  1. She was really into him. She kept suggesting that we needed to...you know. It was so funny!
  2. Because I know some of you are curious (and jealous) here's a brief report of last night's joviality and mischief. We met at Powell's bookstore, the best bookstore in Portland, had dinner at P.F Chang's and returned to Powell's for more browsing and chit chat. The end. Not enough details for you? Ok, well there was this middle-aged woman in the bar that kept leaning over to me and saying "Don't you think he's irresistible? I do." Apparently she digs guys with Hemalurgic spikes. Go fig. When I wasn't beating back the cougar I was discovering that every topic eventually leads back to the Mistborn RPG and that Tacomancy is really cool.
  3. Don't stop on our account. We'd love to hear what else you have to say.
  4. Nah, it's all my doing. November is when I came back.
  5. I gotta agree with everyone. Starting at book 12 would be like jumping into the fifth season of Lost.
  6. Don't let Chaos intimidate you. Trust me on this one.
  7. Oh my gosh! I knew your name sounded familiar but it didn't click until I saw your FB pic. Small world doesn't even to begin to cover how blown my mind is right now.
  8. Yeah. Entering Hoid in Suvudu would be like unleashing Chuck Norris.
  9. Thursday works. Where do you want to meet? *giggle* We could meet at the downtown Powell's at the sci-fi post, right by Brandon's signature. It's irresistibly appropriate.
  10. You know, that does explain the goatee he had over the summer. Perhaps it was Hoid at those conventions and not Brandon?
  11. I hope we're on to something. Otherwise we'll all feel really silly. I'm not sure I support the theory that Hoid is trying to recreate Adonalsium. I agree that it's a distinct possibility and that its reformation would do more harm than good since each world's identity, economy and in some cases their political structure have become so closely tied to their shard(s).
  12. Sweet! Evenings work best for me. I work until 6 which would then put me in Portland around 7 and I'm free most nights this week. The only night I'm not is Wednesday because of Brian Herbert's book signing at the Cedar Hills Powell's. Although if that's your best night we could meet at Powell's and hang out after the signing.
  13. I like the Hoid= Batman postulation. Hoid is very good at walking that fine line between good and evil (which is why we're having this discussion in the first place). It makes his motivations so hard to guess because it could easily go either way Personally, I've always seen him as a parent of sorts. He's not above lying to a child in order to get them to step out of their comfort zone and try something new. "Eat your vegetables so you can burn pewter" or something like that.
  14. That possibility occurred to me as well. I'd come up with a supportive hypothesis but my brain hasn't fully recovered from my New Year's celebrations.
  15. Joe, that is freaking fantastic!
  16. Holy Frak! You guys are Oregonians too? I live in Salem but I spend a lot of time in the Portland area. We should hang out sometime.
  17. It could also mean that instead of each world only having access to the power of the local shard(s), they would then have access to all of them. That still doesn't prove Hoid is a villain, but it doesn't disprove it either since someone well acquainted with each of the shards (like Hoid) could become the ultimate power in the Cosmere.
  18. Like everyone else, my tweets are few and far between. When I do tweet it's either something ridiculous or a random comment directed at Brandon, Mary, Howard or Scalzi. I'm @KimMainord if you want to add me.
  19. I like it. I never thought I'd say this, but I do miss the asinine titles. I liked being a (insert adjective) gravedigger but the "powers of 16" sounds even better. There definitely needs to be an insanely high reputation requirement for the highest level just for Chaos. We wouldn't want him to get bored, after all.
  20. Taco, taco, taco. Sorry, had to have a Gir moment there. Welcome Commander.
  21. I loved Mary's Pikachu impression. It got stuck in my head. I mentioned it to her a few days later and she, of course, goes right into the impression. It's so firmly implanted in my brain that I'm afraid I'll randomly start saying "Pika...Pika".
  22. It didn't appear to be, but the Librarians might have cleverly covered it with a wood facade. I didn't think to check (a five hour drive will do that to you...or maybe it was something in the cookies...hmm). However, there was a really sweet carved chair that they brought out for Brandon to sit on during the signing. It was very throne-like.
  23. Sadly, only one.
  24. I think they should include as part of the leather bound edition (assuming that they keep with tradition) a poster or a pull-out insert reproduction of Sweet's concept sketch.
  25. If the camera had panned 90 degrees to the left you would've seen me. If it had panned down, you would've seen the back of Peter Orullian's head. It was a very cool event. Although, it was a little weird being in a church. I felt like I should be offering up a prayer to Harmony, or somebody.
