Long Game 30: Journey Before Destination
Arraenae replied to Amanuensis's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Yeah, they have. That's kind of my fault. :/ Basically just a combination of procrastination, laziness, and RL stuff. Getting two wisdom teeth pulled did not put me in a mood to do serious thinking beyond how-do-I-not-get-blood-all-over-my-keyboard-and-tablet or where-the-storms-did-the-gauze-go-did-I-lose-something-again? Seriously, I'm starting to think that I have the superpower of making things vanish into nothingness. Of course, now that I've storming procrastinated on this, I'm going to look like I'm bandwagoning, despite thinking this for a few days. Lovely. I suppose this is what I deserve, after procrastinating for three days. Teresh (Drake) looks like he's trying to hide something by accusing others. What unique thing has Ralaani done that is so horrible she must be jailed? Um, I, um, I wanted to interrogate Arionium (Arinian). That was, um, pretty bad. And, um, all he did was -- Spare us the deprecation-complex or whatever it is already. You weren't the one who wanted to imprison Arionium, I was. Besides, other people wanted to do the exact same thing too. Naihar (Alvron)voted to imprison him at the party. After the chasmfiend fight, Naihar voted to imprison him again, along with, let's see, Jonly (Joe), Petrik (Drought), Shinon (Lopen), Ranatar (Randuir), and Rea (Silverdragon). And then when we got back, a lot of the same people wanted to execute him, plus Hithon (Doc), Sareth (Headshot), Balthazar (Magestar), Kintas (Jondesu), and Fifth Nameless (Ecth). Not Petrik, for some reason. And, um, the quiver person too, right? Oh, right! And the quiver person too. I can't remember his name, whatever it was. He dropped out of the Initiates. Anyways, I'm not the only person who has accused Arionium. Why is Teresh going after us? Aman, I don't see Sheep or Quiver in the player list for this cycle. Is this intentional? -

Okay. I'll admit it. I was dodging the game a bit. I was at an out-of-state sport tournament at the time, and my phone battery was getting very low. I had five hours of sleep, for maybe the second day in a row. I did not have the brainpower or battery to read through the thread, think coherently, and place an intelligent vote. So yes, I dodged the game and watched the tournament instead. I can PM you a full list of everything I did that day, if you really want to know. -

Oh, come on, Drake. The cycle started about 23 hours ago. It's three days long. That's 72 hours long. I explicitly said that I want time to think. Or would you prefer that I mindlessly tunnel on Arinian and ignore eveything new that pops up? Just because I haven't placed a vote on him now doesn't mean I won't ever again. -

If we wanna imprison Arionium (Arinian), we can have to do it quickly. Um... won't he run away again? It took two cycles for me to start seeing spren pop up. One of them might have been his cultivationspren. The only way for him to have escaped like that would be to use Stormlight. It'll take at least two cycles to get enough Stormlight to do that again. By that time, he'll be safely locked up. Rissa, um, uh, why are we, uh, imprisoning him again? I, um, I think he might be innocent. I don't want to, uh, execute somebody. I um, I think we might be wasting our time with Arionium. *considers* Maybe you have a point. I've been accusing Arionium a lot. Let me think about this more. -

Arionium, the issue isn't whatever number you spouted, it was your certainty. There could be four Unjust. Or five. Or three. We don't know. When you talked about the Unjust, you sounded very certain. An Honorable Initiate sould have no way to tell how many Unjust there are. Uh, um, they could go, um, to the Nightwatcher. Or, um, maybe get it out of the Stormfather (Aman)? *rolls eyes* The Almighty doesn't work like that. Anyways, Hithon, of course I know that a Initiate voting on an Unjust doesn't guarantee the Initiate's innocence. But if someone says that they Arionium's gotta be Honorable because Ralaani's an Unjust, why didn't they try to pardon Arionium? Ashetvl was an Honorable Initiate who got murdered in jail. Why weren't they worried about that? -

"Come on Ralaa!" Jonly yelled. He tossed the rope to Ralaanar, who fumbled the catch. "Come on, come on, come on!" Rissa screamed. Ralaanar grabbed onto the rope and was yanked upwards. He squeaked and squeezed his eyes shut. Jonly yelled something else, but it was covered up by the sound of rushing water. Ralaanar squeezed his eyes even tighter, but it didn't help. He could still hear the water sloshing down the canyon. Someone else climbed onto the rope and bumped into Ralaanar. He opened his eyes and looked. It was the blind man, Hithon. He felt wrong somehow, though Ralaanar couldn't tell why. He hastily scooted away from the man. "Storms, somone's still down there!" Rissa said. Ralaanar turned his head to see Aaron running from the wall of water. It was hopeless. The muddy water gained on him faster than he could hope to outrun it. Ralaanar got a sick feeling at the bottom of his stomach. The man was going to drown, and Ralaanar could only watch. There was no more room for Aaron on the rope. "Do something!" Rissa shouted. Ralaanar tried to let go of the rope to offer a hand, but it had tangled around his arms. He wasted precious moments trying to fight free, but it only served to further entangle his hands. The rope. Aaron needed a rope to grab onto, but there wasn't any other rope here, just a bunch of rockbuds and vines and oher useless things -- A vine towards the end of the canyon lengthened. It grew longer, long enough for Aaron to grab. Ralaanar breathed a sigh of relief. -

Last cycle, I voted on Arinian. The timing of my vote might have looked like bandwagoning, but it wasn't intentional bandwagoning. (It might have been unintentional bandwagoning, since I'm kind of susceptible to groupthink, especially if I don't have notes of my own, but that's besides the point). I was suspicious of Arinian since C2, mostly for bad gut feeling and because of what he said. I didn't vote for him then, because there were quite a few votes on him and I didn't want to bandwagon. Of course, that was rendered a moot point C3. Arinian was the best lead I had, shakey as it was. So I voted on him. If I'm an elim, then Arinian probably isn't one. If he is, this I'm probably not one. So if you think I'm an elim and Arinian is village, then interrogate me and vote to pardon him. Why let a player get executed if you think they're village? If you're not sure, then vote to execute him. Knowing Arinian's alignment will give us a lot more info to work with. Whatever you think, pick something and stick with it. Either vote to pardon or execute him. Don't stay silent. -

Looks like things have been a little quiet. Tintalle (Elbereth), Hashiv (DA), Lyna (The Lazy Anarchist), and Hess (JUQ) haven't said anything recently. They're not helping us find the Unjust. Speak up! -

Ralaanar was scooped up by Jonly and carried away from the Voidbringers. Ralaanar let out a sigh of relief. That... that had been too close. Ralaanar mumbled out thanks, but Jonly cut him off. "Right, let's get back to the others, Ralaa." Ralaa? Did Jonly know? "I, um, I can run from here," Ralaanar said. He squirmed out of Jonly's grasp. -

Ralaanar froze at the appearance of the Voidbringers. They were bigger than he'd thought they would be, half-humanoid, half-monster. Scarlet lightning crackled between their hands, matching their bright red eyes. "Ralaani, you have to run!" someone said. Rissa. Ralaanar remained locked in place. He watched in horror as red lightning shot out at Kintas. "Storms, you have to move, Ralaanar!" Rissa screamed. The green spren tugged at Ralaanar's arm, which had no effect. His fear had paralyzed him. If someone wants to grab Ralaanar and make him move, that would be much appreciated. -

@Amanuensis, do the Unjust have to investigate someone if they've been interrogated? -

Arionium (Arinian). As I said before, he did some fishy stuff. First he specifically said that there were four elims. Then he asked those questions, supposedly to pad out his posts. Um, uh, what questions? Well, I don't remember, but someone out there does. Anyways, Aronium has felt wrong since the party. Weren't people gonna interrogate him then? Um... yes? Yeah, what happened to that? Feels like we just jumped on Ashetvl (Sheep) instead. -

Teresh (Drake), that thing about calling out our bluffs would be a lot more dramatic had you waited a few more hours to say that. We're being chased by storming Voidbringers! At least wait for us to get somewhere clear before lobbing around accusations, yeah? Rollover is at midnight for me. Now, I don't know about you, but I try to go to sleep by 10:45 PM. Then I also have school. I got up at 6:40 AM today and had fifteen minutes to read through Aman's writeup while eating breakfast. School starts at 7:30 for me. I cannot use the phone in first period unless I want it taken away from me. It's not even my phone, so if I have to go to the office to pick it up after confiscation, bad things will happen. After that class, I have another one with intermittent, unpredictable computer use. Sometimes I can check SE, and sometimes I can't. It depends on what I'm supposed to be doing. Then I have a 15 minute recess where I can choose to check SE. I say "choose" because I don't always want to spend my 15 minute break on SE and SE alone. Sometimes I buy food. Sometimes I get outside and socialize. If I choose to check SE, I can either use a school laptop, if it's available, or a phone, if it's available. The laptop is connected to very poor internet. The phone is a pain to type on. Then there's a class with more frequent computer access, and afterwards I have lunch. Again, for lunch, I can choose to check SE. I can also choose to eat and socialize. Sometimes I don't have a phone to check SE with. At the time you made that post, I effectively had 15 minutes total (maybe less) to check SE. I spent a lot of that time reading Aman's writeup. Would you like it if 15 minutes after rollover, someone said that you were being suspiciously silent? I have a life outside of SE, and sometimes I haven't posted anything 10 or 11 hours after rollover. That doesn't mean that I've pulled an all-nighter, skipped school, and was in front of a computer the entire 10 or 11 hours between rollover and now. Please try to consider the schedule of players before calling them out for supposedly being silent. I spent a lot of time typing that up. Now the teachers want me off of this laptop. I will respond to what you said. I just can't do it right this very moment. -

Long Game 30: Journey Before Destination

What is it with this obsession over "actives"? The Unjust can be active too. Confirmed active does not mean confirmed good. I like to focus on people that I can hear. Other people might not. I'm voting for Arionium (Arinian) to be interrogated because of his certainty. A lot of the things he says doesn't add up. The Almighty (Aman) was pretty clear when he said what was honorable and what wasn't. I don't see how a "visual lie" would change his mind. Padding out discussion with filler questions is more like what an Unjust would do. -

I probably won't be very active over the next week. Too many things, not enough time for SE. -

Asking questions isn't honorable, Arionium (Arinian). The Almighty (Aman) said that at the party yesterday. For someone publicly asking the Almighty for guidance, you seem very unaware of what he actually said. Can I, um, can I add something here? At, um, the gala, Arionium (Arinian) said that there for four Unjust. Do we know how many of them there are? How, um, how did he know that? I... I think that he's lying about something. Or he knows more, um, more than us. Yeah. Um. Does that make sense? No? I'll, um, I'll just shut up now... Ralaanar gaped at the Initiates throwing themselves over the edge with. How were they doing that? He couldn't imagine how the Initiates dealt with being forced to jump down. Even the thought of jumping made a purple cloud of fearspren rise around him. And then there was the chasmfiend at the bottom, waiting for them... Ralaanar pulled out a piece of paper and a reed pen out of his Safepouch. The paper was slightly damp, but he could deal with that. He unfolded the paper, put it against the ground, and began to sketch the scene. The chasmfiend was almost beautiful from this distance. It was violet, almost the same color as fearspren. Its movements were graceful, almost like a dancer. A predatory dancer, perhaps? It turned and roared. Next to the chasmfiend, the Initiates looked like ants. They ran and stabbed at its legs, but didn't seem to have any effect. Then Ralaanar noticed someone that was somehow on the chasmfiend. Slowly, the chasmfiend began to stumble. Its legs didn't move so gracefully anymore. The Initiates attacked it, over and over, until it collapsed. Ralaanar's pen dropped out of his hand. Awespren popped into existence around his head. How... how had that happened? Had the Initiates killed a chasmfiend? No. Not yet. A moment later, Ralaanar saw it move again. He sighed and picked up his pen again to continue sketching the scene. So, while everybody was risking their lives, Ralaanar was drawing. Helpful, huh? On the bright side, you can approach him for souvenirs later! -

Shinon offered his cloak to Ralaanar. He snatched it and put it around his shoulders, mumbling thanks. I see no reason why we need to execute Ashetvl. She's gonna be stuck in jail. She won't be able to talk to us from there. If we think she's one of those Unjust, we can execute her later. Um. Uh, yeah, uh murder seems a bit harsh. Even if she did mutiny. Um. I might not be able to RP until tomorrow. Blame sleep and sports paractice for that. -

Some time ago... "Um, um, um. Uh. I, uh, um. My dress got ripped in the Highstorm and, uh, um, it's falling to shreds. So, uh..." Ralaanar trailed off. He pulled his torn dress up higher, unsure of what to say. He'd been trying to steal Shinon's cloak? He needed something to cover up his very obvious lack of breasts? None of those answers would work. Ralaanar is going to be absolutely useless in this fight. Blame his parents for that. He'd work better as a field medic, when he's not admiring how pretty the chasmfiend is. -

When the Highstorm finished, Ralaanar sat up. He glowed with the intense blue-white of Stormlight, undamaged, without a scratch. Everything that the Highstorm had done to him had been healed. He felt better than before, like the storm had been a refreshing bath instead of a deadly soaking that had almost killed him. “What, um, what happened?” he asked. “You’re a Radiant now,” Rissa said grumpily. “Congrats.” “I… what?” “I got you to swear the First Ideal so you wouldn’t die. So now you’re a Radiant, just like all the other Initiates,” Rissa said. “You, um, don’t… you don’t sound happy about it,” Ralaanar said. “Of course not. Someone was storming murdered out there! Murdered! Lomot was harmless, but the the Unjust killed him anyways. They’ve been killing Radiants for a while. So now you’re a target,” Rissa said. “Worse, you’re now an Initiate, and your new leader is Captain storming Kaladin, is a cremhole who deliberately forced his Initiates to stand outside in a Highstorm!” Ralaanar stayed silent for a while, trying to absorb the implications. Finally, he asked, “How do you know this?” “Listened around,” Rissa said. Ralaanar tried to draw in his cloak, then realized that it had been torn away by the wind. He looked down, and realized that his havah had been completely torn apart. His legs were exposed, the right sleeve was gone, and the neckline had been torn so low that it was obvious he wasn’t a girl. He sighed and stood up. He clutched the hem of his havah with his Safehand, so he had some semblance of a covering. Then he walked off to find himself a new cloak. Ralaanar walked around, trying to find a good person to steal from. "I thought we'd be fighting Voidbringers, not ourselves," a man grumbled. There! If Ralaanar remembered right, that man was someone important, who wouldn’t mind if he lost something. Ralaanar slowly walked over, trying to be inconspicuous. After minutes of walking, he was within arm’s reach of the man, who was facing the other way. He reached out and grabbed the man’s cloak. -

Whatever this talk about "RP" is, I don't like it. We can't cut down on it. We're Radiants! I'm a spren, but same difference. JOURNEY BEFORE DESTINATION! You all knew what you were signing up for. If you want discussion, make some. Ashetvl's a rude piece of crem, but I don't think she's the murderer. What exactly has she done, anyways? I think the murder is far more likely to be somebody whining about an overabundance of RP. I don't remember who exactly said what, but I'm watching you. Sorry if that's a bit harsh. When I get back home I'll look at the thread and see who's saying RP makes it hard to get a read on people. I'd do it now, but I'm not skipping class for this. EDIT: Ecthelion.
