  1. I don't know, I'll think about it. I'm a little committed to SovStates at the moment, but I'll look into it.
  2. Oh, and I totally forgot to mention the RP! I meant to. I looked into it, but I'm a bit hesitant. I've never roleplayed before, and I'm not sure exactly what all goes into it. Also I'm afraid of it taking up too much time.
  3. Hmm. Now I wonder. The weeping comes at the same time every year and is how the Rosharians keep track of years, but does it actually line up with the revolution of the planet? And if so, what about the planet's positioning causes the weeping to occur?
  4. Is it just me or do these topics get derailed really quickly? Not that I mind, but it is interesting.
  5. Hmm, so do you keep Spook around to eat all the illegal tin? Also, I'm up for chatting. My AIM is FeatherWrites, but I'll warn you I'm terrible at chatting. I'm sure Chaos will tell you; he's been stalking me already...
  6. Okay, because I'm all Way-of-Kings-upped, I can't help but notice that Shiro seems like Vun Makak from the Purelake. You know, where you have to pretend you're worshiping him to keep him from realizing you're actually worshiping his more noble older brother Nu Ralik. And in order to keep Shiro from changing your words, you have to find the focus of his magic and write it in that! I write these words in modems, for everything not set hardware cannot be trusted...
  7. Sounds good to me Zas. Don't know that I'll espouse it just yet, but I like where it's started. One thing though: I would say that while, yes, the breaths given on Nalthis are human power, it is the influence of Endowment which allows them to do so. So because (presumably) Endowment created humans on Nalthis, she gave them the ability to give pieces of themselves to others.
  8. Yeah. Sorta. We apparently need a better metaphor for the Shards...
  9. Umm... Someone needs to give Puck "the talk" it seems. 1, 2, 3... NOSE GOES!!
  10. That sounds about right, I suppose, but I'm not sure. It's been a long time since I read Elantris.
  11. I'm trying! She's so stubborn!
  12. That's exactly what I'm talking about. If the shard isn't sentient, why would pieces of it be? Also, I have two theories about the breaths. Either being attached to a human endows (cough cough) sentience on the breaths. Or, more likely (but more in depth) everything has a cognitive mind. For reference, when Shallan soulcasts, she speaks to the mind (spren) of the goblet to get it to change. So, give enough breath to anything and even a metal sword's mind can be augmented to sentience.
  13. Hmm. I should totally edit that last part of the post out and make her get an account...
  14. "Ah, but Shallan, there never were any real Awesome Points in the first place. For some reason I have always been able to create awesome without the use of these awesome-augmenting fabrials called points. I'm not sure why, but I believe it has something to do with the use of caffine. I know normally it's trapped in paper cups, but I am able to extract it an use it like the Radiants of old." "So it's all a hoax then? The Awesome point fabrials are all fake?" "No, as far as I know, everyone else who does what we do uses a fabrial to do so." On an unrelated note, guess who finished Way of Kings? ----------------- Hi!!!! I'm Alyx's real life friend and I stole this while she was typing to say random crap about her but I don't have anything to say. I have read Way of Kings and will be lurking/stalkerizing henceforth!!!!!
  15. Do we know this for sure or is this a "Are windspren attracted to the wind or do the cause it?" sort of question? We can tell they're related, but can we be sure which affects which?
  16. Back away from my awesome points or face the wrath of an overcaffinated fangirl! (Caffine is to Alyx as Stormlight is to Szeth. Beware.) And I suppose as long as I'm receiveing the spike that's okay. But I suppose that would mean I'd be an Inquisitor. And only the Admins are Inquisitors. Does this mean {dun dun duuuun!} I'M BEING SHANGHAIED INTO A PROMOTION??? Oh no! Now I see why the promotions are punishments here!
  17. For the sake of getting us back on somewhat of a topic (Sorry Shadesmar and Sel!): We're assuming that there were four factors which allowed Vin to become Preservation. 1. Her own personality being in line with the Shard's intent (Chaos' theory as hijacked by Feather) 2. Her Attuning via the Well of Ascension (Stated by Brandon) 3. The lack of the influence of Ruin (via a hemalurgic spike) 4. The lack of a Cognitive Mind attatched to the Shard (after Leras' death)
  18. I don't know. I feel like the Seons would be splinter-holders as well (but don't quote me on that, as it's been a long time since I read Elantris). The Seons and Spren just feel very different from the Divine Breaths - the only confirmed splinters we have. I'd imagine that splinters would be more like the god metals (though much more powerful because they are larger portions of the shard): not sentient but seeking to be held by sentience. Like the shards themselves, but well, smaller. A piece of the whole. A splinter.
  19. Question, where'd you get the name Eshonai, Link?
  20. Well, you have to think that when smashing things you're going to get recoil and that's tiring. Whereas swinging a shardblade around, there's no recoil. The only thing that would make you tired would be the weight of the blade and the energy spent keeping it in motion as opposed to hitting against something then having to change your force's direction again to land a new hit.
  21. I don't know. The way he described himself to Vin, it definitely seemed like he was leaning toward the "end of all things" sort of Ruin. And that was his request for Preservation: that one day he would get to destroy everything that they created.
  22. To be more specific, if you're born left handed you're automatically a guy, if you're right handed you get to choose! So women are infinitely better because every woman chose to be that way, while most of the men are lefthanders who got stuck being guys. <--(Not biased at all)
  23. How many parts do you have, Puck? Sixteen? Puck, are you Adonalsium....?
  24. I'd say Ruin probably fills the Death shard requirement. His focus is on the end of all things so I'd assume death falls under his jurisdiction.
  25. Ah, then the Well would be the attuner. I can't believe I forgot that! And the only time (other than the end) when she doesn't have her earring is when she's trapped by Yomen - inside where the mists can't reach her.
