that Dalinar was the first person in hundreds of years to bond the Stormfather. So Galivar couldn't bonded the Stormfather. But other, really interesting theory. Have an upvote.
  2. First time that I can ever post a relevant WoB:
  3. Sorry to be this blunt but this theory has come up 4 different times in the last month and it is starting to annoy me. There are literally 2/3 theories like this on the first page. Before you post you something about a new theory, please go check if it already exists. Edit: I feel like owe an apology. I overstepped my bounds and I am sorry I did.
  4. I am currently re-reading the books but I hadn't noticed that. Thank you for illuminating the darkness of my ignorance.
  5. In terms of abilities and ideals. I've been confused by this because Kaladin and Szeth seem to have similar capabilities (fly, walk on walls, etc.). Where is the difference between those two orders?
  6. Honestly, I think your on to something. It has always bothered me that silver is not an Allomantic metal. Gold, Copper, etc. all other metals are allomantic but not silver? Come on. I think there is a secret silver we still have to uncover.
  7. Hey, before Oathbringer comes out I want to do a re-read of WoK and WoR. Unfortunately, I haven't been active on the Stormlight Theory forum at all so I have missed all the big theories and revelations and RAFOs and the like. Can someone give me a summary of the biggest confirmed theories/revelations/RAFOs that have come out over the last year or so? Then I can look for them while reading the books and enjoying them even more. Maybe it can also be a thread where we all can post the confirmed stuff so we have a place to store it all. The forum has become overwhelmingly confounded.
  8. May I be so bold and do a bit of self-advertisement? I've started another thred about this months ago: Hope you find it useful.
  9. @The One Who Connects Could you please clarify how Stormlight 10 ends? Where did we learn about that? (WoB?) "I assume he is referring to the "we already know how Stormlight ends" bit from Brandon. His logic falters twice however. The first is that we know how Stormlightwill end as in book 10, while he is talking about book 5. (Not too big of a deal, but a contradiction nonetheless)"
  10. Well, that's the speculation. This opens up a new route for speculation. We speculate that the following SA books will take part on Braize. How will they get there? Will Hoid lead them? Will they find a way themselves? I agree with you completely on the part that the Oathpact is was traps him there. Thanks for answering. Have an upvote. Oh, that is interesting. I have never heard that one before. That is in stark contrast with the WOB which says that Braize is like a prison. Why would he be on Braize then and not Ahshyn. I like the web metaphor. Here, have an upvote. @Ari
  11. @Ari Were the Heralds or any other Cognitive Shadows on Braize before Odium arrived?
  12. I figure that this must have happened before Odium was trapped on Braize. It became a prison once Cultivation and Honor trapped Odium there. Which leads to the question: If Odium wasn't there, what on earth was he doing there?
  13. Oh, that is interesting. I have never heard that one before. That is in stark contrast with the WOB which says that Braize is like a prison. Why would he be on Braize then and not Ahshyn. I like the web metaphor. Here, have an upvote.
  14. What I think is interesting to think about is what it would mean for Odium. Hoid could escape. Why couldn't Odium escape? Did Hoid do a special trick? And why did Odium not notice Hoid on Braize? Has Hoid a ability that we don't know about?
  15. What could this element be then? Maybe something which only exists on Braize? Maybe a magical artifact? Maybe something like the black sphere of Galinar?
  16. And who is this certain someone? Taln?
  17. This has been on my mind for a while now. I haven't found any speculation on this. If there is, hopefully this can prove insightful to you as well. This is merely my speculation which isn't based on anything other than a few WoBs and some of my thoughts. This isn't really a theory but more a collection of thoughts, musings if you like. Hopefully, this can spark an insightful discussion. Here we go. The starting point for this is this WOB: This got me thinking a bit. Why was this such a big deal for him? Then I did some research and found this WOB: So Braize is like a prison. That means that you can't get out of it. Let's look at the first question. The question was whether Hoid ever visited the planet Braize. This is a yes-or-no-question. If Brandon had said no this would be pretty understandable from Hoid's perspective. He didn't want to go to Braize because Odium is there who wants to kill him. Also he couldn't escape from Braize once he was there. And Damnation isn't the best vacation spot in the world. So the answer no would be pretty boring. Why would he RAFO that? It makes more sense to me that the answer would have been yes. So if the answer is yes and Hoid is running around in the Cosmere, this becomes interessting. That would mean that Hoid was indeed on Braize and he found a way to escape. This raises a couple of interesting questionss: What did he do on Braize? How did he escape from Braize? When was he on Braize? Did he confront Odium? If he did, why would he, what did they talk about and how did he escape from Odium? A couple of my thoughts on those questions. This also assumes that he has been on Braize while Odium was trapped there. However, it is totally possible that Odium wasn't trapped on Braize when he went there. I've had the most thoughts on this question Argent recently opened a thread about the possible Resurrection of Cognitive Shadows.I've had these thoughts as well. We know that Braize is Damnation and that possibly the Coginitive Shadows go there. So what if he went there to ressurect a Cognitive Shadow. Maybe he lost someone important to him or to his quest. Maybe he wanted to talk to a Herald. Get information from him. Maybe about an Honorblade, maybe about how they escaped from Braize. Somewhere there is a WOB about Braize having a perpendicularity. I couldn't find it, though. So maybe he found a way through the perpendicularity, past Cultivation's and Honor's Investiture which keeps Odium trapped there. Or maybe he went the way the Herald go. This is open to complete speculation. But I reckon that it was either before Odium got trapped there or when he was trapped. Possibly not so long before our main story. That depends on whether Odium was there already. If so, he could have. Maybe he wanted to convince him to go along with his plan. Or maybe he did something else completely. See above. Tell me what you think about it and if there is something that I've missed.
  18. Hello mah fellow Cosmere fans, today is the day I release the second episode of the Cosmere Podcast. I truly hope you find it insightful. It is my way of giving something back to this great community. You can find it here: Please let me know what you think about the episode and if you have some improvement tips. Also if you have any wished topics for future episode, let me know. All the best, Philipp
  19. So here is a theory about Dawnshards: They are spren which were sent to care for humans. If someone or something threatens them they bind with them. So the binded person/thing becomes unable to get access to Investiture or somehow is made unable to do magic. Thus rendering it/the person harmless. Taking the Dawnshard, known to bind any creature voidish or mortal, he crawled up the steps crafted for Heralds, ten strides tall apiece, toward the grand temple above. Now, why whould someone go to the temple of/for the Heralds which such a dangerous thing. Maybe that person thought that the Heralds where a threat to humanity and he wanted to bind them with the Dawnshard. Is there anything that might contradict this theory?
  20. Hey, I haven't found a thread on this topic. If there is one however, please provide a link for me. We know about Dawnshard from a poem of Ista. Taking the Dawnshard, known to bind any creature voidish or mortal, he crawled up the steps crafted for Heralds, ten strides tall apiece, toward the grand temple above. —From the Poem of Ista. I have found no modern explanation of what these "Dawnshards" are. They seem ignored by scholars, though talk of them was obviously prevalent among those recording the early mythologies (from coppermind.net). There was some speculation that Dalinar's sphere was a Dawnshard but Brandon shattered that theory. Do we have any new information about them and what their future relevance might be? Thank you for your answers.
  21. Hey Philipp, great idea with the podcast. That sure was a lot of work. And the idea to give something back to the community is also really nice. There is another podcast coming out that you've mentioned in your introduction. Here is the link to it: I think the idea is a great one. But the question is if we do need two podcasts. On the one side this could lead to a bit of competition and help to make both of the podcast's content better. As far as I understand these guys discuss the most recent releases and theories and you want to focus on the foundationsof the Cosmere and then work yourself up to current discussions. So you don't occupy the same space as they do, which I think is perfect. Now some feedback on the podcast: The episode shows that you've put a lot of thought into your episode. Structure is there and also you researched your topic well, I couldn't catch a specific error. The audio quality is also superb. Do you have a professional microphone lying around at home? So in terms of quality, top. Just listened to the other podcast and I have to say your sound quality is much better. I also like the sound of your voice. In the beginning it was a bit high but then eventually you settled into your natural voice. The intro music was nice and the disclaimer again shows the thought you've put into it. Some tips for improvment: Focus on just 1 topic per episode. The creation myth and the shards where too much. I know, there isn't a lot more to say about the creation myth and the episode would've been like 10 minute, but for a future episode keep that in mind. Also, you use some "and"s and "now"s as filler words. Cut them out. With that said, I am looking forward to the next episode that you will release. Could you make an episode on Investiture and that stuff? I don't know a lot about it.
  22. I didn't know the part with the Rider of the Storm. What is the Rider of the Storm exactly?
  23. Hello mah friends, I have been a long time fan of the Cosmere. For over 5 years I have been reading all of Brandon's books at least twice. What fascinated me about his works is his intricate plotting, his working speed and variety of characters and of course the whole Cosmere as a whole. My favorite book to date is "Words of Radiance" and my favorite characters are Kaladin and Dalinar. I am looking forward to contribute to the community and craft some crafty theories. Cheers blueshard
