Long Game (3)2: Pulling on Strings
Arraenae replied to Orlok Tsubodai's topic in Sanderson Elimination
We've got two Tineye messages this time. I think we have at least one Tineye. The other message is either from a Tineye who didn't send in a message N1 or a Mistborn. -

There's also a possibility that the Inquisitor looked at Aman's challenge, thought "ooh, free convert!" and then sent in a kill order on Aman. -

Based off of the amount of grumbling that Meta did over LG2's Uber-tin, I'm guessing that it might have been changed. Transcribing every single PM in this game is a lot of work, and I'm pretty sure Orlok and Stink aren't sadists. -

Gah. Thought about this and realized that I don't suspect Yitzi, I just really don't like his lack of reasoning. Yitzi. -

@Arinian, I don't attract bloodthirsty hordes looking to off me that quickly. Try waiting a few cycles. Has Meta said anything this game? He's on the player list, he ran the first version of this game, and he's a mod. There's no reason for him to be this silent. @Metacognition, you are playing this game, right? I'm voting for Yitzi2 for an overall lack of reasoning. It's hard to follow and doesn't make a lot of sense. In this community, a "follow the cop" strategy with a few cleared people dictating what everyone else does until they too are cleared is generally frowned upon. (Orlok, our GM is particularly vocal against those.) Additionally, since this is a conversion game, all scans should be taken with a grain of salt, because someone who was village today might not be village tomorrow. However, the potential existence of one slim Smoker doesn't render Seekers completely useless. The Smoker still has to choose who to smoke, and they can only cover themselves and one other person. The Seeker can still seek others. Besides, an eliminator scan is still an eliminator scan, regardless of how many Smokers there are in the game. -

Aman said in a PM that he made the challenge to make the Inquisitor have to choose between options that could hint at who they are. If the Inquisitor killed Aman, it would protect more vital roles, and if it didn't kill Aman, he'd have more protection. If he hadn't made the challenge, the Inquisitor would have just done their own thing with kills. -

Drake, you're dodging the question. You consistently pushed for a lynch, yet you didn't vote. In order for there to be a lynch, someone has to have at least two votes on them. However, people pushing for a lynch don't just happily sit back once there's two votes on someone. They vote and maybe push other people to vote. Your lack of a vote when you advocated for a lynch signals a lack of consistency, as Wilson says below. -

Mark, N1 you made a comment about initially thinking that this game would be "completely roleless". Why would you have thought that? -

Rhea woke to the sound of applause. She opened her eyes, but couldn't see anything. Rough cloth pressed against her face, and her mouth was gagged shut. By the Lord Ruler, what -- how -- what -- Rhea screamed, or tried to. It came out muted and barely audible, even to her own ears. Oh, Lord Ruler Lord Ruler Lord Ruler --how could she escape -- what had happened where was Uncle Dayton --she needed to get out! She brought her hands to her face and found a burlap bag. Rhea grabbed it and flailed. Lord Ruler, she could barely breathe with the gag she wanted it off off off off -- Finally she pulled it off. Relief! Rhea fell to the ground, panting. She must have been kidnapped. How had she gotten here? Didn't matter. She had to escape. Rhea scrambled to her feet and ran. A few white envelopes dripped from her pocket, but she ignored them. She had to get out escape run -- straight into a Terrisman. He hunched over the ground, digging something. A grave! Her grave! By the Lord Ruler -- Rhea shrieked and promptly fainted. -

@OrlokTsubodai and @STINK, what'll happen to a Soother's own vote if they soothe someone else's vote? Can they soothe their own vote? What'll happen to a Rioter's vote if they riot someone else's vote? -

Here's a comparison of the vote tallies. The one to the left is from Aman's final vote tally in D1, and the one to the right that is from Orlok's post. Final vote tally pre-manipulation: Final vote tally post-manipulation: (3) Sart: Sart, Amanuensis, DroughtBringer, (4) Sart: Sart, Amanuensis, Droughtbringer, TheMightyLopen (2) Mark IV: Jondesu, Ecthelion III, (1) Mark IV: Jondesu, (2) DroughtBringer: Elenion, Arinian, (2) Drought: Elenion, Arinian (1) Aonar Faileas: Silverblade5, (0) Aonar Faileas: (1) Ecthelion III: Mark IV, (1) Ecthelion III: Mark IV, (1) Silverblade5: Randuir (1) SilverBlade: Randuir EDIT: Accidentally sent this early. I've reformatted it to be easier to understand and added analysis. No votes pre-manipulation: Hemalurgic Headshot, Darkness Ascendant, Magestar, Herwynbe, Yitzi2, Metacognition, Arraenae, TheMightyLopen, little wilson, Iamspartacus, Ornstein, Araris Valerian, Dalinar Kholin, OmeGaster, Kipper, Bugsy, Figberts, Manukos, Aonar Faileas All changes are colored in orange. Ecth's vote and Silverblade's votes are gone. Lopen's vote was added to Sart's vote. Sart was already going to be lynched, so Lopen's rioted vote didn't change the outcome of the lynch. Before soothing, Mark and Drought were in danger of being lynched instead of Sart, if there was a last minute vote switch. I think it might be worthwhile to watch Mark and Drought more closely later. It's possible that Silverblade might just have been soothed by a friendly village Soother. If I was a Soother, I'd let people know by picking a poke vote that had no influence on lynch decisions and sooth it. I think that might have happened here. -
In the beginning, there was me.

Long Game (3)2: Pulling on Strings

The issue with Thug claiming is that Thugs have a buffer life. They take two hits to go down, which is very useful if they're the target of an elim kill. For example, let's say that Orlok was getting close to figuring out who the elims were. Stink, the Inquisitor, puts the kill order on Orlok, but Orlok doesn't die. Now the elims have been denied a kill, and Orlok gets to keep talking. I don't see why we would want to give up that advantage. Maybe we have some Seekers that could go through every Thug and scan them. Maybe we don't. It'sS possible that we have no Seekers. Also, some village thugs might not want to claim. If all the Thugs claim, then in the scenario above, Stink would know that he'd have to double-tap Orlok and Orlok would die earlier. The little advantage we'd get from Thug-claiming doesn't seem to outweigh the advantage we'd get from Thugs soaking up hits and staying alive. -

To be honest, I hadn't read the signups thread for a few days before posting in this one. I didn't know your character interacted with mine until after I poke-voted you. Thanks for responding. OmeGaster @randuir, I looked back at C2 of LG30 and can't see where I berated Drake for poke voting on someone. The closest thing that I can think of was C5, where I made a comment about not wanting to take time to rethink my suspicions of Arinian and Drake said that he found that suspicious. I snapped at him a bit because I had said I wanted time to think instead of mindlessly tunneling. Here's a link to where it started. -

Alright. Read over the LG2 rules. So there's one elim now: the Inquisitor. This reminds me a bit of LG31, where Mage was some elim equivalent. The GMs said that they picked him to be a elim because he had the lowest lynch rates as an elim. Obviously, this game is different, but maybe Orlok and Stink would have had similar principles for distribution? There's one elim in this game and one elim in that game (I think, feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.) obviously, no two players will play exactly the same, but I feel like the Inquisitor might act similarly to the way Mage did in LG31. Also, analyzing relationships in D1 to find elims is probably going to be useless, because there's only one elim now. The only type of elim relationship in this game at the moment is Inquisitor-self. Obviously this will change after a Misting dies, though. @OrlokTsubodai @STINK, there is only one Inquisitor in this game, right? Also, could you put a link to the LG2 rules in the LG32 Quicklinks? K thnx love u bai. -

@Amanuensis, I poke-voted OmeGaster because nobody had voted yet and I wanted to kick off discussion. If your vote on me is any indication, it's working! Also, sometimes a mention isn't enough to get someone to post. If, 5 hours into a game, I have to choose between slapping a poke vote or nothing, I'll pick the poke vote. I couldn't really do much else at the moment. I was on mobile (still am) and was in no mood to do all the window-switching between the game thread and the rules post required to give advice on roles. To be honest, I've barely read the rules. Yeah, I know that's bad practice. I'll read the rules eventually. I'm a little sleep-deprived now (storming roomate had the TV on with sound at 1 something in the morning, approaching 2 and I had to get up at 6:30 today) and not up to thinking of what to do with each role at the moment. RP is nice, but doesn't advance discussion. Sure I could put in-game analysis in my RP, but that still requires having stuff to say. What else could I have done besides a poke vote? I know you just provided several examples of asking, but seriously, when have you ever seen me do that? It takes less time (and thought) to slap on a poke vote. And you resoonded to that and now I'm responding to you, so yay discussion! I picked OmeGaster because I can vote on one person at once. Also because I looked at the player list and picked his name. Maybe it's further from returning player names so it stood out as being more new to me? Don't ask me, I'm not a psychologist. Honestly it didn't even occur to me that I could mention multiple people. I've gotten used to mentions not working for me and being able to mention OmeGaster in that post was a pleasant surprise. Maybe it works on mobile but not my laptop? If I'm rambling, blame my tiredness, or maybe blame the roommate that kept the storming TV on. Next time I'm not rooming with a night owl. Hopefully less-filtered Rae is easier to get reads on for you. There, does that cover most of your questions Aman? -

Okay. I'd just like to say this now: I cannot understand High Imperial at all. I'll need translations for all gameplay-related things said in High Imperial. Translations can be done similar to the way Sart did it in AG3 or some other way, but they'll have to be in plain English. I get that CRs are fun, but I'd like to have a way to know what is actually getting said. @OmeGaster/Rieyun! Welcome to SE. Please say something so I know that you're paying attention to this game. -

Rhea walked out onto the street with two cases of luggage and a purse. She was finally in Fadrex! She gazed around with wonder. Tall buildings rose into the sky, and the streets were remarkably clean of ash. Now she had to find Lord Tekiel. Rhea pulled the invitation out from her purse and reread it. She frowned. It didn't mention a meeting spot, so how was she supposed to know where to find Lord Tekiel? Rhea walked up to a passer-by. "Do you know where Lord Tekiel is?" she asked. Open to anyone to reply! -

Rhea tapped her feet excitedly in her carriage. She was going to Fadrex, the city where gossamer silk had first come into fashion! She couldn't wait to see what new trends were in Fadrex now. Sure, some snooty people said that only Luthadel fashion was worth following, but Fadrex had its own unique style. "Are we there yet?" she asked the carriage driver. "No. We'll arrive in about six hours, mistress," the carriage driver said. Rhea stopped tapping her feet. "How much further?" she asked. She started drumming her fingers against her legs. "Are we there yet?" Rhea asked. "We're arriving in another few hours, mistress. We still have to pass through two towns," the carriage driver said. "Oh," Rhea said. "Are we there yet?" Rhea asked. "Half an hour," the carriage driver said. "Are we there yet?" "No." Rhea stared out the window, watching the landscape pass. Brown hills replaced brown hills, and red sky replaced red sky. Occassionally a grey cloud would pass and break up the monotony. "Are we there --" "Yes, mistress" the carriage driver said. "We're here."
