I like it, it is not fantastic, but I like it. Problem is that I cant really find anything that has quite the same tone I have in my head, so I have no one to really copy, so I just have to mix things XD Im not claiming to be original or anything, just that I havent found the same feeling I have in my head outside my head. Who are you writing for? Are you writing to please others or because you think it is fun and because you want to create? Of course it feels great when someone enjoys what you have created, but it doesnt really matter if you enjoy what you are doing. It is gravy, the best gravy ever, but just gravy. Creation is the main course. Thats my thoughts on the matter and now lets see who ninjad me... EDIT: Ah, Kobold, you ridiculously upvoted Ninja.

Oh yes, that would be useful, Im really trying to get to know the characters at the moment, Im definitely more the gardener kind of writer to use RR Martins terminology XD I am doing a pretty simple fantasy story at the moment, probably wont pass The Alloy Of Law in length, it could possibly end up being two books, but you never know, I may start and it blows up on me, I'll try Zim if it does.

... sticky notes... thats a fantastic idea! Why didnt I think of that... Now I just need sticky notes and decide which of my walls deserve the sticky treatment... So I have the major plot points as one color, the character development as another, exposition as another, comedy and loose ideas that may or may not fit as a fifth and so on? So, Improvising horror shorts has taught me to tell a decently interesting short story, what it hasnt taught me however is how to actually plan things. Usually when I write I get an idea, I start writing and then I figure out how it is going to end somewhere near the middle and that works, when I only have one thread to follow, but now when I feel like telling a story that will take more than 5 minutes to read I need to write down what will happen to keep track of everything. Well, I cant figure out how to actually outline, my notes are a jumble of ideas, bad jokes, cool lines, some magic and ideas for monsters and is probably more of a mess than my desk. So, how do I note, plan and so on in a way that is structured and makes sense?

Maybe the Stormlight of his shardplate is going to interfere with the entire "Knock you back in time" thing. It is possible.

Shadows of Self acts a lot like The Alloy of Law, then he says something that tears your soul apart, the Emperors Soul is a philosophical artist. If it makes you feel better I thought the same thing XD

Well... If you apply to more jobs theres a larger chance that you get one of them... but really, even if you do manage to get one that is too close to where your family live you will still try to find another one a soon as possible, so you may as well look for something far away XD

So you can instead get a job far away from your annoying family so you dont have to deal with them until you really have to deal with them? I hope the snarkieness is enough to convey that I support your choice in stubbornness.
