  1. So something I never noticed until seeing them all laid out like this: Each surge seems to have one of the divine attributes tied to it. Is it possible that the Order who has the surge's Divine Attribute as their primary gets greater access to that surge? For example Windrunners and Skybreakers both have Gravity as one of their surges. Windrunners have Just/Confident as a minor divine attribute, while Skybreakers have it as the greater. Gravity seems to be tied to that attribute. So would Skybreakers end up with greater access to Gravity?
  2. Renarin is confirmed as 1 of the 10 books. I'd guess he's in this quintet rather than the next, so I'm going to assume Renarin = book 5 unless someone has something definite otherwise.
  3. I'd call them "The Invested" as a group, but an individual being an Invester/Investor doesn't sound right.
  4. No kidding.
  5. I agree with this. It's the biggest hangup Kaladin has left, and I am sure that one of the last two oaths will force him to come to terms with it.
  6. The vast majority of it is not in the books. There's hints and tidbits in the books, but the majority of things come from interviews/signing Q&As, which makes it really frustrating to get into for anyone who hasn't been keeping up with it from the start. On the bright side, those little tidbits aren't needed for enjoying the books, so it doesn't matter too much. On the down side, people on this forum and others include those who have been keeping up with everything Brandon has ever said, and base all of their conversations on that information, making it nearly incomprehensible for people who have not (Barring good people like Kurkistan providing links for everything, but even then you have no way of knowing until someone else does link it).
  7. Just going to chime in to say that combining two shared powers to get one unique power is a VERY Brandon thing to do. If it turns out to not be the case I'll be shocked.
  8. A theory someone brought up on another forum is that the Compassion was his boon, while the fluctuating intelligence is his curse. He's misinterpreting it as the reverse, and leading the world down a very bad road as a result.
  9. Probably more closely related to their ability to see spren who don't want to be seen than their ability to eat shells.
  10. I'd like him to be an Elsecaller or Willshaper, for access to the Transportation Surge. Then he gets Kaladin's Honorblade, and we have our new favorite Two Armed One Armed Flying Teleporting Glowing Herdazian.
  11. I don't know about pissed, but he obviously knew about it (and/or whatever else Amaram has done and covered up), and was obliquely referencing it.
  12. It's going to take more than a little bit of recalculation after the vector Shallan's arc took in Words of Radiance. For example the whole thing with them teaching each other at night in secret I honestly can't see happening at all at this point with her out as a Radiant. Honestly I figured Renarin was more the type to be into that. You know, with him being so happy to oblige when others tell him what to do....
  13. Could the Stone Shamans have put a gem in Szeth's Honorblade to make it bond the same way the Shardblades do?
  14. I'm pretty sure that Highspren is actually the name of the spren that Skybreakers bond, not the name of the really big powerful spren in the world.
  15. They are citizens of the second nahn with the right of travel. I don't think Roshone has the power to stop them if they wanted to leave. Also getting both of their children drafted into the army already was breaking them.
  16. The prohibition against seeing the future is a result of the fallout from the Heirocracy. In WoK we're told that the Heirocracy cloaked themselves in mysticism, and controlled the people through "Visions" of the future. After the Heirocracy fell, examining their internal communications proved that there were no real visions, it was all a farce. From there, it seems that it was decided all visions ever would be fake.Things just got perverted over the course of centuries to make the source of all fake visions being the Voidbringers trying to corrupt and destroy humanity.
  17. Still a better love story than Twilight.
  18. Running theory at the moment is that Lopen and the others who were glowing in Bridge 4 are the Radiant Squires mentioned in the epigraphs. They aren't a part of any Order, and have no spren, but can utilize stormlight for the increased speed/strength/healing.
  19. Getting a little ahead of ourselves aren't we? We don't even have a quantified way to measure Stormlight yet, think we need that before we can start getting a Cosmere standard.
  20. Good question. I figured that stormlight wouldn't heal old damage that was already pretty much healed, but Lopen shot that idea dead. Now my guess is something more psychological.
  21. With such a short gap though, would we have a reason for a completely new set of heroes to take center stage? I mean, short of all the characters we love dying horribly at the end of book 5... and while Brandon may not be as against killing main characters as Robert Jordan, that sort of thing is something even GRRM hasn't done.
  22. You mean Axies Stormblessed, no "the".
  23. I think a lot of people are voting Adolin simply because "I hate love triangles". I'm starting to wonder if people realize it's possible to have more than one romantic partner in a lifetime without living in a soap opera.
