Long Game 30: Journey Before Destination
Ecthelion III replied to Amanuensis's topic in Sanderson Elimination
WALL POST! - Creating this Connection requires a focus. The type of focus required depends on whether the used power is Physical, Mental, Temporal, or Enhancement. Fifth was one of the last Initiates remaining on top of the cliff. It was a good strategy, as it let the others do half the work for him. PRIME would be proud. The shouts of battle, the sounds of swords clashing with carapace, filled Fifth's ears, and he sunk into a sort of trance. This was the sort of thing he was made for. Not the quiet intrigues and reconnaissance of the past, but fighting. He was a hunter, after all. His master had trained him well. He didn't notice Captain Kaladin getting to Fifth's place in the line until he spoke: "I would have thought a man as trained as you would be one of the first to join the battle. Yet here you are, just waiting to be ordered around. A real Radiant shows initiative." Fifth smiled a warm half-smile under his hooded cloak. "I was just waiting to show for you personally. Sir," he added. He tossed a large silver coin from his sleeve into the air. Kaladin and the remaining Initiates watched as he shouted an incantation and, in a flash of light, the coin expanded into a gleaming silver quarterstaff, which dropped into his outstretched hands. He twirled it around in a dozen different directions within a matter of seconds, flashing Kaladin a wink. The man's hard expression did not change. Fifth took a few steps back and then ran toward the cliff, launching himself off the edge. He wished he could have said he hit the ground gracefully. - The chasmfiend, perhaps starting to be confused by the poison, was flailing more wildly then ever. As he was running away, Uther heard a deafening crash, and saw over his shoulder that the creature had rammed its head into the chasm wall. The chull-sized boulder/outcropping started to shake and crumble. The chasmfiend turned its head up to the sky and screeched as pounds of rock came tumbling down on top of it. With its legs already weakened by Arionium, it buckled, no longer able to-- Wait.. Arionium. He's still under the beast. Storm it, we are NOT having another casualty in the same day! Shining staff held aloft, Fifth charged as fast as he could at the bleeding creature. He used its energy reserves to move at near superhuman speed. Reaching into his belt pouch, he threw a pile of Stormlight-infused spheres at Arionium. Then he grabbed his staff with both hands and slammed it down in front of him, vaulting into the air above the chasmfiend with a double flip. This was what it felt like to be alive. - Man, I'm getting way too distracted by the RP of this game to put much in the way of analysis. While y'all are using your deductive reasoning, I'm looking at it from a different angle with inductive reasoning. What attributes are the eliminators likely to have? Wanting to waste the interrogation on the people who dropped out - because seriously, HOW does that help us IN ANY WAY? (Especially because the original Unjust win condition was for them to outnumber the free Honorable.) At least one or two of them getting the maximum number of Honor each cycle. Wanting to interrogate a) the more active players, b( the players with the most honor, or c) the players who have already accrued some suspicion. Statistically the third vote on a villager is most likely to be an eliminator (thank you internet!) and I've definitely seen that trend in past games. I still need to go look for people who fulfill the critera though. -

Epigraph to come because I'm not on the computer with them on it. Fifth strolled down the hallway, humming to himself. It was the point in the plan when he needed to build Connections to the others--he wasn't going to get anywhere without knowing who his target was. That was what bugged him about his whole mission. PRIME knew who the target was. So why didn't he tell him? Regardless of what was going on behind the scenes, the Connections needed to be done. Fifth was proud of the method he had concocted. Granted, it did look somewhat peculiar that he was carrying a bundle of flowers around the halls of Urithiru, but nobody asked any questions. He was so focused on his task that he walked right into the Lady Tintalle. @Elbereth - @Arraenae I didn't say that I don't enjoy the major role-playing aspect of the game--I love it! and I think more games should be like it. All I was saying was that I wasn't suspicious of anyone and I didn't have any analysis because of the relatively little gameplay talk up to that point. No "whining about RP". Unless I'm missing something, I don't see a point in wasting the interrogation on Sheep or Quiver since they're just going to leave anyway. This makes me somewhat suspicious of Magestar. The other thing is that the eliminators want to lynch and kill the most active villagers, and seeing as Jondesu has been trying to promote game discussion from the very beginning, I can't trust Lopen or Drake. -

As awesome as all this RP is, it's making it hard to get a read on anyone. The main question at this point should probably be "Do the eliminators want to promote game discussion or avoid it?" I could see both. -

Long Game 30: Journey Before Destination
Ecthelion III replied to Amanuensis's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Now we return to the subject at hand. Soulbinding itself is a highly intricate art. There are eight Internal or Light powers, and eight corresponding External or Dark powers. The powers are also divided up into four main groups: Physical, Mental, Temporal, and Enhancement. Each of these groups contains two Light powers and their two corresponding Dark powers. The Fifth Nameless stood and faced the stormwall. He surveyed the faces of the other Initiates. Though a couple stood like pillars of stone, most shifted nervously, and that was being generous. Others were outright panicking. But not Fifth; at least, provided his link didn't die. Then he'd be in trouble. But as the storm approached, thoughts of panic and death fled his mind altogether. Here he was, about to face the most frightening phenomenon in all of Roshar. Head on. And by the Heralds, he was going to have fun doing it. - When Stormblessed, as they called him, returned, Fifth was standing straight. His uniform was in tatters, and he was battered. It was a good thing he had left his hooded cloak in his room. As he removed the rope which he was somehow still attached to, he looked around at the others. Apart from himself, he only counted twenty. Where was the last...? Ah. There. He spotted the Lady Tintallë lying down some distance away from the others. She looked pale, and not just because of the ordeal with the storm. Despite this, her natural beauty was undeniable. No. You can't afford to get attached to anyone. It will only cause you problems in fulfilling your duty. Still, Fifth hoped he could catch her in a hallway sometime. It would be nice to have some conversation with someone apart from the other half of himself. Especially a beautiful lady. -

Long Game 30: Journey Before Destination
Ecthelion III replied to Amanuensis's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Fifth sat in the garden once again, contemplating his purpose in life. For some people, this was an easy matter--or at least, relatively easy. Most were here simply to go through life, making what they wanted out of themselves. Not Fifth. He was created for a specific purpose, to serve a function for PRIME. But what if he chose not to follow that purpose? -

Long Game 30: Journey Before Destination
Ecthelion III replied to Amanuensis's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Since that cataclysmic event, I have attempted to hunt down any remaining individuals who possess powers like Soulbinding, possibly even survivors of that dark upheaval, but to no avail. So I did the only remaining thing in my power to preserve Soulbinding throughout the ages: I created the five of you. Fifth frowned. Everyone in the room seemed to be having fun. Some were gathered in a circle learning about science and fabrials. How interesting... Others were engaged in games of skill or chance. Could he join...? He even saw a pair flirting, getting drinks. Wouldn't it be great to NO. Focus, Fifth. You have a job to do. He noticed the Shin man leaning up against the wall after a brief conversation with the mercenary at the table. Like Fifth, the Shin man just stood, observing, alone. Fifth sighed. You know, sometimes I get the impression that the dark hooded cloak doesn't win me any points in the sociability department. Why can't I have just been born like one of them. Free, open, with possibilities. Like Ranatar, the Scientist. Shinon, the Lively. Naihar, the Cunning. Arionium, the Raven. Who am I? And the part of himself Fifth most wanted to ignore spoke up. You are the Fifth Nameless. The Fifth of PRIME. The Hunter. -

Long Game 30: Journey Before Destination
Ecthelion III replied to Amanuensis's topic in Sanderson Elimination
First, I suppose a small history lesson is in order. Somewhere in the Cosmere, there was a planet—the name is not relevant—where Soulbinding was widely used by many of the inhabitants, similar to how Allomancy is widely used by Scadrians. That was before this planet was consumed by the darkness. - Fifth was jolted from his peaceful meditation in the center of the garden by an audible crack--well, audible to him, at least. It was a sign he often received, that of energy. He calmly stood up from his relaxed posture, though worry reached deeply into the cracks of his mind. Something powerful had entered Urithiru. No, his target had entered Urithiru. Arriving in his private chamber, Fifth opened his case and dug through it until he found what he was looking for: a pen (didn't see many men around here using one of those), a thin sheet of slate, and an oddly heavy envelope. The first thing he dropped into the envelope was his brother's ring, all the way from Tyrian Falls. He then began to inscribe the accompanying letter. The words were simple, almost poetic in his tongue: I have seen it I have felt it The prophecy It calls It speaks It kills -

(I will be including an epigraph over each post, most likely. @Amanuensis, does the epigraph count toward the 100 words?) Soulbinding. One of the lost forms of Investiture. As a Soullinked piece of me, bound to me by the ring you possess, I feel it is prudent to instruct you in this ancient art, in hopes that it may help you while in my service. - The Fifth Nameless strolled down the wide steps. There's the first big hurdle accomplished. Now I can get down to business. First things first, though. With an overly formal air, he asked the nearest guard where he could find a garden. Fifth's power was always the strongest when he was near plants and other living things, and in this city, a garden would be the closest he'd get. On his way down the corridor, he passed the man who called himself Araon. Well, I'd better get my web of connections up sooner or later. There's work to be done for PRIME. "Hello, sir," he greeted, again with that tone of false formality. "How do you find life here to be?" -

Quick Fix Game 21: The Name's Smith, John Smith
Ecthelion III replied to AliasSheep's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Okay, the RP is coming anyway. - Tyrian Falls. The hooded figure had finally reached his destination. He (or she; it was impossible to tell) walked slowly but deliberately past the houses and milling people. There was chaos, all right; news of Ruin and the Spiked had finally reached their ears. But that was not why he was here. He surveyed the scene as he walked, and finally he came to his destination: an innocuous-looking tree. It was impossible to tell anything different about that tree from the others, save for two details. First, one of the branches was bent slightly down, as if pulled down by a heavy weight. And second, there was a pattern on the grass under the tree. Though faint, some of the blades of grass were slightly greener than others, as if they had been more watered, making a sort of symbol on the ground: It's strange, the hooded figure thought, what happens when one of us falls.... But this is no time for idle philosophy. Where is your Link, Third? He stooped down and felt around on the grass. After a few moments, he found something in the center of the symbol: a small ring. Though metal, it was incredibly lightweight, and surprisingly immune to Allomancy and other forms of magic. At the center was a shining blue waterstone, the heart of Third's former Identity. The hooded figure stood up, pocketing the waterstone ring, and sidled away. He never visited that site of his brother's death again. -

Signing up as the Fifth Nameless (see AG3 D2 writeup for the significance of this). Introductory RP to come, but I might save it for C2 in case I die C1. -
Wilson, can I rename you to The Data Overlord? Way to be optimistic. The real thing I'm bummed about is how all of these have happened in the last 6 months, so hopefully the pattern doesn't continue. Just a note, though, at 58.33%, I have the highest lynch percentage of everyone who plays the game right now. I don't care if I die overall, I know it happens and a C4-7 death doesn't really bug me, but the day one lynches and kills are literally the worst.
