  1. How many people think that the champion duel will actually have a definitive winner in book 5? I believe that it will come to a conclusion in which their is a stalemate. Because if one side wins what is the need for another 5 books? As well as if there is a winner that means that there would need to be a time skip of another 1000 years for the current pact to be over to have a ending which would require a new series more or less for books 6-10. Just a thought imo.
  2. I'm interested in how NB will feel after ingesting that amount of Odium and if by tearing a part out of him how that might change Odium. Probably a story for another thread however.
  3. I agree with Adolin being pushed down that path. The drama it would cause would make sense. Because could a parent actually kill their own child? Now there is a work around for that in that honor's champion would be someone else doing the deed, but Dalinar having to pick the end of his own son by picking his opponent would not be a easy task. But also would Shallan want to contend with her husband? Renarion his older brother? Kaladin one of his few friends? From a drama aspect it makes sense. It would truly be a very hard thing to do. I've just finished ROW and personally the impression I get of El just a named fused shows what I get for writing this before finishing the last 20-30 pages lol. I obviously cannot prove this but it is just a feeling I get based on limited sentences at the start of chapters.
  4. Brandon truly amazes me with his dedication to writing. How fast for how much work goes into his projects is such a breath of fresh air in comparison to GRRM. Though bookwise for me at least the next two years look to be great with supposedly both author's releasing main series project's (I have no doubt Brandon will this year, but I hope winds of winter comes out next year as well).
  5. Any conversation that Szeth will/has/had with nightblood. The joyful youth or almost loyal young dog in the personality of Nightblood and the pairing of stoicism and respect of Szeth. Azure meeting Vasher as well to see if they have any history as well in the future sense.
  6. Did Rock ever fly via squire abilities? I just did a reread of the three books over the past week and I don't remember him using stormlight. In comparison to quite a lot of bridge 4. I do understand he drew the shard bow. But in theory given how strong he was (throwing a tree trunk at Kaladin) it wouldn't seem to be strange at least to me.
  7. This might be kinda odd but I will say Rock will be the nightwatcher's (NW shorthand from here forward) bondsmith. Because the NW is from Cultivation, in addition Rock is a cook. So he unites people through food, good times, and stories. This could be abnormal, but it would fit in a sense. I also wouldn't be surprised if the third spren is in the KR city and Navani wakes it up and bonds to it.
  8. I just feel it is a possibility. Odium himself is a very powerful being. And nightblood can destroy all three realms of matter's being. It could easily be done as say a redemption arc of Szeth and it wouldn't take away from the series characters either. However there is potential I feel for Odium to flee the system to continue a Cosmere plotline, if Odium was a bigger focus around the Cosmere as a whole. That way you could have one or multiple people from the storm light series become worldcallers or the planet hopper's I forget the correct terminology.
  9. I personally wonder if nightblood will be the instrument that gets rid of odium for good and then potentially a new fusing of the shards ado whatever occurs after. Though that would be very long term and maybe not even included in the storm light series outside of the odium bit.
  10. He might not want to be king but he is the eldest son. On to your 3rd sentence he has spoken no words.
  11. Your just as welcome to have your thoughts as I am to have mine. I can see Kal + Adolin tension rising in the next book when Dalinar more than likely makes Adolin stand for his actions. Which at the least will more than likely be not allowing him to be king because of his actions. Then there could easily be made some resentment because he isn't a part of the knights radiant "club" per say. Then say during some battle Kal saves Shallan from something and they have a embrace at the end that Adolin catches but doesn't see the whole reasoning behind it and there you go. Adolin then has plenty of reasoning to go down a dark path. Being forsaken by family, love, and friendship in short order would be more than enough to set him away from each of the 3. Also he would be the hardest person for Dalinar to take on given that fathers normally don't like to destroy their own sons.
  12. I feel the love triangle of Adolin, Shallan, and Kal will be somehow what pushes Adolin to that path of Odium's champion.
  13. I could see somehow in the far future Cultivation + Harmony doing something significant to help beat Odium. Mainly because they both are fairly similar in intent to a degree but Cultivation has the experience too teach Harmony about stuff. However ultimately I would not be surprised if Honor gets reformed and deliver's the coupe de gras.
  14. Yeah, i'm just guessing on that one. Because it would be weird. Though I found it interesting how one of the unmade got trapped in the sapphire and one herald died to the dagger with a crystal. But that is another tangent entirely.
  15. Yes but the one in Oathbringer I forget the name of but who was trying to work with the knights radiant potentially. I can't prove it by any means at all but since in the above posts it was referenced as the dustbringer head is "weird" via WOB maybe that one becomes it potentially. Just a shot in the dark though. In referance to Calderis's post.
  16. I wonder if one of the 9 "shadows" bad things could potentially be a dustbringer maybe?
  17. I still think that long term he is who Odium will make as his champion. I also agree with how much pov has been given to him and what I find super glaring is that he hasn't even attracted a spren yet either. It is possible that Moash could be but my bet is on Adolin more so.
  18. I feel this book was a lead in to books 4 and 5. Obviously Odium to some degree has to be introduced, however he is probably a long term character so he was just lightly gone into. I actually liked Shallan's development arc it actually made me appreciate her character. To me Oathbringer was simply put a set up book. Brandon had to delve into arc's that will play more into the future. The only thing I wish there was more of would be Szeth pov's because I find him very interesting and I also find the dual back and forth between him and the sword to be hilarious and also a interesting pairing as well as Jasnah pov's because she is the least explored and there is a lot that intrigues me about her. Also if there was one person who I would like to see less of it would be Lift because until she ages however long the time gap is between book 5 and book 6 I find her just annoying as a child.
  19. The one hope I have with this next book is we get to see quite a few conversations between Szeth and Nightblood. Szeth is very introspective as to what he did and such, coupled with the almost youthful wonder and awe of Nightblood in fulfilling his duty. The dynamic of those two together to me at least is very exciting and something in which I look very much forward to.
  20. I agree with your opinion as well. Not much to support it so far. But I believe like you that he will start to move along towards that end leading into a "shocking reveal" somewhere around the end of book 4 or the start of book 5.
  21. Personal cognitive bias cannot be considered as a contention. I would have better luck banging my head against a supporting beam to a building structure seeking to find inner peace then to change a outlook that internally was formed in another individual. I merely outlined a structured and reasoned application of said scenario happening.
  22. Do you doubt that him killing Sadeas could cause severe changes to his mental outlook from here on going forward? Who is too say? And once again another response based on personal feeling of the character and not that there is potential for a direction like the above mentioned could happen? I never in any sentence in my post with the 2 paragraphs in any way judge adolin's character. I simply outline a train of thought that has potential to lead him down a dark road.
  23. No worries. Hey most speculation and theory at this point is all subjective we are 2 books into a 10 part volume. A # of individuals in the books up to this point can make a claim to that title. There are a multitude of ways Mr. Sanderson can take this.
  24. Oh thats cool Krandacth. My belief isn't a live or die type issue. It's just that from a particular point of view I could see the direction as I described being a scenario or something along the lines of it.
