  1. I think this is what made me really enjoy Shallan during this book. Their walk through chasams and the way they played off of one another really felt very natural to me. And *just* when I was getting to the point where Kal was becoming a bit unbearable Shallan gives him the dose of reality he needed. I thought that was very well done. In fact, I think Brandon did a great about face here. In book 1 I clearly saw Kaladin as an archetypal hero and I loved him for that fact alone. Shallan was sort of boring and plain jain compared to Kaladin. Then in book 2 we get this turnaround where we see Shallan coming into her own and learning about her powers and Kaladin moping around and I thought to myself, "Well, maybe I was wrong. Maybe Shallan was the hero all along." And then it turns out that they're both heros but in such different ways. I just loved it.
  2. In my own head canon, it's a tineye who first invents a silencer.
  3. Hahaha. It wasn't his fault - though he didn't look at all like Richard (to me, at least). I thought he did a good enough job. I blame Raimi. Yes, Oliver Platt is the only one I'd be sad not to see in the role.
  4. Immortal, I really like James Spader as Breeze, though in my mind I always pictured him as similar to Oliver Platt. I also LOVE the idea of Jay Baruchel as Spook. That just clicked for me. For Dox, I can see Craig Horner. Not sure about anyone else, though!

    Bloody Tan

Okay, so I just re-read the passage and Wax clears anxiety from his mind so that he doesn't shake. What if Bloody Tan wasn't a Rioter, he was a Soother? He dampened everything but Wax's confidence and then used that against him? Wax only thoughtthat he could make the shot, so in reality it wasn't as impressive a move by Tan as we're led to believe (since Wax is the narrator of the chapter).
  6. Hi there! I'm new here (I've lurked on an off for a bit), but had to finally break my silence after devouring Alloy of Law over the weekend. A little about me - I'm 27 years old, a big gamer (RPGs mostly), a big fan of fantasy/sci-fi novels, and ridiculously obsessed with my dog! I just got married this year and am finishing up my masters degree. Thanks for having me!

    Bloody Tan

Okay... what if Bloody Tan was Twinborn - Tineye & Iron Ferring. He can see the slightest movement of Wax's trigger finger and then move quickly enough to get Lessie into place? It's possible he was wearing ear plugs and could still hear well enough to carry on a conversation. Especially if he flared his tin a lot (ala Spook). This is kind of fun!

    Bloody Tan

Hi all! I feel silly, because I registered just to reply to this, but here's a theory. ...what if Bloody Tan was a Tineye? That would (theoretically) give him the sight needed to see when Wax pulled the trigger, moving at the same instant as him (and not at the sound of the gunshot). What do you think?
