Oh my god I see it now! Thank you, the chasm line on the map needs to be much higher then. Sorry for being an idiot
-
Someone from a previous thread put it up like this with the chasm line inside Elantris which makes so much more sense but i don't think it's correct anymore http://www.17thshard.com/forum/topic/1407-aons-spoiler/ The map is obviously inaccurate and I can't wait for the 10th anniversary edition to finally sort this out with an accurate map because if Kae is the circle on the bottom it does not fit the map since Kae is to the right of Elantris
-
Okay, looking at the map in the book though if Kae is on the bottom then the chasm line is to the left and not to the right
-
That makes so much sense now! Thank you so much! So the chasm line is on the bottom left with the dot on the bottom right being Kae.

Sorry about asking the question in three threads. I didn't think anyone would reply since all of the threads are quite old and haven't been updated in a while. So the chasm line connects the middle and the bottom circle of Aon Rao where Elantris and Kae are, surely the map is wrong then since I have to turn it sideways to put Kae at the bottom of the page and the chasm line at the side and in between of Elantris and Kae. Thank you for your help
-
So looking at Aon Rao, the bottom circle is Kae and Elantris is still the square in the middle?

Hey, I'm new to Brandon Sanderson and have just finished reading Elantris (late to the party I know). After finishing I also realised that the line Raoden drew in Kae does not match the map of where the chasm actually is. Is it definitely confirmed now that Brandon described it wrong and it should be underneath the square shape south of Elantris? Did Brandon want the chasm line in Kae but the guy who drew the map got it wrong or did Brandon describe it wrong and should he have gone with the map instead? Sorry if this problem has already been fully cleared up, I just need to get my head around this inconsistency.

Hey, I'm new to Brandon Sanderson and have just finished reading Elantris (late to the party I know). So towards the end of the book Raoden drew a line in Kae to free the Dor after realising the whole map of Elantris and the surrounding areas are in the shape of Aon Rao (the spirit Aon) and he needed to add the chasm line to complete picture. The problem is that Raoden drew the line in Kae and does not match the map of where the chasm actually is. I know this has been in previous forums and it is quite an old confusion but since this conversation started to get on to geography I just wanted to ask if it is definitely confirmed now that Brandon described it wrong towards the end of the book and the chasm line should really be underneath the square shape south of Elantris? Did Brandon want the chasm line in Kae but the guy who drew the map got it wrong or did Brandon describe it wrong and should he have gone with the map version of the chasm instead? Sorry if this problem has already been fully cleared up, I just need to get my head around this inconsistency.

where exactly is the chasm line?

So The Set take up the contract of House Tekiel and now are getting paid by the people who payed Tekiel for their shipments. So it doesn't matter that Tekiel were transporting stolen goods because once The Set got the contracts and Miles was caught they could return everything and take control of the whole institution, buying the shares really cheaply. What I still don't understand is the part where Edward explains why the Ladrian house was so destitute. Where did the house finances go to?? Thanks so much for helping me and sorry about asking more questions...

So I know I'm really late on this and this will probably not get a response since my love for Brandon Sanderson is fairly recent. I am newcomer to Brandon Sanderson also and in the past month have read the Mistborn trilogy and the Reckoners series. I plan to read Warbreaker next and have just finished Alloy of Law (I can't wait for Shadows of Self). I absolutely loved following Wax and Wayne's story in Alloy of Law but I just have one (probably very stupid) question that I feel wasn't given enough attention in the epilogue. Could someone explain more about th insurance fraud thing with Edward Ladrian and the Set. What exactly was it for? Did The Set take up the shares of House Tekiel and claim insurance for stolen things to gain funding for The Set? Apologies if this is in the wrong section but I assume everyone in this forum has read the book a while ago and are experts on the details.

I exist! I'm really new to this whole things but I really want to discuss the epilogue of Alloy of Law and one particular thing that I didn't quite understand (I just finished the book yesterday). Are there any forums that have been recently updated that I can discuss this on without being spoilery in this forum?
