The same friend also has a Notes section on his phone labelled "Memories" They are a collection of the stupid, reckless and plain retarded stuff that has happened around him or to him or which he has done. fantasy magic systems My Magic System
Darkness Ascendant replied to Tobysmouse's topic in Creator's Corner
glad, be sure to post the revised edition I also decided to check on the rest of your system. So how does this power work? I cannot see anything that draws your systems together, other than the use of crystals, shards. How does the crystal "recognise" what you have drawn? or are they special types of Soul Shards? In this way perhaps the Ivumites have in fact mastered a form of magic to draw on the very essence of the magic that powers all of your systems, similar to Investiture. As for the last part, how did the Shards get imbedded into them? surely they must have run out by now. Oh and could you post the first three chapter's of your story? I would really like to see how you are using these magic systems in relation to each other -
William As in Fitzwilliam Blitz a bit of rhyming to set the tone Von Heidenberg. Could you give us some background info on your character, so we can create a last name that actually fits yoru character

I have a few questions, raised thanks to you @CaptainRyan I thank your for this First up. Since the Shardplate is in fact Powered by the gems, could the gem's work be in fact of an ancient fabrial? As in, the Plate and Blade were made unique, for the Radiants, but fabrials were created to enhance them even further, and allow normal humans to use the Plates and Blades. From what I remember, The Radiants didn't need the gems to use the Plate and Blade, so, since being Surgebinders, they already had the power to use the Plate and Blade through their bonds. But an ordinary human wouldn't be able to use them, cue the fabrials, made so humans could use the Plate and Blade. So do the gems in fact enhance the user so they can in fact USE the Plate and Blade, not just enhancing them on top of the power the Plate and Blade lends them? And lastly, would these enhancements work proportionally to the user's strength. So if one person was faster than another unenhanced, the same person would be faster with enhancements as well? or do they go to a set amount of power?

Favorite Sanderson Villain?
Darkness Ascendant replied to Toaster Retribution's topic in General Brandon Discussion
Many of these villains are actually just good men who do bad things. I've compiled a list of the villains I know and psychologically analysed them . None of these people can be considered Evil Incarnates, besides Odium, who IS Evil, not just an Incarnate. An Antagonist can be anything btw, anything that hinders the protagonist's journey, basically just an obstacle on the road to "greatness" Gonna start with Alcatraz The Librarians- A power-hungry organisation with cliched intentions to rule the world. I guess one could see them as diabolical in the way that they control information and try to keep the world as "primitive" as possible, hindering technological "evolution", but all in all, I reckon they are pretty stupid villains. Elantris Hrathen- apparently one of the most loved antagonists by a quick skim I did of this thread. He is quite a good person actually, sort of in the same way that wade wilson is a good person at heart. He could be seen as a blind follower, he is devout to Jaddeth and in turn the Wyrm, but when he realises what his actions have caused and that technically the Wyrm caused it, he finally turns against the Wyrm due to his sense of justice. As he says, 'His problem is not with Jaddeth, but with teh Wyrm', He sees himself as a saviour, which is quite the recurring motif in Sanderson's works which i find a tad bit repetitive. When he realised how corrupt his leaders and Dilaf were he rebelled and tried to cause a revolution. Iodon- Another man who is easily corrupted by power. He ignores what he does, doing them simply because he can and sees others as below him. Telrii- An arrogant, wannabee bastard Dilaf- Quite the complex character. I reckon he is someone blinded by his faith as well, thinking that Jaddeth is the only one and that his believers are supreme, and that his opposers must be destroyed, alot like ISIS, but in one man . Whereas Hrathern is a cold, calculative character, Dilaf, is his cruel, fanaticist behaviour is in stark contrast. He's like Hitler, a Nazi Jaddeth supporter Wyrn, Wulfden the fourth- Primarily the Big Bad of Elantris. He is the Evil Overlord, manipulating everyone to his own ends. Alot like Baron Zemo from Civil War. He believes he has ultimate authority and that those who oppose him are infact the evil ones. I've just realised how much time I've used just merely doing Elantris and Alcatraz, I think I will do the others later I should be doing homework -
Is it just me or do you really don't like Navani

@Magestar XD, your logic is impeccable. Whereas you people read on-off, I seem to have a hard time picking up the book (idk why) and then when I pick it up and begin reading I fall into a sort of trance, and just read on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on. Until I finish the book and I'm like "It's been 5 hours already???" @EmeraldSlash About faster reading, that is SO true, I find that I read wayyy faster than my friends

Right on the money Eki You give the money you would have spent. I like that idea more than our version. We have to give zakah during Ramadan, and I think pay Fitra, which is like 10 dollars per person every day Sorry about the double post, wouldn't let me edit

Huh, your right, It's almost exactly the same as Halal/Haram. Funny when you think just how similar Judaism/Christianity/Islam are, and then you think the wars fought between them and the general rivalry, of course that doesn't exist any more (mostly) Nah, your choice if you want to work or not here in Aus. But like I said before, in Muslim countries it's basically a holiday @Daniyah Your soooo lucky that school's off for you guys. There are still two weeks left till the holidays here Yeah it's eleven days. UAE? Where there? If it's Dubai or Abhu Dabi, then I might be around when we go on holidays to visit family Mum was born there (Dubai) Yeah I've heard this too Good on you mate You face Jerusalem when you pray? All the more we are similar, we face the Kaba in Mecca when we pray Never thought of Ramadan like that This thread is moving wayyyy to fast. Take it easy with the forum-time guys. Or I will be forced to make even longer posts every 5 hours

I will try and be modest at you calling me amazing by saying that people do far more than me when fasting, like Mohammed Ali, who fasted no matter what The reason and purpose is varied. I recommend you google it for more precise answer I am about to give you. The reason is to instill discipline, self control and rememberance of the poor people in the world who "fast" on a daily basis. It reminds us on how much we rely on what God gives us, food, water etc etc and to be thankful and grateful at Allah's mercy that we were born in such fortunate families, among the top 6% richest people in the world. Haha, here my mother wakes up an hour before us to prepare breakfast then wakes us up. She's amazing. There are different laws as such when it comes to this circumstance. To end up beyond the Arctic Circe means to travel there. And a travelling muslim is allowed to take it easy in things like prayer, fasting etc etc You guys get it easy XD, But I guess seeing as we have Jumah on Friday, which means we are exempt from work, except for necessary and important things, in which case we can only take time off to pray. In Muslim countries Jumah is like the weekend for us. Here in Australia however, we are still expected to keep up and continue working. also, what is kosher?

fantasy magic systems My Magic System
Darkness Ascendant replied to Tobysmouse's topic in Creator's Corner
Wait wait wait. THEIR METEORS? I am afraid I do not understand this, assuming that the elementals are beings made of a specific element and that meteors are small bodies of matter from outer space that break the Earth's atmosphere. How do elementals have "meteors", are you saying that they used to be asteroids? And then broke up into smaller meteors on impact of the Earth's Atmosphere and burning up as they fall? Because a Meteor burns up on entry. I think the word you are looking for is meteorite? (shooting stars) Knowing that like 90% of matter that enters Earth is burned up on entry and that the remaining 10% actually hitting the surface. In this case I am assuming Exos was the one Asteroid that didn't break up on impact and turned into a bolide (fireball) disintegrating until only enough of "him" remained to be turned into a Soul Key? How are Soul Shards turned into Soul Keys? Were the elementals in fact just "Solid Souls" floating in Space until Earth's gravity caught them? If this is the case, then surely other planets have Soul Shards as well, which would imply that there are inumerous amounts of Solid Souls just floating in Space. Are the Elementals sentient rocks? Or were they depicted like that from ancient civilisations which first discovered them? Like Gods that fell from heaven? Do you burn Soul Keys like Allomancers or do you draw on their powers like Breath, like the energy is released from breaking it or dissipating it and then "absorb" it? so does this imply magic can be "stolen" So sorta like Half-Lives, I reccomend you describe the powers rather than as elementals but as supernatural forms of radiation which came from the places like the hearts of stars, the cores of quasars or the very essence of Black Holes. Personally I think you should keep your fundamental ideas and powers but redo the whole system so it feels more like a system rather than a few good ideas strung together half-formed. It needs serious revising and I believe you should ask more questions to yourself about what you are writing. Look at your ideas from a different perspective.I am glad you posted this here as a second opinion is vital when creating something. Oh and work on the sources of the powers more, the forces that the powers contain and the processes identified with them They should cost alot more, because I implied before, it is impossible to have that many Soul Keys unless their Power Density is extremely high, so a small amount would surmount to alot of power. Majority of the power would have been "diluted" on entry of the atmosphere, so I have an idea for you. Make it so people are slowly evolving due to the energies in the atmosphere and subsequently the water and the land, and so are developing powers of their own, natural powers. You can call them "True Elementals" if you want I know this is alot to think about, and I have merely touched on one part of your Magic System (I will review the rest when I am less tired of thinking than I am now). But please don't feel like I'm criticizing you, look at this like constructive feedback.
