There isn't really much to do but hope, really. Personally I think that the majority of people who read thousand page epics for fun are going to be good intelligent people. Look at the teenage section of this community. We're normally categorized as immature, but you, Winter, Lark, Mail-mi, and some I've likely forgotten are good mature people. As a rule, the less kind section of society probably doesn't read Sandersonesque epics for fun. Hopefully the influx of new fans will just make this site even better.

I have, according to the internet, the same personality type as The Master, Emperor Palpatine, and every stereotypical villain ever. You have the personality of Einstein. It just depends where you look.

Really? I'm fighting the urge to give an evil laugh right now. I have same personality type as Brandon.

Sounds interesting to me. I'm not sure how often I could do it, though.

I agree, my friend's father is a police officer, and I'm sure that she has experienced much of the same negative emotion towards officers. I hate that we have started demonizing a whole group for the actions of a tiny minority. Yes, there are racist police officers, but there are racists in pretty much every other career too. Sorry for the rant, but I am just tired of all the demonizing we do in the states sometimes.

If I could get eight upvotes for doing nothing, I would swiftly surpass Kobold. Seriously, that's impressive Lark.

It's not good. You already know about the car thing, so she only goes to places within walking or cycling distance after her PTSD-triggering accident and tries to stay off of major roads. I'm thinking that she actually managed to contain her Rending, but lost control a couple of weeks later trying to protect her friends from a gang of epics. She managed to drive the epics of, but was corrupted and killed her friends and family family while still in corrupted state. After this she fled to Corvallis. I'm also going to change her age to 39 because it makes her backstory fit the timeline we have. So, yeah here's is depressing. :(

Okay. I want to give Happy!Funtimes a hug from the little bit that Quota gave me of her backstory, and I'm sure that reading it in full would make me want to give her a roomful of pugs. Making characters who need an emotionally scarring backstory makes it hard not to feel sympathy. Except for Nighthound, who is still a slontze despite his backstory, and Death wish who is more of a slontze with his.

So I con retain hope for...Blueberry McMuffin I guess... it doesn't quite roll off the tongue in the same way Blueberry Muffin does. Also, if you don't mind telling, how much of Funtimes's insanity is an act?

Nice Nathan post, Twi. If AlGaze wasn't already the most amazing ship in the history of amazing amazingness(channeling my inner Funtimes), then I'd be temptress to suggest a serious, well as serious as HatWards, ship for Blueberry Muffin.

Compliment the person above you!

You do Venturing, run Cross Country, and have a picture of Ten as your image thing. From the posts I have read, you're funny and have contributed greatly to keeping this thread running. *Whoever gets on here next, you can just skip me, since I haven't really been here long enough to know. -
Along with killing Nighthound, hitting Deathwish with blunt instruments and drowning Timeport.

Accidental down vote! I'm sorry. I think I've read something about exposure therapy for PTSD recently.

You Know You're a Sanderfan When...
Mashadar Mistborn replied to Shardbearer's topic in General Brandon Discussion
When you go on a run early in the morning, since it is foggy, pretend to be a mistborn. Pewter really would be helpful in cross country. -
It might be a while. My computer does not have Flash.

Seeing as the discussion has become somewhat ponyish, I guess this is as good a time as any to ask if I should make a Gelliton pony, and if so, how in the name of Stormaggedon, Dark Lord of all, to make said pony.

If this was the first time he did something chullish, I'd agree, but he's been distracting and immature for all of my lessons. I consider myself a very patient person, but he has been just a little too much of a chill for any more chances. If it were just on one religious topic I'd have some sympathy, but he just isn't mature. Gak, I hate confrontation.

So I teach mythology for my school's JCL chapter. There is one kid who I am so close to kicking out of the club. To tell the truth, I'll probably bring it up to my co-president tomorrow. Anyway, I mentioned that Percy Jackson is not a good source for mythology and he said "so it's like the Book of Mormon for mythology." There was a Mormon in the storming room. I want him out! Why can't people be accepting?

Happy Birthday, Mailliw.

I wouldn't object to a sharder moving to Nashville.

[Spoilers of Self] Scadrial and the greater Cosmere
Mashadar Mistborn replied to FirstSelector's topic in Cosmere Discussion
I pointed this out in the reactions page, but if Shards can affect one another's intents(Evidence: Odium entering into a deal that traps him on Roshar seems to be influenced by Honor's intent), then Odium may have corrupted Bavadin's intent towards hatred-fed desire for autonomy. Brandon has said that he likes Bavadin, he also said something in the same answer about how Shards mess with the holder and it was hard to separate Bavadin from his Shard. Seeing as Brandon has commented that he would not want to be in the same room as Kelsier, who is at least benevolent, I don't think that he'd like someone as cruel as Bavadin appears in this book. We also know that there is a degree of freedom to the interpretation of a Shard's intent, and a good person wouldn't have interpreted Autonomy in this manner. If Shards can corrupt other, then it would be tactically sound for Odium to set a Shard to oppose Harmony by corrupting the Shard's intent with hatred. The red dots on "trellium" are not in a color scheme like those of even the god metals, which have uniform color ( this makes sense for a metal) but if Odium, who is associated with red has corrupted Autonomy, then this corruption could be evident in the seeming corrosion of his metal. I hope this was semi-coherent. -
[Spoilers] Shadows of Self Full Book Reactions
Mashadar Mistborn replied to Chaos's topic in Mistborn
I'm going to make a rather weak theory here. If the theory that Shards can act upon one another's intents is true, then Odium, fearing Harmony, might have corrupted another shards influence, as shown by the red spots on the metal. I'm going to call that Shard Freedom for now because a corrupted version of freedom seems to align with the intents of the followers of Trell shown in the books. Both Miles and Paalm show a twisted desire for freedom.- 175 replies

Shadows of Self is #256(16*16) in the Kindle Store at the moment. Does this amuse anyone else?

Conversation between myself and my brother: Me: I want to cry for Gelliton, her story is so sad. Him: Couldn't you have made it happier? Me: That isn't how epics work, they can't be saccharine. Well there is one called Saccharine, but her story isn't saccharine. Anyway, they can't be just happy funtimes, well except for Doctor Funtimes, but her life still isn't great by any measure. Him: Right... *backs away slowly*. Aside from that last line, it is both true and accidental.
