  1. I've suffered from depression, for a long while.  Though I didn't know it was depression at the time (it felt like I was just seeing the world for what it is, still feels that way, but less lately).  I'm seeing a psychologist about my depression, and he's helping me to overcome that depression.

I would recommend getting help.  I know such things have a stigma attached to them, but you might be surprised by how effective seeing someone professional can be.  Hang in there, and feel free to send me a PM if you want to talk.

  2. So, I just ordered a switch.  ...For when the neices and nephews come over.  One always has his game console of choice with him (recently, its become the switch).  So I can set both up on my network, give the joycons to the kids, and let them play in the other room.  Its its not, so I can play breath of the wild.

Nope, and I definitely did not order breath of the wild as well as the switch.  (non-nonchalant whistling)

  3. I was one of those who hated the idea of audio books.  I grew up holding a book in my hand, and reading passages way above my reading level.

But when I started college, I simply didn't have time to read any longer.  I had to use all my non-driving time, to do homework.  And (if there was some time) play some video games.  But I was still missing reading novels, and knowing what happened in them.  So I got myself an audible subscription.  And, let me tell you all, its awesome.

When the author, works with the narrator, and the narrator puts emphasis and caring into each characters lines, it is amazing.  If you listen to the star wars novels, the audio books turn it into as much a movie as possible, including sound effects.  Most others don't go to that production level, but its still a neat thing to listen too.

And I only read the martian, on audible.  And I was laughing so hard, I had to pull over a few times.  Just from the narrators delivery of the characters lines.

I've had some flops too, where the narrator clearly didn't care.  Or I simply didn't like the novel in question.

But overall, I'd say my audio book experience has been far more positive then negative.

Would you rather have the ending of every book you read spoiled before you can finish, or never get to finish the books and be left wondering what happens?

I would rather know the endings of books.  Though both those options suck.

Would you rather live for over a thousand years, but be incredibly ugly?  Or be incredibly beautiful, but only live for 20 years?

  5. My closet is bad.  I don't exactly spent a whole lot of time in there :P but its where I keep my clothes.  My problem is, I only have the 1 shelf to keep clothes on.  the other 2 are too high for clothing keeping.  So I ordered a set of wire metal shelves off amazon.  I plant to fasten the top and bottom of the shelves, to my existing shelves, with velcro cable ties.  Then store my clothes and such in the box shelves.

These are the shelves I ordered btw: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06XTX6CV2/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1.

It doesn't take much to make me happy!  ^_^

  6. 1.) To find the love of a partner (preferably a woman, but I'll take what I can get at this point).  But not have it forced on someone (myself or someone else).

2.) A portal (or some other means of time travel) to the future, where I could get on a colony ship bound for a new world.

3.) To be able to learn things at an incredible rate.  So that I could make myself useful on this ship, and the new colony it founds.

All this said, I have to agree with @captains domon.  The djin are known for turning wishes back on the wishers, making them from dreams to nightmares.

So you're not a fan of medieval genre fantasy then gotcha. I would still classify Steampunk as a sub-genre of fantasy.

Yea, I rather like the fantasy stuff outside of the medieval times era.  The shadow run games are a great example.  But there is nothing about the medieval time period I like.  Not even really sword fighting in modern times.

I do see the convenience of it but I'm not going to let a stranger come in. Heck the radio station I listen to talked about it this morning and the guy suggested maybe a strongbox instead.

But that way, they couldn't get real time video on your house interior, real time audio, and unlimited access to your house whenever they wanted.  ;)

  9. Hidy ho all,

I just came across this site: https://kano.me/.  It has build your own computer kits, primarily marketed at kids, to help folks learn about building kits, and programming.  I thought it was neath, and I'd pass it along.

According to the site, they teach you how to program in Java/Python/Unix with the kits.

Edit: I wish I'd have had these kits when I was younger.

  10. Hidy ho all,

I just read this new story on my local site.  And its...quite terrifying. longisland.news12.com/story/36683883/not-at-home-amazon-wants-to-come-in-and-drop-off-packages

The short of it is, you let an amazon delivery person, into your home, to drop off a package, while your not there.  You buy an amazon lock, and amazon camera, the delivery person is then let past your lock, and into your home.

How is this anything but scary?  And how do you feel about the idea?

My guess would be people who just want to run it as a headless web / database server, but don't want to use Linux for some reason (interoperability with other computers, probably?)

 Does apache have problems with compatibility?

Linus is still working on the kernel, but I've heard he doesn't write much code these days.  He usually handles git pull requests and the release process instead.

He keep showing up to the various Linux conferences, so I'm guessing he doesn't hate us too much :)

Well, I learned something new today! :) Though I have no idea what those things he handles are.

Still, glad he's still involved.  And still showing up to conferences too.
