  1. Referring to the fact that I'm guaranteed to start a villager, and therefore will plan accordingly. Chances are more likely that I'll remain a villager than not. Also, a down vote because of my play style? Not cool >>
  2. I'm perfectly comfortable "shooting myself in the foot" because I play to my current victory condition, no matter what.
  3. Yeah, that's why I hadn't proposed that in the first place, or the plan that no one explores until the random kills reduce our numbers to something more manageable besides we're going to want Events and Items to give us power to combat the Traitors.
  4. Ah. Shame. That would have made things fun for me (I like using tiny bits of information to help solve a larger puzzle)...
  5. Sweet, thanks. Alright ladies, gents. It's guaranteed we're all going to be village at the start of this game, so I see no harm in doing some pregame discussion regarding strategy. That being said, obviously the people who only intend on spectating should not contribute their thoughts, unless Wyrm rules that's okay (which I doubt he will). The way I see it, this game can be divided into phases. Phase One is going to involve us Exploring until we trigger an Omen (will likely happen N1 anyway), and the subsequent hunt for the player who was converted. As the rules state, we cannot discover the Heart of the House until a Traitor dies, and therefore our first priority needs to be accomplishing that. The trouble is, we're going to want to preserve as many Explorers as possible for Phase Two, as the more villagers we have Exploring, the faster we will discover the Heart and the method to kill it. Therefore I am going to advocate the following: For a large duration of Phase One I believe that we should only lynch inactives until we have an actual lead, which more-than-likely will involve Roles and Items. Blindly killing active players in this game will only make things much harder in the end. The exact statistics are going to depend on the total number of players, but most likely it'll be something like a 1/20 chance. I would say we should make it a rule that at the discovery of the third Omen, we begin to thoroughly analyze one another and place votes on people we're genuinely suspicious of, but until then, trying to kill active players is not worth the risk. Once Phase Two roles around, we're going to want to discover the Heart and fast. This is why I want to preserve as many active players as possible. The sooner we get rid of the Heart to prevent any more conversions, the sooner we can focus entirely on finding the last of the Traitors, which I will dub Phase Three and will be the most akin to a regular game of mafia. At this point in the game I would recommend all villagers Explore instead of using their newly obtained powers and items. On Omens. I will ask @Wyrmhero for confirmation on this, but the rules state that "Note that the player that is subverted is unconnected to the player who discovers the Omen." I am reading that as whoever discovers the Omen cannot have been converted. Therefore, whoever discovers the Omen should announce it immediately. While it's possible they could have been converted before or end up converted after, that will at least guarantee they are not that particular Traitor. One thing I might want to organize is a PM chain, where every player passes on what items and powers they obtain through exploration to the person next to them. This info should stay between those two players only so that if another player accidentally references it, we'll know the source of the leak. Additionally, this will give every player someone they can personally bounce ideas off of, which can either cause you to develop strategies you wouldn't have otherwise, or put a Traitor in a situation where they might give something away. These PMs should be set up N1, to begin a repertoire. Obviously no one will begin with any information, but once N2 rolls around, every player should have something to report, even if it's that nothing happened. However, if the next player in the chain has not responded often enough (I would say somewhere between 10 and 20 PMs) then cease contact and message the next person in the chain, as if your original PM buddy was unwilling to receive information, they most definitely haven't passed any on. This will allow us to bridge the gap and keep information accounted for. We can then create a list of every player who gets removed from the chain and use them as people to get rid of whenever we don't have better options. Another added benefit to this is that someone will be able to explain what a player who dies abilities consisted of. Keep in mind that if we implement this plan you can have as many PMs as you want, but I strongly advise neither participant reveals any powers, items or information they gained via exploring. Keep the talk to things like players your suspicious of, and events that have unfolded in thread. To make the picture clearer, this is what it would look like, according to the current player list. I PM Wonko and spill everything to him, though Wonko tells me nothing in return. Wonko has a similar PM with Doc, Doc with Nyali, Nyali with Stick, then Stick with me. So... thoughts?
  6. Ah, somehow missed a good portion of the rules. Sorry about that. Now that I've read 'em all, a few questions. I notice you used the word usually, here. What happens after Events that don't grant a Role? If the House reclaims an Item, does that mean it can be found again but a player in the future, or is it lost for good? Will it be announced in the write up when an Omen is discovered? Or must we rely on the player who discovers the Omen to announce it? The wording here seems to imply that no Traitors can act if they make a kill, though I'm assuming you meant only a single player is unable to use their unique abilities / Items. Can you confirm which is correct?
  7. I'll sign up as Timekeeper. Whether he's called that because he's a Returned or because of his obsession with keeping time, I'll leave you to decide. The petite, top-hatted, trench coat wearing man possesses a diverse collection of watches and clocks from all over the Cosmere. Recently, said collection has grown so large he can't even fit into his tiny Hallandren apartment. Searching for larger quarters to live in, he has stumbled upon an advertisement for the House on the Hill, and is eager to attend the open house.
  8. El got her mother's mind and her father's heart, the latter being less like a heart and more like a black hole. So yeah, definitely can't break that.
  9. If you want to know, Araris, I'm trying to arrange it so that all Regulars get elected Guild Leaders (you, me, Burnt) and win regardless of what faction pulls victory out in the end. Powerless people deserve to win now and then
  10. @Araris Valerian and @Dalinar Kholin, can we vote PK instead of Burnt? She's harmless compared to her teammates, and personally I'd prefer her to win as Guild Leader than get killed and lose. Otherwise I'll change my vote to Araris, because I'd rather her not die =\
  11. Well, Joe asked me if I wanted to die along with the inactives, and I said yes Like I said, I believe Ecth is a villager. I am also have some faith that Lopen is, too. I am suspicious of Len, mostly because his notable activity this game reminds me of MR17, although since they're the two most recent games it's possible it's just him just evolving as a player. Orlok has since PM'd me apologizing about the situation. This does not mean that he isn't evil and should be let off the hook, even though I personally wish I could say it does. Considering the rapid shift in votes and the fact that vote manipulation was used to try to get me killed over doc makes me think it was more than just him who got directly involved. I'm less sure which of Orlok and Rae is the ally, but I'm still confident one is. I could be wrong but at this point I believe that Jon is village. Pay very close attention to players who are refraining from voting (sheep comes to mind) and players who are not posting but still surviving (no one this turn, since Sheep snuck a post in towards the end of D1 and Nathan just got one in). I think there's a decent chance Nathan is evil, due to the timing of his post. It's possible that he was writing in the doc or was PM'd by his fellow elims if not to post so that he wouldn't be caught surviving this turn without posting. I didn't get to take many notes this game due to the music festival I attended this weekend, but here is what I did take. For the most part it's just summaries of posts though I had a personal comments I made, some of which ended up being irrelevant since El turned out to be village anyway, and despite me being suspicious of Orlok I am less so of Lopen. So best of luck village. I'll be watching from the Cognitive Realm. Make me proud.
  12. All of it, in my opinion. What the storms is the point of gaining trust with the village if I state in blue text that this game is taking up too much of my attention and that I regret joining it? Through a medium that guarantees absolute truth, I made it clear that removing me from this game is in my own personal best interest. Anyone who knows me at all (which I would think Orlok does, given our interactions both in and out of games) knows that I would not hesitate to inconvenience myself if someone else's fun or victory is dependent on me (which it is significantly less so on the village side compared to eliminators). To challenge that by suggesting it's a convoluted plot to gain trust is not only an insult against me regarding my integrity as a player, but as a human being in general: the former because that skirts the fair play rules if not breaks them entirely, the latter because it means I would be willing to manipulate real life circumstances for an advantage in a meaningless game that's sole purpose is entertaining people. I firmly believe there is absolutely no point in doing what I did as an eliminator, and to jump to that conclusion on the very first day of the game when a player we have now learned is evil would be lynched otherwise is the very definition of suspicious. I said pregame I would not be able to participate as much as I usually do. That would have been enough to skate by without issue. Bringing attention to myself by asking the eliminators to kill me can only lead to two possibilities, unless you're willing to believe I possess no morality at all: no difference being made in the game as they would just target someone more active anyway, or them removing me from the game as requested instead of a player like El who could actually give this her all comparatively. Besides, the entire situation reeks of the Shallan Debacle of LG15b. For anyone who isn't familiar, an eliminator was about to get lynched on the very first day, when a fellow eliminator gave very poor reasoning to lynch someone else, which somehow instigated a bandwagon that saved them. Depending on who the eliminators are, they might go for the more strategic route and use a player who's asking for death anyway to save one of their teammates, rather than waste their own kill on them. I am growing more and more certain that's what happened there. Therefore Arraenae and Orlok. I don't know if Jondesu is evil; he very well might be. If he isn't, though, I would definitely consider lynching Rae tomorrow. If he is, she's likely good, but just wasn't thinking clearly regarding me (which she typically does anyway). Orlok, on the other hand, continues to affirm my suspicions of him. I'm likely biased because I cannot take what he is saying as anything other than an insult towards my personal character, but I honestly believe he is a better friend than to assume that of me in normal circumstances, and the only other circumstance that makes sense to me is that he is evil and was desperately trying to prevent the death of an ally in favor of someone who wanted his team to kill him anyway. So long as I am alive, I promise to dedicate all of the time and effort I possibly can to this game. To do anything less goes against one of my largest pet peeves: volunteering for something and failing to follow through. If the village wants to organize a tied lynch with me and someone else, then I welcome it with open arms, but if so I will fight until the very end of my last post to make sure I take an enemy down with me, and right now I wholeheartedly believe that one of those enemies is either Orlok or Arraenae. Edit: Ignore the blue text from the original post. It was an unintentional error.
  13. Yeah my money is on Rae between the two. Orlok is known for playing devils advocate so I might be able to accept that explanatuon , but 'I really liked Orlok's reasoning'. Call me biased but the reasoning was pretty nonsensical.
  14. Some stuff happened, resulting in me having a moment to read over stuff and post (imagine this all in blue text, this phone I'm using is horrible). Thank you Lopen for pointing out what I was about to already. Of course volunteering to get killed is going to discourage elims from attacking me. That's exactly why I asked. If they did then it would save someone more useful and if they didn't then it might set something up like this. I am going to vote arraenae. I honestly would be okay with lynching both Orlok and her today because it saves us time. Either way one of them is likely evil. I doubt not a single elim got involved given the scenario (not including doc who could very well have been off). IMO, Lopen and I are about as clear as it gets. Me because Doc tried to drag me down with him and Lopen for preventing it. Wonko might also be soft cleared too for no intervening, though I wouldn't go that far. I'll post more when I'm sober
  15. About to leave for a music festival so, given I should be killed by the Nobles today, I'll at least try to put my vote somewhere useful. Elenion. I'm relatively confident Ecth is skaa and don't have enough strong opinions on Lopen, El or Doctor (and now Wonko, yay ninjas) to cast my vote their way. Sorry for not being able to participate more, have a good rest of the turn ya'll. Edit: Just realized I didn't even mention why I think Len is suspicious. Mostly gut, I guess. I find it peculiar how he's being passive about the lynch like his brother usually is but then criticizing Ecth for being lynch happy like he usually is. Also, other than joke votes, eliminators are almost never among the first players to try to get lynches started on the first day. Instead they wait and react to the village, and act wishy-washy because they're primary concern is keeping attention away from themselves so they can live long enough to overrun us, not direct the lynch when it's most likely going to end up on a villager at this point in the game anyway.
  16. Going to mention me too? I've been viewing the thread for a quite a while now I'm too tired to conduct analyses and am beginning to regret joining this game, as it's already taking up more of my time and attention than I can afford. So as a result, I'm going to formally request that the eliminators attack me this turn so I can focus on my NaNo. Before I die though, I will say Ecth is my best bet for a villager right now, and I'm considerably more suspicious of Len than usual. I've got a couple more reads but I'm not going to make those public for now; instead at the end of this cycle I'll info dump all the strategic thoughts and analysis I have to three players in PMs so that it's guaranteed to be in the villages hands.
