  1. You'll notice that this game, I'm not really doing my best work. I screwed up early on and I can't seem to get myself back on track. I'm more focused on the University and my RPs, which are saving me a ton of money. Besides, it's hard to really care too much when you don't have anything to do for half the game (I'm talking about being a non-specialist during the planning and night phase). If you guys want me to stop, then I'd be willing to blindly follow a majority consensus vote-wise. It would take a lot of tedious choice off of my shoulders.
  2. You have a point. Hellscythe Clanky. Why have you said, "let's not kill hellscythe, we need to talk about more and then not retract your vote from HS? And what if you are trying to protect Hellscythe from a lynch because they are your teammate . . . eliminator teammate.
  3. How? Why? What?
  4. I'm that guy. Honestly, I don't know who I would be. What do you guys think?
  5. Perfect! Thank you. Those stats are now just going to be flavour stats because Acaelus doesn't believe that the skindancers exist right now. He is going to be trying to persuade the other students that the skindancers aren't a threat even if they are real. So really it's only the first stat that means anything, so please everyone, just treat the stats like poster in the door to the university put up by an anonymous student. Those percentages don't mean anything. Thank you Clanky, apparently I just needed to do some math. Logic and reasoning, not my strongest suit it seems.
  6. As the Library calmed on that day, Acaelus was reading about the theologies of mythological races. It was quite fascinating, really. So many different species and so many different beliefs. Did some believe one thing while others of that same race believed another? Did all races believe in one thing? Did they even believe in anything, or were they just mindless animals trying to survive? So much could be discovered about a species' philosophy and mind-set, their entire way of life, simply by examining their traditions and religious beliefs. Unfortunately, that information was extremely rare for any race worth studying. Only a few texts on the subject were written. The fact that Humans were so superstitious was a large advantage considering that there are rumors of murder running around the school. Students were blaming the Skincrawlers with every breath. People were taking out books on them whenever they could, so Acaelus just decided to take one that a student was returning to the Library. The Compendium of knowledge on the Skindancers as requested by Callum Calverion and the Academia was quite informative on the subject. The Skincrawlers have no definable sense of morals other than an extreme sense of racism. They strive to eradicate anything that is not another Skincrawler. Their uncanny ability to take on the appearance of any human makes it surprisingly skilled at infiltrating any organization and killing it's inhabitants. Although they are skilled at eliminating their targets, they seem to have trouble reproducing. It is unknown whether or not it is due to the male:female ration in their species, or simply just because that is a biological trait of theirs. In either case, their numbers are small and they must complete their goal stealthily, not with brute force. Acaelus would have to create a formal racial profile for the Skincrawlers, but for now, he had other matters on his mind. Well, if the University students are so fascinated by the Skincrawlers, I will have to address them. He would have to show them that the chances of Skincrawlers being withing their midst isn't as probable as they think. With the amount of time he had, he could probably even separate his research by social class. Given the ratios of the social classes, he could simplify it so that the entire University would be represented by 24 different people, categorized by the 5 social classes. After, he would leave his findings in the courtyard for all the students to see. In other words, I am going to find the probabilities of each person in a single social class being a Skincrawler (SC) if distributed by an RNG. First off, the entire University Population (UP). First problem is finding out how many Skincrawlers there are. I think that the two most probable possibilities are 5 & 6. 6 Skincrawlers is 25% of the UP while 5 is ~21%. The very least would be 4 Eliminators, but I doubt that is the case. With the amount of Players in this game as well as the complexity and the difficulty of killing, I am thinking that 6 is more likely. The entire population is comprised of 24 people. The probability of any one given person being a SC depends on the number of SC. If there is 6 SC, the probability is 25% If there is 5 SC, the probability is 20.83% If there is 4 SC, the probability is 16.67% Now we get down to the Social classes. This gets a lot more complicated as I have to take into account the rest of the University. I will take the number of people in that social class (represented by the # of players in the social class divided by the total # of players) and I will then multiply it by the ratio of people to SC's (the above percentages). The Vintish Noblemen have 3 players. 3/24 = 12.5% * 25% or 0.125 * 0.25 = 3.125% or 0.03125 3/24 = 12.5% * 21% or 0.125 * 0.21 = 2.625% or 0.02625 3/24 = 12.5% * 17% or 0.125 * 0.17 = 2.125% or 0.02125 Both Aturan Noblemen and Yllish Commoners have 6 Players 6/24 = 25% * 25% or 0.25 * 0.25 = 6.25% or 0.0625 6/24 = 25% * 21% or 0.25 * 0.21 = 5.25% or 0.0525 6/24 = 25% * 17% or 0.25 * 0.27 = 4.25% or 0.0425 Cealdish Commoners have 7 players. 7/24 = 29% * 25% or 0.29 * 0.25 = 7.25% or 0.0725 7/24 = 29% * 21% or 0.29 * 0.21 = 6.09% or 0.0609 7/24 = 29% * 17% or 0.29 * 0.17 = 4.93% or 0.0493 Edema Ruh's have 2 players. 2/24 = 8.3% * 25% or 0.083 * 0.25 = 2.075% or 0.02075 2/24 = 8.3% * 21% or 0.083 * 0.21 = 1.743% or 0.01743 2/24 = 8.3% * 17% or 0.083 * 0.17 = 1.411% or 0.01411 I know that these numbers look really small, but they most likely are done properly. If anyone can do better than I did, then please do so.
  7. When Acaelus heard a person shouting, he was drawn into the real world enough to notice that he was being shaken. He didn't want to go back. He was in the middle of contemplating the current meteorological environments and their coinciding effects on the political environment of the surrounding nations. Eventually, the weight of social activity forced him back down to the earth. Who was calling him? Why were they even trying to get his attention? Was there an emergency in the University? There probably wasn't but it might be worth investigating. Maybe there was a new weather phenomenon that could shed some more light on his studies. "What is going on? Marcos? What is it?" The man looking back at him seemed concerned. Maybe he wasn't used to Acaelus' tendencies yet. Then again, maybe he had never truly met Acaelus before. Acaelus had definitely noticed Marcos before, but he didn't think that he had introduced himself to the man. The conversation they had before was reputedly short. Maybe Acaelus had better introduce himself again. "Marcos are you alright? I'm Acaelus. We talked earlier, but maybe you just can't recall me. What do you need?" Acaelus still didn't fully trust this man, but he didn't have any reason to be outright rude to him yet. Besides, it was turning out that Marcos was just a front runner in a trend that was quickly spreading throughout the University. Not even the Teachers were immune. Some of them were just slightly hesitant tolet Acaelus leave at the beginning of the day when he collected his daily work. Nothing he could do about it now though. All he could do was continue studying and reading.
  8. The Library at the University is a great place to be for most of the day, the problem is when most of the other students arrive right after their classes. Acaelus knew his teachers fairly well, meaning they knew he would do all of his work. He would arrive to class at the beginning of the day, collect the work he needed to complete, and take the rest of the day to study. Normally, that would mean heading back to his room to complete his work, then going to the library to read and study. When the other students arrived, he would huddle himself in the corner, surrounded by his books and leaning back in his padded chair. The librarians knew him, so he could claim whatever chair he wanted, but still he stuck with the one in his corner. Classes must have been over for the day, since everyone was migrating to the library. Acaelus brought his books closer to himself, trying to leave room for the rest of the students, as well as saving his books from being stepped on and abused. Acaelus knew the importance of good books. They were his true friends. Yes, he knew people in the real world, but the people in the epic fantasies, the romance novels, the crime stories, he felt as if he knew them personally. He could let himself open to them, pouring his emotions onto them. Even the cold hard facts in textbooks and scientific documentation served their purpose. They kept him logical and within reason. Normally, people left him alone, knowing that he wasn't going to be invested in anything but his books. Not even the University security could get his full attention when he was invested in a book. Today though, he noticed that many of the students were coming close to his chair and just standing there, as if expecting something to happen. Some of them even blatantly stared at him. What was happening at the University? People were distrusting and paranoid. He used to have so much privacy, but now the school was crawling with people. Maybe he would just become nocturnal. That way he could stay in the comfort of the darkness and the night. Unfortunately, that is also when the mercenaries and street roughs are out. That shouldn't be a problem if he just stayed in his room and read. Oh, but of course, the library wouldn't be open. Not an option then. Acaelus wasn't going to abandon his library, even if it was crowded lately. Eventually it would calm down. Besides, where else would he get his books. He couldn't buy them, he couldn't afford that. He couldn't store the books due to the space constraints. He couldn't even borrow them since he didn't have anyone to borrow from. No. He couldn't leave the Library. He needed to stay at the University. It was his entire life at this point. He didn't care if he got a reputation. Society cared about those types of things too much. Social class and popularity shouldn't be as important as they are. However, Meritocracies were too idealistic. Nobody could be trusted to keep to their moral compass let alone . . .
  9. Hey guys, what happened to this?
  10. Acaelus Starfire wasn't the most socially aware student in the university. What he was aware of was the interactions between the mundane sciences and the arcane ones. Physics and mathematics, biology, chemistry, geology, philosophy, astronomy, volcanology, deceptology, all of them at work in the world, all intertwined ad connected. It was the same with magic. Artificery, alchemy, sympathetic readings, naming, every one of them, linked to one another. It seemed that nobody but him believed that the two different ranges could be linked as well. But they could. Psychology and naming were more intertwined than anybody else realized. Physics and alchemy, biology and alchemy, etymology and sympathy, all were related. His musings were interrupted by a disturbance in the library. It seemed the Reader was hiding from a stranger under a desk. After the first few incidents, he had become acclimated to the oddities of the Reader. He liked the man. The Reader was the only one who shared his avid study habits and apparent familiarity with the library. Unfortunately, the Reader seemed only to be doing it in the pursuit of knowledge. He didn't understand the brilliance of books, their ability to tell all sorts of information, to create whole worlds in front of your eyes. watching the Reader for a few more moments, Acaelus simply shook his head and started to turn back to his books. His books were comforting, they would take him where he needed to go. But something drew his attention back to the stranger. He was hostile. Why was he hostile? Acaelus had never seen this man before, and yet he was so angry. Was it something to do with the alleged death that the librarians so like to talk about? Did this man blame him? Acaelus tried to turn back to his beloved books, but something about the situation made him uneasy. He couldn't focus on mythological lore from five centuries ago, being told by Illarkindam Gildibad. The ancient author was brilliant, his works nearly revered by the scholars of these days. Acaelus had read the book twice now, but his third read through had brought some interesting possibilities to his mind. But right now, he had to find out what was happening with the stranger glowering at him. Then Acaelus remembered his observations of Marcos Mayweather. The boy had been down to the library a few times, and seemed to know the value of study quite well. Unfortunately, the man seemed almost afraid of the arcane arts. Pity, the man was quite intelligent. But what Acaelus remembered the most was his peculiar air of mistrust. He was seeing things in the shadows as he walked. He assumed what he should not from small conversations, always coming back to the supposed murder in the school. He never let anything be. Always looking for a way to jump at the shadows. Somehow, this man who was accusing him through looks alone was just what Marcos was looking for. A lead to a fictional situation.
