I'm guessing it's not steel
-
Aw... Sadface

It could be poosible that there is some small influence on Hemalurgy due to Harmony being of both shards (I guess that would also imply some effect of ruin on allomancy) that could cause a hemalurgic spike to preserve itself
-
You can have one...
-
That's pretty funny... *Pushes on rest of cookies* are there more spikes in there.?.?.?

MLAH!!! THERTH A THPIKE EN MAI THONGUE!!!! cool... I can burn steel now... mwa haha

Maybe you pass through Shadesmar for an infinitesimal time period when you hit the event horizon of a speed bubble... (There are no grounds for it, but it would be interesting)

At the end of HoA Sazed did compile the contents into a book. I believe the title was "Words of Founding" which is referenced a few times in AoL

It is not clear yet as to where the bubble is rooted to, since we know that the planets are not stationary in space, but nor are the bubbles linked to the slider. It might be an advanced technique to allow the bubble to move with the slider. I would think that a slider would age at a constant rate relative to their frame of reference, but outside of the bubble they would appear to age 8 times as fast (assuming the 2min/15s conversion factor). For a feruchemist, unless they are moving at relativistic speeds, there would likely be little effect on the age of them by moving faster. As far as the transition between bubble and outside, not enough detail was really given to create a good theory around how it would work leaving the bubble. the only real evidence we have about the mechanics is the instantaneous velocity change of Wax's bullets leaving the bubble, and not a gradual bending of the bullet, as I would expect to see were the time dilation not constant. Nor is there distortion shown within the bubble when you get the perspective from within it, such as the sound distortion mentioned

I was pretty sure when you burned a metalmind, a byproduct of tapping it for allomancy was the release of the compounded power. Even if not, they could burn a separate source of metal for the pull. There were numerous times where characters were seen burning multiple sources of metal simultaneously, eg. Duralumin + another metal. So I cannot imagine that the possibility would be out of the question, either using the metalmind for both Metal Arts, or burning a separate piece of iron.
-
I would imagine Iron Compounding, unless done VERY carefully would lead to many dead Iron Compounders. Imagine one burning their metalmind, increasing their weight tremendously while pulling on the support structure of a building, train, or any other REALLY FRICKIN large metal object. Because of the burning metalmind, he would likely be massive enough to pull whatever it was towards him (and likely at great speed), but at the same time, he would need to be very well protected or he might crush himself. On the other hand, with a sufficiently large pair of masses (read well-build skyscrapers) one could potentially use the great amount of force by pulling on the masses to rocket ones self at great speed into the air, as long as momentum, and not velocity is conserved in flight.

Oh, I had figured that they wouldn't understand the maths behind it, just my theory on how it works within the universe. I would imagine a person leaving while the bubble was up would have some nasty repercussions though. The part of the person's body would be moving 8 times as fast on the other side of the bubble... I don't think flesh and bone would like that very much

Maybe both theories are right... They want to use the women as breeding stock to make babies to be used for hemalurgy. That way they'd be more self-sufficient, and more able to go underground for a longer period of time.

Brandon Will Accept Mistborn Game Proposal

I was of the opinion that object leaving a Slider's bubble were not acting erratically, but functioned in a similar way to the way light refracts when it changes mediums (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Refraction). This would give the space within the Bendalloy bubble a refractive index of ~.125 assuming the quoted figure of a Slider compressing 2 minutes into 15 seconds (15s/120s)and a refractive index of air as 1. This would allow one to calculate then the angle and speed of a projectile leaving a speed bubble, and it would not be 'random' but calculable. Though this does have the interesting side effect that bullets fired through the bubble move at 8 times the muzzle velocity of the gun in question

Does anyone have a good resource for Mistborn related characters or scenery?

YAY COOKIE!!! *STEAL*

The use of the earring was quite fascinating as well. It's nice to see hemalurgy portrayed in a positive light (Anyone else think Vin gave him the earring?)

Theory: Hemalurgy can transfer any Investiture
Soother replied to discipleofhoid's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Wasn't it stated in Elantris, that Elantrians are not in fact immortal, but just age REALLY slow? Just doing a fact check. -
I am under the impression that Marsh works under Harmony as an agent and occasional messenger, by his ability to materialize in the physical world. But with the manner of Sazed/Harmony, I would imagine his enforcement of balance would be tempered by his willingness to not prevent others from doing as they will (for the most part). From his actions in AoL, he is a reactionary deity, not proactive. He allows things to follow their natural Path, but corrects the path as need be. This would allow Marsh's actions, which are within his character, while also maintaining the balance, at least in the long term. As for his comment on Breeze, I felt that it was more to himself than to Marasi.

Repeatedly. I really respect the fact that Brandon Sanderson never uses Deux ex Machina to solve plot issues. I have never hit a point in his novels where I put the book down and say 'That doesn't make sense' Though I do often think 'I never would have seen that coming.' The levels of detail he puts into the minutia is amazing, and having read most of his books at least twice, I continue to find things I had overlooked on previous readthroughs. I have already read AoL twice and I have seen so many things that I had overlooked on first read through.

I don't remember where the reveal is in the series, but we do know that the earing is a hemalurgic spike imbued with a seeker's (her sister) power. I don't remember if it is implied she is naturally better with Bronze, or it is just because of the spike. I would imagine that with feruchemy it might be harder to determine what type of metalmind they were tapping (could they also then sense them filling their metalminds then?) because there is such a greater range of rate of consumption for feruchemy than allomancy, due to the fact that the rate of tapping/storing the quality is much more variable than that for allomancy (I hope that made sense).

He is an agent of Harmony. It's stated as such at the end of the book. He is viewed in a negative light by most of the people in Elendel likely due to the atrocities he commited before the end of HoA, though the explicit position of Marsh's place in the mythos at the time of AoL is not given. The perceptions of the people do not necessarily reflect the nature of said 'dieties.' Marsh seems to be more of a messenger of Harmony than anything else
