You know what would be funny? If Szeth and Jasnah and Shallan all took the same boat to the Shattered Plains. I mean, they are leaving from the same place to go to the same place, at about the same time. It would be an awesome way to pull some more character and background info from Szeth (probably by Shallan), but none of them says who they are (for ransom/safety reasons). And then it would make the battle between Szeth and Dalinar much more intense when it happened, because at the last moment Shallan and Jasnah burst in to protect Jasnah's father, and Szeth and Shallan meet eyes, and Szeth runs away. Even his honor isn't worth destroying the woman he loves. Hmm. I think this may be an outline for a short story..... Ooh! Even better. Jasnah and Szeth.

There's been an answer to this: " I think it goes back to Tolkien. There's a map in The Hobbit , and that map isn't just a random map, which has become almost a cliché of fantasy books, and of epic fantasy. "Oh, of course there's a random map in the front!" Well [Tolkien] wanted you to think this map was the actual map the characters carried around and that's why he included it. He wrote his books as if he were the archivist putting them together and translating them and bringing them to you, this wonderful story from another world, and he included the map because the map was there with the notes. That's what I wanted the feel for this ephemera to be. As though whoever's been writing the Ars Arcanum for all of the books has collected this book together, done the translation and included pieces of art and maps and things that they found in the world that had been collected during these events, and that's what you're getting." So you're getting in-world knowledge as well as a taste for the actual language.

I have some (more) questions: Why does Marsh kill an Allomancer for the spike used on King Penrod? Can Ruin not speak to non-allomantically spiked people? Yet he still is able to speak (and control) the Kandra, who have normal, non-allomantic spikes. Can a Drab return? And the inverse question of that is, Can an Awakener return? And then if an Awakener Returned, would he keep those extra breath that he won? EDIT- I don't want to make another post. Is the smoke we see coming from people's eyes who have been stabbed by Shardblades Nightblood?

Umm... I think you forgot to attach the file. And Brandon seems to be pretty good about Fan-Stuff that's made. It would still be good to hear from Peter, but I think we're probably good. Also, I've practiced writing some of the letters, and seems easiest for me to start at the bottom of the letter, and do non-line stuff (like the triangle in Z & S in my signature) before coming back down with the line. For vowels (like A in my signature), I make the line, then make the little slash at the top. But I don't know how the actual Ardents do it. And you're right. It doesn't seem to flow as well as cursive does.

That actually sounds like a really really good idea. It makes sense that just as the Ten Heralds and their magics have certain elements associated with them, so would the Voidbringers. Perhaps the Parshendi could be the monsters made of Blood or of Flesh. And perhaps the Chasmfiend could be of Crystal? That last one's a stretch. I honestly think Chasmfiends (in their present state at least) are just what they are- ridiculously large animals that can be hunted for food and resources. They may or may not pupate into Thunderclasts, but I don't know.

As long as they don't try to give their CEOs Steve Job's Spiritual DNA..... EDIT- Also, I think Steve Job's role in today's market was like Henry Ford in his day. Ford didn't invent the car- he just made it widely accessible and available to the masses. People bought Ford's stuff because it was cheap and useful. People bought Job's stuff because it was beautiful and useful.

Ah! Jealous!

She was supposed to work for Apple, but Siri turned in the paperwork for her, so they thought she was Vivenna. Vivenna is now very jealous, and has started working for Windows.

I've got a question, and I couldn't find an awards thread already, so I'll ask it here. What is the A Team award?

That's right, check your calenders. It's not April 1st. Brandon just barely released a new book. "What?" you ask. "How on earth does he have a new book out?" Easy. It's an ebook. As part of their promotion for Inifinity Blade 2, Epic asked Brandon to write a book for them- and he did! http://www.eurogamer...ade-2-announced Here is an attacked image from the iTunes store. (Note: This is NOT a cosmere book. Unfortunately.)

]You can use cut and paste of the attached image, but that's about it for now. When I figure out how to make fonts using Illustrator and freeware font programs, I'll see if I can make a font and spread it around.

This is what Brandon said about the Ten Fools:

I think so. I think they're about Returned level of immortality. In other words, you have to really be trying to kill them to kill them. Remember how Dilaf says that the Skaze are right about being able to kill the Elantrians? I think that means that Elantrians usually don't die.

Welcome Calmas! I love the Mistborn Trilogy. And that's pretty impressive that your 14 year old son will soon turn 50. That's a pretty awesome trick.

Welcome! We're glad you're here!

Trapped? Trapped by what? By theories? By Pterodactills? By spikes? By random facts? By Sheer Awesomness? Good. Done and done. And by the way, welcome to the forum! Glad to see you here.

I have something a little bit different today. I would like to invite any of you who have some free time to come and listen to General Conference of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (the Mormon Church) today or tomorrow from 10-12 am or 2-4 pm MST. Just turn it on for 5 minutes and see what you think. http://lds.org/?lang=eng http://mormonchannel.org/

Because one person having two sets of Shardblade seems excessive, to say the least.

I think we have a quote somewhere that says that Alloy of Law happens at about the same time as Warbreaker. Let's see if I can find it....

I would like to announce that while sometimes art imitates real life, real life sometimes imitates art (or Brandon Sanderson) http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-15062064 Fantastic.

You could probably make a page in the Source category, but I'm not sure what you would call the page. You might want to ask Joe about that.

Anything eh? So then. I'll ask you the most personal question I can think of. What. Color. Is. Your. Toothbrush. It's a very important thing. Almost as important as which flavor of jam you like best. Besides that, Welcome to 17th Shard! I hope you'll like it here and hope to see you around the forum! Also, is your name based off of the actual Demosthenes or on Ender's Game Demosthenes?
-
Please oh please. That would be phenomenal.

Great advice! Will do.
