It's a dang good thing that my email showed me your previous screen name, because otherwise I was going to be extremely confused.

How did you swing that? Is it something anyone can get or just a limited number.

Someone on Twitter posted that they had a code for the first 20 chapters on audio for anyone who wanted it, so I dm'd them and asked if it was still available and it was! It's only a one-time use code, though, sorry.

  10. I have now preordered Oathbringer!!! It will arrive on release day!!!

  11. Hey folks!!! Another music announcement because it's sort of why I've been less active recently:

I've been recording an album! It's seven tracks, mostly original stuff. It's for sale on bandcamp (link below!) and I really hope you'll check it out, and, if you're driven to do so, support me monetarily.

    Thanks!!!

Could always edit on a bass synth pedal or something. But I get the feel you wanted to go all acoustic haha.

      Also I'm learning bass

Ah, well, see, therein lies the issue: I'm 15 and broke, with no way of getting nice equipment. I like that you called my style acoustic, another word could be casual. I recorded the whole thing in my basement on Audacity, using a USB microphone.

Also, congrats! I hope it goes well for you, it's a really fun instrument!

      Darkness Ascendant

Yeah, casual just makes it sound like you made a half-chull effort, which you didn't soooo.
And by that I mean on a (pirated) program or something.

Thanks! Yeah, I've always been attracted to it heheh.

  12. Happy birthday, Feather! I'm glad we can bond over our mutual love for Renarin.

  13. How have I never seen @Inkthinker's fantastic AoL art before now??

  14. Happiest of birthdays, Mes!

  15. I did my first open mic performance last night...

    ...and apparently I rocked it!

I played four songs and didn't forget a single word or chord, and I'm really happy about it!!!

  16. Hey folks! I just thought I'd let you know: if you get the chance to see music band Penny & Sparrow in concert, please do so. They're two incredibly funny and incredibly talented men who are a pleasure to watch and experience. Plus the merch table has cool shirts, they're light pink and really soft.

  17. Hey pals! I just thought I'd log on to plug some excellent music.
One of my favorite bands, Penny & Sparrow, has a new album coming out this Friday, entitled Wendigo. I happened to get it on vinyl in the mail a week early, and folks... it's really good music. It deals with fear in a really profound way, stripping it back to reveal the hope, and deeper meanings within. There's a trilogy of songs that put death in the spotlight, telling the story of life from death's perspective ("Part One: Visiting", "Part Two: Smitten", and "Part Three: Moniker"). There's a song (as on all their albums) named after a character from Les Miserables ("Javert"). All the tracks are powerful and beautiful, and I highly recommend it.

Wendigo also has some of the most beautiful album art I've seen in a long while.

  21. This is a note I have written to my English teacher, begging her to take my late work.

    Miss ____,

Zero is not a number. It has no value. It is merely the placeholder for numbers yet to come, or perhaps numbers that haven’t been put in yet.

Throughout history, zero has been significant. In ancient Egypt, around 1740 B.C., the symbol nfr, meaning ‘beautiful’, was used to indicate the baseline of the base ten system the Egyptians. Nfr had no value, it was simply the starting point for the rest of the numbers.

The Ancient Greeks had no symbol for zero. They were unsure about whether or not zero was a number. They asked themselves, "How can nothing be something?", and I ask you a similar question: how can my future career be something, when my missing work grades are nothing? Am I destined, set on a path made mine by the gods, or perhaps teachers, to fail? To end up working full-time in a [local fast food chain], my biggest achievement being “Employee of the Month August 2021” because I was exceptionally good at putting just the right amount of sugar-filled raspberry-flavored tea liquid in styrofoam cups? I desperately hope not.

There are lots of zeros on my current report card, mea culpa.

    Please take my late work.

Yours for the next week, and then hopefully no further,

    Cam ______

  24. So, we're talking about Stalin in history class, and every time - every time - someone says "secret police" what pops into my head is an image of a gender-ambiguous balaclava-clad cloak-and-miter-wearing star-bearing individual speaking through a vocoder.
