  1. I'd love to see a bronze compounder right after the Final Ascension. They could be like, working for Spook and Ham and them, and then they could be torn between helping make the new world and protecting their family or something. And they could be called 'The Sentinel'. It'll be great.
  2. The hallway was nearly empty as Acaelus and Marcos strolled through it. The two students had grown close over the last weeks. Acaelus practically clung to Marcos for the first little bit, but gradually began to practice what others would call normal behavior. After a while, Acaelus began to trust Marcos, something that he hadn't done for a long time. He hadn't been able to since his childhood. He normally just did everything he needed to by himself. Marcos was slowly drawing Acaelus out of the Library as well. Less and less was he spending hours on end reading and refining the indentation on his chair. Instead, he was walking, conversing and cajoling with Marcos and a few others that had become acquaintances. When Marcos was doing class, Acaelus would return to his sanctuary in the library, completing the work he had to do for his classes. Acaelus looked over to his friend. "Hey Marcos, do you think that the Skindancers are real? More and more I keep hearing about how they are making people crazy and sending them to the crockery. I've even heard that some of the students are collaborating to find them. Even the argument I had with the Mind of Akasha a while back was based around the skindancers. He was completely convinced that he had to purge the university of the monstrosities. He was berating me for sitting in the library all day while the university was being overrun. What do you think? Do you believe in them?"
  3. Alright, I think I have a plan. Bridge Boy. Earlier today, BB PMed me and told me one of the fields that he has been studying in. Linguistics. He claims to be of the second elevation and to have the linguistics analysis ability. I believe that this ability is too good to give up, but also dangerous to have around if the analyst is a skindancer. Here is my plan. Wonko, PM BB with the identity of your analyst and have your analyst clear (or not) BB. BB, you clear (or not) Wonko's analyst. That way, we can start clearing people twice as fast. To keep the skindancers from killing either one of them, Wonko and BB keep your analyst secret. I am in contact with a physicker who claims to be of the first elevation. They can protect BB from sabotage this cycle, but they can only do it every second round. What I ask is that any and all other physickers contact me so that I can organize protection for the analysts. If anyone doesn't trust me enough to let me organize protection, then have the analysts scan me after they scan each other. Muffin, what makes you so certain that Wonko isn't a skindancer?
  4. "So, what's the problem here?" Oh no. He hadn't wanted Marcos to see him arguing. Over the last month, Acaelus had grown fairly comfortable with him. Of course, he still had his insecurities, but they had declined through social interaction with someone who seemed to like him. Acaelus could now confidently hold a conversation for over two minutes. Like he was doing right now. Except more friendly. This situation was a bit more hostile than the rest he had experienced. "Marcos, you know how I hate being uninformed right? I spend my days in the library reading and researching. I believe that knowledge and logic are the only ways to reach reasonable conclusions. Well I was just talking to the Mind of Akasha, who managed to wedge himself into a conversation where I had to trust his facts blindly. After a comment on belief without a firm base, he started insulting me, called me out for staying in the library all the time." Acaelus turned to the Mind of Akasha, voice gaining a hostility it had never shown before. "And for the record, my life sucked before I came here. I won't have you come up to me and make it worse. This university is the only place that I have found that I can escape my nightmare of a life. That library where I spend my days, it's the best place to forget. Don't you dare rob me of all that I have done to make myself happy for once." With that, Acaelus turned and stalked off down the hall. Alright, there you go Mark. Do with it what you will. Or you could take it BB. Whichever. Wow, I had no idea that writing angry rants could actually make you angry. I wrote that in like four minutes while the rest took me almost half an hour. Also, I am not a skindancer.
  5. I just don't like the sound of that last sentence. I object to blind following. This game isn't about just trusting someone because they asked you to. It's about evidence, elimination, logical processes and critical analysis. Besides, that response was pretty defensive if you ask me. No to mention trying to place suspicion on me and attempting to blow this out of proportion. It seems like you are trying to make this a full blown feud.
  6. There are only a few skilled tautologists in this group since most of them are not proficient with them.
  7. Shoot. My calculations are off. I didn't see Lopen on the list when I looked the first time. There are actually five people not four. If I put an inactive on the mission, then will the eliminator sabotage on the mission be absorbed by them? So no Lopen, I haven't. But for good reasons. I was moving from one classroom to another. Then, when I went back to check the names of the people I was putting on a mission, I noticed that there was one more than expected.
  8. Wooo! Go us! So who do you guys think I should send on the mission? All four of us? Or none of us? All of us? yeah probably. That'll mean that one of us is killed. If I send none of us, then I will die and another person will die, making the game tie. After that, All the eliminator has to do is wait until he can sabotage the next mission and the remaining player will die. All of us then!
  9. Acaelus walked into the Library alone. He and Marcos had decided to split up, Acaelus going to the Library and Marcos going to the reception desk and looking through the halls. They were going to meet back up outside if they found anything. It was nerve-racking leaving his new friend. It had been so long since Aldon had . . . well, it had been a long time since Acaelus had a true friend. He couldn't tell if he was making a good impression or not. If he had been obnoxious the entire time, then what if Marcos just didn't come back. He would've failed just making a friend. Something that he had wanted for so long. At first glance, the library seemed devoid of life, even to Acaelus. Sev wasn't visible anywhere and it was only Julia who was on staff at the time. She was still archiving the old school records. Sometimes Acaelus had volunteered to do that, working at the library in his off time. That seemed like a long time ago. He hadn't had time in a long while, always conducting studies and experiments. Julia was one of the librarians who had shown him around the first time he visited the library wanting to know where everything was. Walking up to Julia, Acaelus cleared his throat and caught her attention. "Hey Julia, have you seen a student named Sev come in here recently? I am trying to find him so that I can return his notebook." "Acaelus, you know that we don't normally ask the names of students who come in here. Do you have his description?" "No, unfortunately I don't. All I have is his name. He was staying at the Horse and Four, so he must be somewhat wealthy. Other than that, I have no idea how to describe him." "Sorry then, I can't help you. I have been archiving these for a good long while, so I might have missed him. Go have a look around through the stacks." "Thanks for the help Julia. I appreciate it." "Anytime." So Acaelus started walking through the rows of shelves. He passed over one hundred rows before he found someone sitting on the floor, back to the wall. He had his head in his hands and wasn't moving. He looked like the right type of person to be staying at the Horse and Four. Acaelus didn't quite know how to approach this man. He might be Sev, but he could also be just a random person going through a hard time. Acaelus walked tentatively over to the man on the floor. "Ummm . . . sorry to intrude, but are you by any chance Sev?" The man looked up, eyes blurry but still clear of tears. Slowly, he nodded. "Please follow me. A friend of mine found your notebook and he should be waiting out in the courtyard."
  10. A new friend! Oh how good it is to meet another role smith! It is good to know that I am not the only one who is reminded of mathematics when confronted by an altered alcoholic beverage.
  11. "Hmmm... That was interesting, wasn't it, Acaelus? Fiends, I have a few here. As for friends though, they're the harder kind of fiends to acquire. So far, I haven't had much success. So, Dragonfire Chronicles, eh? I bet it's interesting." Marcos was showing interest in his studies? That must be a good sign. This was going so much better than Acaelus had expected. Plus, Marcos hadn't made many friends either. That probably meant that either Marcos was desperate at this point, or they were similar and could bond easily. "Say, would you accompany me? I need to go give this fallen book to a nobleman, and I'd appreciate someone there to help me. I get a bad feeling he's going to lose his head..." If he needed help, then Acaelus was more than willing. He had spent most of his time in his beloved library, but his current excursion into the wilderness of friendship was giving him confidence that he hadn't had for so long. It was a bittersweet moment for him. He loved the sensation of being a part of somebody's world other than an author's. But he couldn't help thinking of that one childhood memory that haunted him. Normally, it was tucked away in a corner, covered in the problems of science and adventure, but talking with someone as a friend was bringing those memories back to the forefront of his mind. But he couldn't let the past ruin his future. He would have to make new memories here at the University. He would cover the past with the present. He would have to forge a new way of life. It was a scary prospect, but seeing the smile on Marcos' face gave him an odd sense of courage. These were unfamiliar waters, yet they were thrilling. Comfort was useful in many ways, but humanity didn't valorise use as much as it did relationships. "Of course, if you need anything, just ask. I'm always available to help out." Grabbing a bookmark from the ground beside his chair and placed it in his book. He gathered the rest of his books in his arms and stood up. "Who exactly does the book belong to?"
