  1. In chapter 2 of part 4: "He'd retrieved the coin, but had found more than he intended. The pouch of coin, and beside it a journal of Mare's." In this context the phrase 'pouch of coin' seems like it should be 'coins'. But that may not make sense, since only one coin is mentioned? And in chapter 3 of part 4: "There was a certain freedom to being able to move though walls."
  2. It's up on the Orem B&N website now: Tuesday the 16th at 7pm.
  3. I've been thinking along the same lines, Nokomis. The pieces are all there. And thinking of Cognitive Shadows gaining physical bodies made me think of the army of Cognitive Shadows with red eyes over on Threnody... But I find the Svrakiss idea really, really compelling. Already Elantris has a much larger influence over the cosmere than I realized.
  4. Eep, accidental downvote for kabu - can someone please fix it?? Was going to say something similar but you worded it better than I would have. Stupid clumsy fingers. So sorry!
  5. I've been thinking about how the religion was described by Sazed: based on two brothers, one jealous of the other, one rules the day and the other the night. One brother has only one eye. Also, when Bloody Tan talks about Trell in AoL, he mentions in the same breath that he's met both Death and the Survivor. Not sure how to fit all the pieces together, but Kelsier is certainly part of it, even if just by coincidence. Maybe he arbitrarily remembered Trelagism from Sazed and used it to gain influence in the south, and later it all spiraled out of his control. There's also the WoB that "who Trell is and what happened is a matter of some interest in the cosmere and amusement to me" (that was from last month's Orem signing).
  6. My daughters and I were #5! We were right in front of you. We each asked one question: My oldest asked if it took a life to create Nightblood: No, it did not. My younger daughter asked why, if Renarin could see the future, did he say "We're dead"? Brandon said this will be explained soon (I didn't remember Book 3 being specifically mentioned but I was distracted, and she swears she heard him say that's where it would be addresseed further). My question was, At what point did Renarin hear the Shardblades screaming? He said "Earlier than what was apparent." That was my reaction of surprise/excited relief. I have a deep love for Renarin and was happy to hear that he's as tough as I thought. So we really didn't get much, either. I wish we'd had more time. I had more questions ready, and what we managed to ask was probably not the juiciest. But hey, no RAFOs! (...well, maybe one soft RAFO, but I barely count it as one. For me/us and my RAFO history, these answers were pretty good.)
  7. Aagh! Accidental downvote for Master_Moridin while scrolling - can someone please fix it? So sorry!
  8. Yes, of course! That's why I put the qualifiers ('sometimes' and 'often'). It's fair to call me on this, Pathfinder, and worth clarifying that RAFOs aren't always meaningful. It does seem significant in this case, though, that tobar was not given a simple answer. After all, if the oathstone was held by the Parshendi, he would have said so. The RAFO opens up more possibilities.
  9. Ahh, good question! And congrats on your inscribed RAFO. You worded your question very well. A wise Sharder once told me that RAFOs sometimes tell us as much as explanations — and at the very least, they often mean we're asking important questions. This is interesting. I think you're absolutely right. There's far more going on here than what we've been told, and much of the story we've been given about Gavilar's assassination doesn't make much sense.
  10. “So that’s what that damnation book was about.” ^ Is that a reference to Watership Down? Not sure why that book would exist here, but I can't think of any other possibilities...Any guesses? ...Ah, just remembered that Wayne first read the bunny book in the epilogue of Alloy; he'd stolen it from someone on the train. "It's a pretty good book. You should try it. It's about bunnies. They talk. Damnedest thing ever."
  11. Yes, skaa, that's very, very close. Make the diamonds narrower/taller and that's the design as I remember it.
  12. Vin assumed he did when she saw the scars on his arms. He didn't correct her. But his scars were from self-harm; Zane was never in the Pits.
  13. Not all of the Originators survived to see the end, though. I'm honestly not sure what the definition of "Originator" is, since several of those named in that section died before they had the chance to get to the caves.
  14. Ha! Now there's something to keep me busy until SA is complete. Seriously, though, thank you for saying this. I was rather discouraged about how the Q&A went - distracted by all the RAFOs and didn't process how much we had actually learned in those few minutes.
  15. Thank you! And thank you for the upvote! I've tried to replicate the symbol, but honestly I have not been able to. Isaac's drawing of it was so elegant and striking, and my attempts always look utterly clumsy and uneven. And the symmetry is one of the best parts of it! I cannot do it justice. But I can try to explain it so you have at least an idea of what it looks like. Draw three diamonds side by side, elongated lengthwise, with the middle diamond touching the others at its side corners. They are lined up like latticework. Where the diamonds touch, erase just a little on opposite sides of the corners, so you have one long line (forming the top angle of the left diamond and the bottom angle of the one beside it) instead of four intersecting lines. The other line is interrupted where it would have crossed the long line. Do the same to the other intersection, so that you have two continuous lines that are parallel to each other and two lines perpendicular to them that are missing little pieces where they would have touched the two long lines. The main lines remind me of two Zs turned at an angle. The diamonds are all mostly whole, minus those little gaps. No lines intersect. Does that help, or am I making it worse?
  16. Hello all, I'm chasmfriend on tumblr. First post here, which I've been hesitant to do because I usually feel so far out of my depth. This place is a little intimidating. But my ramblings after the signing are here, so I am too. I'm glad that even with all our RAFOs, we were able to find out some things. I really am a RAFO-magnet. That Nightblood question was initially mine too, but I gave it to my kid, thinking that maybe it had a better chance to be answered - my kids get answers, but I don't. And it worked. (The only question I've not been RAFO'd for was the Ghostbloods symbol, which Isaac showed me at the SoS release. It will be in Book 3.) The Lady Truth RAFO was completely unexpected. My thought in the moment was that I wanted at least one answer, so I picked the easiest question from my list. The one I was sure would be nearly a throwaway. Instead, it got a long explanation about why he wouldn't reveal it. Really, I might be cursed. Someone else should ask this one. Yes! That was what he was saying. (The question was "is Nightblood consuming" the Investiture - I updated the wording on the transcript.) Brandon emphasized that it was happening very slowly, so my impression is that NB's appetite is not having a huge impact on the total amount.
