  1. I'll have to suggest that you read other chapters. What is really interesting is not about the main characters, but those details hidden in WoR. There's a lot to research and think. That's how SA is different from other novels:))
  2. (The following are based on the possibility if Intents were not blank at first when Shattering. Here we go) In the Second Letter, we can see It could be interpreted as that Rayse "purified" the initial Intent of his Shard, and somehow distort it into merely hatred, thus become Odium. Most would agree that Vessels' mind would be affected by the Intent. What if, vice versa, the Vessels can change Intents to some extent? And I believe there are some friends had the same following question: Why Honor and Ruin, and such, are parts of the Force of Creation? If the Vessels are truly able to change the Intents, then the problem could be easily solved. In one WoB we know that Ruin actually means "pursuing the entropy maximum in the universe". Entropy is related to a progression that energy or information goes from regular to irregular and chaos, and finally the balance of energy. It's an inevitable process of the nature. And most importantly, it's neutral. Maybe Ruin is just kinda easy interpretation. The original Intent is Entropy. Same, So "Honor" might be an added context Tanavast gave, the original Intent was Bond. Dominion could originally mean Occupancy, and so on. Conclusion: if the Intents were designed when Shattering happened, then the original Intents might be neutral. Does that make sense? Surely there might get some flaws or my ignorance. Show me some new perspectives, thx:)
  3. I don't really think the third species on Yolen is Aimian, I suggest that they are worldhopping ethnics to Roshar, but might not come from Yolen. The settings on Yolen might be pretty "stereotypical" as other high fantasies like TLoR. The third race would probably be the creatures that anyone on street could name, like Elf or Orcs.
  4. Pretty interesting, my group pals have discussed this before, like SA should be filmed into movies, series, animation movies(like Dreakworks), or animes. Besides, SA quite fits the concept of fantasy series like Game of Thrones(of course entirely different routes); as for the Interludes, they could be made into short films on YouTube, just the same as The Walking Dead has done. Umm, undoubtedly any kind of adaptation of Stormlight Archive would be a huge project.
  5. I pretty agree the upfloor's suggestion Vorin mythology seems to have some truth, while they have some fictional tales, too. For instance, they consider Stormfather Jezerezeh'Elin, which is a mislead. Tranquelline Hall's Battle might indicate that something doesn't work well on the passage to Beyond, but I don't really think TH is Yolen. I had the same thought before but abandoned it soon. It just feels... incorrect. Just my thoughts. Deductions are reasonable, tho:)
  6. Nahel sounds pretty male... so maybe it's related to Cultivation yeah. When do we have a confirmation that Surgebinding is of both H&C? Well @CaptainRyan the special terms would usually be capitalized, so seldom would be mistaken:)
  7. Cool @AnanasSpren could you give us the original text? @Erklitt it could also mean that Hoid used Lerasium to gain Allomancy, but somehow took it to develop other usages as well. It doesN'T mean Allomancy is NOT from the Lerasium. Yeah we're sure about not much, but the bead was used for Allomancy is, actually, pretty believable (And the Nahel question was ignored. Why the bond is named by the name? Expecting for creative ideas
  8. I pretty believe that "I protect it like my own skin" means he consumed Lerasium. How could this happen that Hoid achieved Allomancy without the bead? @Erklitt @Argel I need your explanations
  9. There was a scene popped into my mind: Hoid might touched the Lerasium and occasionally made it attached to something's surface, and Sigzil absorb it into the body. For short, Hoid wasn't meant to do that. If Sigzil were Cosmere-awared, he would show more signs of these knowledges before. Yes he's not a worldhopper, yet. But it wouldn't matter if his Allomancy was gained accidentally. Hence, of course, Hoid wouldn't have written it in the Letter, not to mention teaching him Allomancy. While it might be just Sigzil's personal qualities; it is 50% possible as well. I don't really think my discovery is quite convincing, I don't even consider it a "theory" XD. Just wanna see other's opinions OuO.
  10. I suspect that Sigzil might be a Allomancer. In WoR ch.71, Teft along with Sigzil was doing nightwatch and waiting for Kaladin to make a comeback from chasms. And Teft kept talking about Envisagers and his past. But it's... kinda strange. Quote two paragraphs here: Sigzil seems to let Teft tell a lot unknowingly... is it just my overthinking, or he's actually burning Brass to let Teft speak? He was asking Teft something in the beginning of the chapter, so he does have a motivation---but that's not the topic here. We all know his mentor was Hoid. What if Hoid, accidentally or deliberately, made him become a Allomancer? Extra: We also recognized Nahel Bond. But have anyone thought about Who the hell Nahel is? What do you think?
  11. Though the first theory: the knife was obtained by Nazh in Scadrial, is the most convincing, but the last one: Ruin had some connections with Threnody, is more likely to be what Brandon wanna imply. In my view, the words are a little deliberate to be I remember there was a Interview Question asking about The Evil and Ruin... could anyone provide it?
  12. Just wanna spark the dead ashes; I know there have been discussions about the name. Wondering anyone has any new idea? For those who don't know: Senna is a name Leras mentioned in Secret History. He merely awed/sighed "Oh, Senna..." Some speculated she is an important one of Leras, or another Vessel. What if it's Cultivation's Vessel?
  13. Koloss. Would you rather change into fire or stay being a Stick?
  14. Well, it is possible, but not fully confirmed:
  15. @Argel The quote is from here: http://www.theoryland.com/intvmain.php?i=1091#3 Idaho Falls Signing Report, Nov. 29th 2014. At that point we've known Bavadin but haven't known Autonomy. So that's pretty awkward whether he could be counted as "one Shard we knew". But I think the other killed one was in the very Seven left. Tho I might be wrong.
  16. Just a theory, hope that it would make sense: Some has theorized that Bondsmiths bonded with "godspren", the spren of the cognitive projections of religions. There are not so many religions on Roshar, far more less than Scadrial --- Because the whole Roshar continent shared the same history, thus, similar mythology about Heralds & KR And so, there might not be too many different religions on ancient Roshar, and so little number of godspren, since godspren are cognitive projections of people's believed divines, like Nu Ralik. Therefore, rare Bondsmiths existed. Stormfather had been there before Shards arrived, but now he's the "shadow of Almighty", he could be considered godspren as well.
  17. Seen in one TheoryLand Interview Database: So I guess that's it: at least we are sure that Heralds are not born Rosharan. They were brought. If you think they're humanoid dragons... are you implying that they're Yolish? Yolen is my first candidate if Heralds were brought, tho.
  18. I want to know, who curved glyphs predicting the upcoming of Everstorm in the room? Many said it's Renarin. So if it's true... Isn't Renarin foreseeing the future? Then, isn't forecasting of Odium?! (I haven't made much research on this area, so apologize if I said anything incorrect
  19. Unfortunately we are actually not sure whether D&D are lovers or not.
  20. Yup, it's kinda speculation. Intents are just big directions of how Shards act. So Bavadin might be neutral for his Autonomy intent, might not be neutral for his personal decision as well. We've secretly got an WoB that Autonomy means "no needs to lean on others", it could be interpreted that Autonomy kinda focus on self. Neutral right? The problems of Intents and acts often went a little too far. Anyone could explain them in his or her own ways. It's not quite a strong proof for theories. I would prefer to see Intents only, rather than what Shards have done in books.
  21. Sure we all should admit that it's just a theory, and theories are not 100% sure, but if one theory is more deducted and logical, evidence-based, that would make the one more meaningful, can we all agree with that? It's not the problem of who's right who's wrong. For Harmony's sake, let's just focus on the thread and keep away from quarrels, all fine?:)) I don't wanna summon Nergaoul to come here lol
  22. Investiture is kinda natural energy/physics in cosmere, and it could be manifested in different ways. Shards would make the Investiture on the planet become more systemic and available for people. But there are usually environmental Investiture system in minor shardworlds, like: First of the Sun: worms absorbing Investiture, then eaten by Aviars or other animals, so they have mental abilities. Threnody: somehow, cognitive shadows could easily affect physical world. Ashyn: it'll have a story called "Silence Divine", in which people can get abilities from diseases. That might be because that pathogens(bacteria, virus etc.) need the host to survive, so they supply Investiture for hosts to use. We'll just see how things will go on:3
  23. We've got confirmed that Hoid used to be a human, but now he's something different now and it's "complicated". You can say that one of the three sapiens on Yolen is mankind. It's not totally confirmed whether all 16 vessels are human. Brandon called all sapiens "people", that would include Listeners, Aimians, kandra, even dragons. Again, the things about 2 Hoids: The Hoid we know now was originally named Midius, when he's at Yolen. Midius' mentor was the very 1st Hoid, then he died, so Midius took the name Hoid and went on a journey to Partinel, later appeared in all the books we've seen. For short, there have been two Hoids, and the one we've seen in all publisheds is Midius, the very 2nd one. We will see the 1st Hoid in Dragonsteel series. At least I believe so.
  24. This can't guarantee that they're allies. I thought they were at first, but gradually I found that this sentence did, actually, not indicate that. It would be a logical flaw. Svrakiss is enemy of Jaddeth. It's just a myth character in Sel mythology. Yes the mythology in cosmere often contains some part of truth, but you can't just think that Jaddeth or Domi must be Shards. Putting things together doesn't mean it is definitely right, we still need more evidence. Over-connecting is usually off-tracked as well.
