  1. A couple of alternatives:

A is for Adolin (if you want a hero over a villain)

F is for Fabrial or Fused

H is for Highstorm or Honor

X - There is literally nothing that begins with x.  Coppermind has 4 entries, all for offworld things.  In this case you should do like a treasure map, such as: 'x marks the spot for Honor's perpendicularity'

  2.

Shallan:  Probably only Jasnah would have suspicions of her at this point.  Given her history with Jasnah, trust may be tough to repair.  Only way is to start being open.

Wit:  I'm not sure why Wit is even listed; I wasn't aware he was a part of the coalition.  He has given some advice, but I didn't know he petitioned to be included.  He has proven to be somewhat honest though by providing Jasnah with drawings of the Heralds which she verified.

Szeth:  I think by being a teacher and following his oaths he will gain trust.  Also learning his history.  People may not like what he did, but they have to understand the world has changed and they'll need every asset they can get.

Renarin:  Shallan here is the one that won't trust Renarin due to her relationship with Wit.  Wit told Shallan to not trust anybody who can see the future.  The rest of the coalition may not take this as seriously as Shallan because they like Renarin and he has never caused trouble.  This will be a thorn in the Shadolin marriage.

Rock goes back to peaks? With his shards?

I am not convinced Rock feels he has a need to return with shards, especially with his religion and being a squire would enlighten him to the disrespectfulness of wielding the corpse of a dead spren.

i like to think Rock will bond with the honor spren ‘Queen’. I forget what her name was, but she accepted Rock’s offering of stormlight.  I think it’d be cool (given how there seems to be something special about him) that he bonds with another spren too, maybe a willshaper.  I know there is a theory he may be a bondsmith candidate as well, this is just an alternative I just came up with.

My theory is that this is where around five of the shards were splintered. We know of ten shards, and we know of another one in hiding (Wisdom, perhaps). That leaves 5 shards unaccounted for. So what are they doing? I can't imagine so many would remain without action while Odium is close to breaking free of his prison. Also, if they are around, why haven't we seen any stories in their planets? I think that either Odium, in the past, splintered them, or that they had a big war, which left them all splintered. This explains the red stars, because if they were splintered, there would be corrupted investiture around. Another example that supports the red star=splintered shard theory is that Threnody's star is red. You might then wonder, why is Sel's sun not red? It's not red because most of their investiture is in the cognitive realm. This is why there are less noticeable effects in the physical.

In conclusion, my proposed theory explains what happened to the remaining shards, as well as gives reason for a detail that is being repeated throughout the books.

I have a hard time buying that just because the author hasn't gotten around to writing about 5 shards is a good reason to assume they are splintered.  There are some other very good reasons why they aren't mentioned yet; i.e. he hasn't had time to write stories about all the planets yet, they just haven't come up yet in the story he is trying to tell, etc.  Jumping to the conclusion that they are splintered because we haven't heard about them yet seems too far a leap.

In Hoid's letters, he only mentions that Skai and Aona were killed by Odium.  If Odium had killed 5 more vessels, Hoid would've mentioned their names too.  If the shards had warred among each other and splintered each other, they would've gone against their isolationist policy which one of the shards (Endowment I think?) mentioned the trouble that Skai and Aona got themselves into by going to the same planet.  These 5 shards were not mentioned as being in violation.

  5. I think it would be fun if Baxil was included in future books.  I agree that the main points of the interlude were to introduce Shalash and some lore about the Nightwatcher, but Baxil could still pop up in the future if but for only a minor roll.

I've started a reread of Oathbringer, and the other day I read the part where Adolin is talking with Gallant and he mentions Bashin's hounds being couped up.  I was like, who is this Bashin?  It seems like we were introduced to him the way he was so casually mentioned.  So I Coppermined the fool, and was pleasantly surprised to find he has a pretty good size page.  He was the hunt master and a scout as they marched towards Narak.  He's also brought up more in Dalinar's interlude chapters which I hadn't got to yet but I remember his character if not his name.

Point is, I think Brando can definitely find ways to bring him up again.  He may not be some major character, but maybe somebody else who was touched by Cultivation (is courage nebulous enough for NW? maybe?).  No way to know, but if he is, it will just increase my love for the books with the way Brandon can foreshadow and add detail with even minor characters like that.

  6. I like this poll.  It's a shame I can't pick more than one though, as I find myself wanting to do many of these things.  I picked like Kelsier, because I find myself thinking of ways that I can go outside or go play basketball and not get in trouble.

I am fortunate to be able to work from home, but I find myself reading a lot (guess that hasn't changed), eating a lot (guess that hasn't changed either), and storing up feruchemical abilities.  So yeah, now that I am told to stay inside, the only thing that's changed is me not wanting to be inside all the time.  The Feruchemy is a plus too.

EDIT:  Actually, not that I think about it, I did do a nice scam the other day.  I drove up to see my brother under the pretense of doing something else, but my real goal was to get my copy of Oathbringer back.  So many birds killed with one stone.

EDIT2:  Gotta get watch shows/movies in the poll, like Renarin.  Because Renarin sees...

The Heralds came from Ashyn so they know. Nale just didn't have his oaths before now so that's what changed.

If this is the case, then wouldn't Nale have been trying to help the Parshendi bring back their gods instead of actively trying to prevent a new desolation?  That doesn't add up to me.  Seems to me he'd want the original owners of  the land to rule as that would be just.

  8. 15 minutes ago, Gilphon said:

Surely Nale's third Oath is to obey the law of land. Like that's why he switched sides, because if the land changes owners, then the laws he's sworn to follow also change.

This brings up a question I had the other day.  I'm not sure we know the answer.  I was always under the assumption that the Heralds were super old and predated the desolations.  This must be incorrect though, because if the Heralds were around since before the 1st desolation, they would've known that humans were not the original owners of the land.  Right?  So did the Heralds come after the first or a couple of desolations had passed?

  9. I'm having an issue in the Shardcast section of this site going to prior pages.  Whenever I click the 'Next' button, or any other page number, it just scrolls me back to the top of page 1.  I've tried on laptop and phone, with two different browsers.  Am I the only cursed Lost Radiant?

This thread contains Oathbringer info.  If you haven't read it yet, careful...

Shallan?  Not my favorite character to read.  Like you mentioned, I found her annoying when she 'won' scenes with Kaladin in them.  However, I do think her storylines are interesting even though she makes bad decisions.

This would be possible because divine breaths seem to heal across all three realms, as seen with Susebron; when Lightsong healed Susebron he didn't just grow back a physical tongue, but was able to speak intuitively, as if he had never been without one. If a normal person gained a tongue after living without one since birth they would need extensive speech therapy to be able to speak, and even then they may never get to baseline.

Is this due to the healing of the divine breath, or the fact that he had thousands of breath himself and the heightening (2nd heightening; approximately 200 breaths) that included perfect pitch?

Still, this is an interesting theory and it is intriguing.  A thought that I wondered as I was reading; can Vasher just recall his breath from Nightblood and the sword return to an inanimate object?  I don't know why not (maybe because Nightblood is too invested), but I'd think if this was possible Vasher would've already tried it.

The only reason this might work is because Ruin is one of the shards in both of your examples, implying that Sazed no longer holds both Ruin and Preservation. Without another vessel holding multiple shards (that we know of yet), either of those shard combinations could probably do the job.

Yup, which is why I suggested Ruin enhanced with either odium or ambition.  The thread isn't asking how plausible or easy it would be.  Nothing would be easy when creating a doomsday scenario.

  13. I still kind of like the suspended cage thing.  Usually when somebody is in jail you post guards, so if a radiant happens to get out of the aluminum cage, a guard could activate a fail safe that drops the radiant.  I am of the opinion a fall from several hundred feet would kill somebody in shardplate (that doesn't have stormlight).  We have Eshonai (in stormform) as an example (actually, am I wrong now that I think about it?  Did Eshonai actually drown to death?)

Do we know if shardplate loses its power when used against aluminum?  If a blade can't cut through it like it does other non sentient objects, would shardplate act just as normal armor?  If this is the case, I would propose putting a radiant in a steel room with a sheet of aluminum on the inside of that.  The aluminum would negate the magical properties of the blade and plate, and the steel behind would be the reinforced strength to prevent them from just bashing their way out.

Each of these scenarios you keep stormlight away from the radiant by taking their gems and using candles in hallways for light.  Even if a highstorm comes, the radiant won't have gems to hold the stormlight.

I say, the best candidate for being king (leader) is the man who is capable of the role, but has not actively sought it out.

    That means... Rock!

Ah yes, a cousin I can get behind.  Rock is kind, strong, and good cook.

  15. ...murmuring from a segment of voters.... But how can we trust Jasnah if we don't know her?  Is she in league with the spren?  Maybe she conspired with the spren rulers whilst she was there for them to take over and rule over us in the physical realm!  What can she tell us of her voyages to Shadesmar?!

Feeling annoyed at all the current party candidates? If so then I've got a man for you. Kaladin Stormblessed is a man of the people. He's committed to ensuring a better, happier state for all of us humans. A successful leader Mr. Stormblessed has served as a highprinces honor guard, leader of the Order of Windrunners, and second-in-command in Kohlinar mission. Notable accomplishments include bonding a spren, keeping a slave group alive day after day as they charged arrows for a living, and moving on from a troubled love triangle. Truly a man of our times.  Mr. Stormlblessed is going to stop slavery by casting down the corrupt highprinces and turning the dahn system into a climbable ladder instead of greased slide downward. For anyone interested in supporting Kaladin please vote at your local Alethkar elections. Definitely, don't vote Moash in. He's a real screw up

Can Mr. Stormblessed please explain to us some past allegations, including almost killing his spren and secretly meeting with assassins plotting against the king?  How does he excuse this?

I'd also like to hear platforms on tax reform, healthcare, and what to do with all the refugees.  Thank you.

I am a Jasnah supporter.  While some might be turned off by her privileged background neither her commitment nor her accomplishments are questionable.

Would Ms. Kholin please give us more details on her childhood?  It seems murky and voters would like to be enlightened on any traumatic experiences she has been through.  Also, we gather that Ms. Kholin has also been in league with assassins.  Will she send an assassin after me?
