  1. Could a Kandra form gills or breathe like frogs do? If they can survive underwater could they become something like a jellyfish or octopus and remove the need for bones to create a moving body?
  2. Yeah Rawrbert's idea makes much more sense than mine.
  3. The leading theory on Shardplate is that it is made of "cousin" Spren to the Radiant Spren. This idea has a lot of merit but one thing about it doesn't feel right to me, Shardplate functions as one object. If it were made of many separate Spren then it likely wouldn't be able to be regrown from any little chunk of the Plate. My theory is that Shardplate is the "Spren" of the Nahel bond. I think that when a Radiant reaches their fifth Oath their bond becomes a living entity, the cognitive representation of that bond. Radiants can then pull this Spren into the Physical realm in the form of Shardplate and can function as separate pieces because the Nahel bond has multiple facets to it. I also think that Radiant Plate is powered by the Radiant's innate Investiture and the Investiture of the Radiant Spren. So current Plate needs to be powered by Stormlight infused gems because it is the Spren of a broken bond. My evidence for this is that Plate grants physical abilities similar to breathing in Stormlight, its ability to be regrown from any piece and the linking with its owner that allows one to mentally command it to fall off.
  4. It could be a reference to that time in the chasm when Syl took on the appearance of another woman.
  5. @Yata Thank you for the quote from Pattern, I completely forgot about that. The wording does seem slightly ambiguous though. It could mean that the Stormfather suffered through the Oathbreaking but didn't experience it himself. I also didn't think about how the Bondsmiths would be under more scrutiny since there are so few of them making it harder to hide the fact that they kept their Oaths.
  6. I had never even considered this before. While I'm not sure that Szeth's Oathstone is a Dawnshard I could definitely see Gavilar's sphere being one.
  7. What if the Bondsmiths are the Oder that didn't betray their Oaths? Presumably the Stormfather has been bonded before but he appears to be fine meaning his former Radiant did not break their Oaths. It would also be much easier to hide the fact that three Knights kept their Oaths as opposed to hundreds or thousands.
  8. They might naturally escape at some point, we'll have to wait and see what we learn about this from fabrials in future books.
  9. Well we know that spren can be captured in gems and there are some theories that the Unmade are spren. So maybe the sphere holds one of the Unmade and that's why it hasn't gone dun.
  10. We know that healing with Stormlight is based on how one views themselves, but how does this apply to the use of the Progression Surge? When Lift heals Gawx does she heal him according to how she views him or does she merely give him the capacity to heal himself? Could Lift heal Kaladin's scars?
  11. By now most if not all of us know that Vasher is on Roshar. Presumably he is there because Stormlight can fuel his Returned body, but he probably can't Awaken with it. I have an idea as to how he could hack Stormlight and use it to Awaken. I think that if he had a Soulcaster instead of convincing an object to change its composition that he could convince it to become animated. I believe this would only work for Vasher as he is very knowledgeable about Investiture and Awakening.
  12. What if Shardplate is the "spren" of the Nahel Bond and upon speaking the final Oath a Radiant can pull it into the Physical Realm?
  13. I like this. It definitely sounds possible.
  14. @The One Who ConnectsThe pouch is on the Radiant in his vision in the Purelake. It doesn't seem all that important but Brandon RAFO'd it when someone asked what was inside it.
  15. I think fabrials are one of the coolest parts of the Stormlight Archive so I decided to make a post to see what everyone thinks is possible with fabrials. Some of my own ideas include: A fabrial railgun that would function in a reverse manner to the attraction fabrials we have seen. A shield that can repel projectiles. A spaceship that uses the Gravitation Surge. Videochatting with an Illumination fabrial A train that uses repelling and Abrasion fabrials I also think that the pouch Dalinar sees on the Radiant in his vision holds a fabrial that attracts Stormlight so they can recycle what they use in their lashings.
  16. Wow this has spawned way more discussion that I thought it would. Definitely a lot of stuff to consider. I really like the idea of being able to turn a seon into a shardblade as I've always thought spren and seons to be the same thing on different worlds. And I really like the idea of a sentient metalmind!
  17. Hi all, this is my first post here so I apologize in advance for not knowing how to post WoBs and any other mistakes I make in the post. Today I was thinking if it would be possible to make Shardblades on the various worlds of the Cosmere with each worlds form of Investiture. We know from a WoB that Rosharan shardblades are made of the body of a god and that enough Breath can be used to make a shardblade. This made me wonder what would happen if someone made an Atium sword and filled it with massive amount of youth. I think it would begin to function like a shardblade. I haven't thought of any ways to make a shardblade on Sel or Taldain though. What are everyone's thoughts on this?
