  1. Just the entire part when Kaladin and Shallan really meet for the first time, when she's not pretending to be a Horneater princess. There's a lot before this, but here's where it's most concentrated: "She took his arm in her freehand as he turned to give orders to his men. 'Is this really all because I lied to you?' she demanded more softly. He looked nack at her. 'It's about doing my job.' 'Your job is to be offensive and asinine?' 'No, I'm offensive and asinine on my own time too. My job is to keep people like you away form Dalinar Kholin.' 'I guarantee he hill want to see me.' 'Well, forgive me for not trusting the word of a Horneater princess. Would you like some shells to chew on while my men tow you away to the dungeons?' All right, that's enough. 'The dungeons sound wonderful!' she said. 'At least there, I'd be away from you, idiot man!' 'Only for a short time. I'd be by to interrogate you.' 'What? I couldn't pick a more pleasant option? Like being excecuted?' 'You're assuming I could find a hangman willing to put up with your blathering long enough to fit the rope.' 'Well, if you want to kill me, you could always let your breath do the job.' ... 'I should envy you,' he said, turning back to her. 'My breath needs to be up close to kill, while that face of yours can kill any man from a distance.' 'Any man?' she asked. 'Why, it's not working on you. I guess that's proof that you're not much of a man.' 'I misspoke. I didn't mean any man, just males of your own species -- but don't worry. I'll take care not to let our chulls get close.' 'Oh? Your parents are in the area, then?' His eyes widened, and for the first time she seemed to have really gotten under his skin. 'My parents have nothing to do with this.' 'Yes, that makes sense. I'd expect that they want nothing to do with you.' 'At least my ancestors had the sense not to breed with a sponge!' he snapped, probably a reference to her red hair. 'At least I know my parentage!'" Sorry for the long quote, but I cannot stop laughing anytime I read this part!
  2. I love how the connection between Nalthis and Roshar is ever deepening! I think that Nightblood does have a chance of being created by a Herald, or at least a Herald assisted or manipulated in it. He (Nightblood) kind of seems like a cross between an Honorblade and a live Shardblade. He speaks in the bearer's head (like a bonded spren would), but he also feeds upon Investiture (Syl said that Honorblades do the same). I also think that Nalan is connected with Nightblood because an extreme desire to destroy evil is a very Nalan-Skybreaker temperament.
  3. I think it's very probable that Mraize is a Worldhopper. For one, I do believe that it is noted in WoR that Shallan "could not place his accent" (Words of Radiance, Chapter 43 -- "The Ghostbloods" pg. 491, hardcover). Brandon, when in native Rosharan POVs, often describes Worldhoppers in this way. In WoK, in the first interlude in a Purelaker named Ishikk's POV, notes that one of the men with whom he was meeting (confirmed to be Captain Demoux from Mistborn: The Final Empire) sort of looked Alethi, but his accent most certainly did not match his physical appearance (The Way of Kings, Chapter I-1 -- "Ishikk" pg. 200, paperback). Also, Mraize is marked in a sort of parallel to Hoid, the most famous of Worldhoppers, at least twice in WoR. Shallan received a strange visitor during a Middlefest celebration when she was about 13 or 14 years old that revealed her Lightweaving powers to her (Words of Radiance, Chapter 45 -- "Middlefest" pgs. 527-529, hardcover). Later in the novel, Shallan identifies Hoid as this visitor (Words of Radiance, Chapter 55 -- "The Rules of the Game" pg. 641, hardcover). However, when she first meets Mraize, "He reminded her of someone, a man from her childhood. The messenger with the smiling eyes, the enigma who knew so much" (Words of Radiance, Chapter 43 -- "The Ghostbloods" pg. 490, hardcover). Here we can see an evident parallel between Hoid and Mraize. And then there is the thing which this entire thread is about: "'But who is the wanderer, the wild piece, the one who makes no sense? I glimpse at his implications, and the world opens to me. I shy back. Impossible. Is it?' -- From the Diagram, West Wall Psalm of Wonders: paragraph 8 (note by Adrotagia: Could this refer to Mraize?)" (Words of Radiance, epigraph to Chapter 85 -- "Swallowed by the Sky" pg. 1017, hardcover). When I first read this epigraph, before I saw the reference to Mraize, I thought it must obviously refer to Hoid as well. A "wanderer" and a "wild piece"? "One who makes no sense"? A man whose implications fill even super-mind-boggling-awesome-genius Taravangian with awe? Who else could it possibly refer to? Then I saw that Adrotagia had connected this statement with Mraize, making another stark parallel. All this considered, I think that Mraize is most certainly a Worldhopper.
  4. If a Full Lashing were just another manifestation of the Surge of Gravitation, then the Invested object would have to manifest behavior as if it were being pulled toward the object it is bonded to. In the Ars Arcanum of WoR (and WoK, I believe) the Full Lashing is described as "an extremely powerful bond, nearly impossible to break." If the Investing of an object with a full lashing merely made the object think the thing its being stuck to is down, I believe that it would be a lot easier to break the bond between them and, if it were broken, the object would continue to be drawn toward the object it was bonded to. Furthermore, if a Full Lashing were a mix of Gravitation and Adhesion Surges, then I don't think that Windrunners would have much need for Adhesion at all. Also, there has been evidence throughout both books that applying more Investiture to the Surge of Gravitation compounds the effect (e.g., applying more than one basic lashing in the same direction to an object makes in fall that way faster). Please correct me if I'm wrong, but I can't recall any point in the books where a Full Lashing could be made stronger by applying more Stormlight. This further substantiates the fact that Adhesion and Gravitation are different Surges, and as a result the abilities associated with one Surge would not be affected by the other, in the same way that Lightweavers can't really combine the Surges of Illumination and Transformation. I hope this helps! :D
