Fair enough. The point still stands, since I don't see how analysis could get you to the conclusion you had claimed to get. I still think you're most likely an eliminator. Is that better for your grammar nazi-ness?

Okay, I give up on merging my RP with my gameplay. There's no way I can get Jayjay or even Other!Jayjay to say this stuff. Kynedath originally voted on Lopen for throwing suspicion on inactives who hadn't posted, which was part of Lopen's master plan to "be more trusted and less likely to be accused later on". That sounds like an overreaction. If Lopen really wanted to worm his way into the village's good graces, he'd probably have to work harder than just give a list of those who hadn't posted yet. Now, it's entirely possible that Lopen is an eliminator. However, I don't think that Kynedath's suspicion of Lopen for posting a list of those who hadn't posted yet was a well-founded suspicion. It sounds like a forced suspicion, not like a natural gut read. Also, Kynedath dropped his vote very quickly, which also feels off. I think Kynedath is more likely to be an eliminator than other players, so my vote's going on him. Doc, Kynedath.

Jayjay woke up with a start. She threw the covers off and sat up. "What was that?" she asked. That had sounded like -- a scream? I don't know, Jayjay said. Something dangerous. Jayjay stood up and glanced around. The entire house was dark, but if she squinted, she could see faint silhouettes of furniture in the room. She took a step forwards. The floor was cold. What are you doing? Jayjay asked. Stay in bed! "I need to investigate," Jayjay said. She took another step, and spread her hands in front of her to feel for obstacles. "I bet it's that Altmere (Helchon/Doc)! If we're quick, we might be able to catch him in the act." She walked another few hesitant steps forwards. Will you stop with the Altmere already? Jayjay asked. You don't have any proof. "Of course not. That's why we're going to catch him," Jayjay said. Her fingers brushed something hard, and she moved a few steps over to the left. Jayjay grumbled. Alright, investigate this and we'll go back to sleep, she said. Here, let me guide you. Jayjay sped up and reached the door. She opened it, and then reached the landing. That was when she saw the body. Jayjay screamed. Hello! I'll be attempting to RP most of this game, so my playstyle will be a bit different. I'm currently trying to mimic Aman's playstyle and do things suggested for politicians in Hardball.

Jayjay stared defiantly at the Altmeri, ready to give a rude retort if he asked her to fawn over him like some servant. She would not apologize to an elvish jerk, no matter how "superior" he claimed to be. If he roasted her on the spot, well, at least she wouldn't have died refusing to kneel. Don't be stupid, Jayjay said. This isn't the right cause to martyr yourself for. Just get those binoculars back. "Take care not to lose this again, girl," the Altmeri said. He handed Jayjay her binoculars and left. Jayjay took the binoculars and gaped at the retreating Altmeri. That was it? No no soliloquy of his superiority, no monologues of her inferiority, not even a demand of an apology? Altmeri were pretentious, except when they were plotting. "He has to be up to something," she declared. "We need to stop him." Don't be stupid, Jayjay repeated. Just because you haven't been fried on the spot yet is no reason to try again. "Maybe he wants the prize all to himself." Jayjay said. "Maybe he's going to steal it or something." Jayjay sighed. God, this alter ego acts like she has a death wish. "What?" Jayjay asked. Nothing, Jayjay said. Nothing you need to worry about. You run around while I figure out how to keep this body alive... Burnt, does Adarjmei need a target? Other!Jayjay doesn't like having her stuff stolen.

Jayjay observed the other participants through her binoculars. There were several humanoid creatures, as well as one with a cat’s head. They looked friendly enough, except for that elf in the corner. He looked like a big grump. Still, Jayjay wanted to introduce herself, especially to the cat-creature. Scout first, chat later, Jayjay reminded. “I know, I know,” Jayjay grumbled. “Don’t let them maneuver me into a corner.” She stood up from her perch on the rooftops and put her binoculars back in their case. Jayjay cautiously walked along the ledge. It was about a third of a meter wide, more than enough room for her feet, but she still felt like she was walking on a tightrope. She’d never been on a ledge this narrow or this high before. She took a step forwards. Then another, and another, until she was speedwalking along the ledge. Then her foot caught in something and she stumbled. Her binoculars flew out of her hand. Jayjay felt herself vault in a forwards tuck. The world swished by in a blur. She rolled to absorb the impact -- away from the edge. “Thanks,” Jayjay gasped. That had been way too close. Don’t thank me, Jayjay said. Pay more attention to your surroundings. “Still, you'll save me, right?” Jayjay asked. Jayjay started to say something, but Jayjay interrupted to forestall the lecture. “Stop, I get it,” Jayjay said. “No, you won’t help me, I gotta learn for myself, school of the self-taught individual and all that.” Shut up and pay attention, Jayjay said. She sounded unusually panicked. You need to get the binoculars back. Now. They've fallen on the Altmeri's head.

Jayjay leaned back in her chair and inspected the envelope. She held it with only his glove-covered thumb and pointer finger, so she could minimize skin contact. The envelope probably wasn't poisoned, but it was better to be safe than sorry. She wafted the air over the envelope to her nose, and took a cautious sniff. It smelled like ordinary paper. "Smells fine," Jayjay said. "Should be safe to open." Not yet, Jayjay insisted. Some poisons are odorless. Make sure there are no stains. Jayjay peered at the envelope, which was made of ordinary parchment. No stains. She took out her pocketknife and carefully opened the envelope flap. Inside was a piece of paper, which she gently eased out with her fingers. As she read it, her eyes widened. "Summitmist Manor! I've been invited to Summitmist Manor!" Jayjay said. She got up and pranced around her meager room in excitement. "Summitmist Manor! Summitmist Manor! I've been invited to Summitmist Manor!" Don't be foolish, Jayjay said. There's always a catch. Read over the invitation again. "Partypooper," Jayjay muttered. Still, she read over the letter again. Once in a lifetime opportunity, Summitmist Manor, secrets, lucky few, riches of her dreams, experience she'd never forget. It was the coolest thing she'd ever been invited to in her life. "I'm going," Jayjay said. You shouldn't, Jayjay warned. It'll be dangerous. "I don't care," Jayjay said. "This is too awesome to miss."

In the US Marine Corps, men and women are held to different standards in the physical fitness test. On one hand, it probably lets more women jion the Marine Corps. On the other hand, it's treating people differently based on their gender. Is this equality? Is this what feminism should strive for, or is it feminism should seek to change?

Long Game 28: The Awakening at the House on the Hill
Arraenae replied to Wyrmhero's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Perhaps I felt the urge to use some of those strategies suggested to future politicians. And, well, I'm ashamed to say this, but... I might have thought that telling everybody about the resulting playstyle changes would have reduced the effectiveness of those strategies. So, um. I tried to be clever and mimic a politician. And it seems to have backfired a little bit. Or, well, a lot. Please don't kill me I'm not the one plotting world domination Orlok is all I want is a nice comfy job in the creative sector even if I do go into politics I won't be a horrible person who has sold my morals for power I hope...- 980 replies

Long Game 28: The Awakening at the House on the Hill
Arraenae replied to Wyrmhero's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Thanks, Len. That means all those hours spent reading Hardball: How Politics is Played Told By One Who Knows The Game haven't gone to waste! I always figured that there had to be ways to improve my SE skills, but I never expected them to come from my brother's AP Gov textbook. Jondesu, I'm sorry if you think I have it in for you. That's why I posted my suspicions inthread, to see if anybody else had noticed the same thing and to create some discussion. Nobody seems to agree, so I might be misinterpreting. The more I think about it, the more I feel like I might be tunnelling (unfortunately, Hardball doesn't help with analysis). So, Jondesu.- 980 replies

Long Game 28: The Awakening at the House on the Hill
Arraenae replied to Wyrmhero's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Len, so far we've had one Night where the elims could have killed someone. I don't think it's that surprising that there have been no (known) kill attempts on El or Wilson. Also, if I was an elim, I don't think Wilson (rather, Khaos) would be a top-priority kill. Khaos has mostly RPed. Furthermore, there are experienced players other than El and Wilson. Bard is an experienced player. Maybe not the most experienced or most accurate player, but he has played SE before. I think I remember a few players remarking that Bard is a player to watch. I don't think it's surprising that El and/or Wilson aren't dead yet. Interesting, maybe, noteworthy, maybe, but certainly not surprising.- 980 replies

Can you please explain why? You obviously have a reason for voting on the first person who voted. If you could explain it (maybe a past experience, or a trend you've noticed?), that would be really helpful for future analysis.- 980 replies

Long Game 28: The Awakening at the House on the Hill
Arraenae replied to Wyrmhero's topic in Sanderson Elimination
I'm a little suspicious of Jondesu for phrasing and tone. In a PM, he asked if I had any ways to "actually" find a traitor. The word "actually" pings me off. It doesn't sound like something a villager would say. Also, N1, Jondesu said this, which feels off to me: I already posted why that felt weird to me right below, but I'll repeat it again. It seems weird for a villager to be able to conclusively say that lynch "didn't really lead ourselves to an elim." True, Phatt, the player who got lynched, was a villager, but how is a villager, in this case Jondesu, supposed to know that no suspicion landed on an elim during the lynch disscussion, no elim was trying to push the lynch a certain way, etc? The only way for a player to know that is to be able to see into the future, or not be a villager.- 980 replies

Long Game 28: The Awakening at the House on the Hill
Arraenae replied to Wyrmhero's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Jondesu, the thing is that most games don't have a D1 discussion that leads to an eliminator being caught immediately. It happened in MR17, but that was a lucky catch for the villagers. D1 discussion can and often does lead to an eliminator, but not always immediately. It becomes more useful as time passes, because we will have more information to fill out the picture later. It's entirely possible that several Days from now we'll look back, see something weird, and then catch an eliminator. Can you see into the future, Jondesu? Do you have knowledge that the village does not? I don't see any other situation where you can immediately and factually declare that the D1 discussion is useless less than three hours after D1 ends.- 980 replies

Thanks Unodus. It's much easier to ask someone where their posts are than to hunt them down myself. Hael, I apologize for not contributing more -- life conspired to keep me away from SE and I'm not much of a strategy person, so I'm not much help when we're deciding whether to lynch or not lynch, or explore or not explore. Once it's D2, I'll probably have much more to analyze and have a lot more time to do it. (Yay for Thanksgiving!)- 980 replies

Long Game 28: The Awakening at the House on the Hill
Arraenae replied to Wyrmhero's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Artie followed the straw man out the door and into the depths of the house. He huffed as he struggled to keep up, and had to struggle to stay within eyesight of the straw man. Artie ran through a kitchen, a living room, an indoor greenhouse, a dining room, and other rooms that seemed to lead only to more rooms. A stool appeared in Artie’s path as if Awakened, and he leapt over it with a grunt. A curtain caught his foot, but he just shook it off. Then, a door slammed into his face and Artie barely avoided crashing into it. “You got me this time, kid,” Artie managed to gasp out. “This time. I’ll find ya, and expose your prank to everybody on this side of Hallandren. Ya can’t stop me.” The other doors to the room slammed shut in unison. Artie began to doubt that he could take on this kid without outside help. They seemed like a powerful Awakener, if what he had seen so far was any indication of their skill. And there might be more accomplices, perhaps buried in the group of potential buyers. Still, Artie refused to let his doubts show in his face. It was too late to back down now. “A challenge, eh? I haven’t had one of those in a while. I admire your spunk, kid. But you’re only delaying the inevitable.” Inside the pack, the Snake woke up. It flicked its tongue into the air and hissed appreciatively. Uncertainty and a bit of fear, its favorite combinations. Oh yes, this was shaping up to be a good trip already.- 980 replies

Long Game 28: The Awakening at the House on the Hill
Arraenae replied to Wyrmhero's topic in Sanderson Elimination
@phattemer, are you here? Because I'm going to plop a vote on you if you don't respond within four hours. As far as the lynch or not to lynch question goes, more information is always better. Easier to catch an eliminator that way. For all we know, someone will state suspicion of someone D1 and then D5 completely change their tune, and we'll know that they aren't being consistent. Then, we'll have another person to interrogate. If we have the threat of a lynch For that matter, until we catch an eliminator and/or we have a normal-sized eliminator team, I'm going to keep on exploring. It's much easier to catch five people among thirty-something rather than two. We can't win until we destroy the House and kill all the traitors, and we can't destroy the House until we kill at least one traitor. As long as the House is still alive, people can be converted.- 980 replies
