Psssssst, Renarin being a cutie. I always want to see more Renarin and your style is so fabulous.

Actually, no! I've only recently met Kirry, though I'm in love with the work that I've seen thus far! I actually saw her first on Reddit, and she linked to her tumblr! She's got a follower from me! (Also, I have no idea how Reddit works and it scares me.) We haven't talked yet, though, so it's nice to see her over here!

You Know You're a Sanderfan When...

When you quote Way of Kings in formal analysis essays for English classes. Multiple times. -
And because I'm a crazy person who apparently has nothing better to do... I COME TO YOU WITH THREE SCROUNGER UPDATES ON TOP OF THAT ONE. A session, and two extra goodies! Audio recording from Sylvie Session #17 Audio recording of a convo between Miranda and fiVe in Session #17 (EDIT: new link because the last one was weird) So you know, if y'all are like super curious to hear me attempt to voice-act fiVe and Sylvie NOW'S YOUR CHANCE. We're going to pretend that I didn't decide to make Sylvie an American just so that my accent would match hers, shhhhhh.

Yep, this was a pretty quick session, especially since the actual session was just the first few scenes. They Sylvie stuff was actually done the day after with just me and Gavin. Don't have much to comment on in the first scenes, since I wasn't really a part of them, but yeah it's mostly just a wrap up for the house scene. We'll get some good stuff in the next one, I believe. I think the group mostly wanted to take it slow for Megan's first run. She's not a full time-player, just picks up NPCs every now and then to help Gavin out. It's pretty fun. Ha, haha, Sylvie? Plan going smoothly? NOT LIKELY. I'm almost 99% sure Gavin was planning to have her get kidnapped but then... she went along willingly. Oh Sylvie. You really can be oblivious sometimes. As for the cult's workings, remember they're also a terrorist organization. The "Darwin Incident" was a bioterror attack using Kaiju Blue and Sarin gas together. They're certainly going to operate like an underworld organization... with a fanatic kind of loyalty. Scary indeed. And Gavin's first reaction to Sylvie's comment about the brainwashing tech was "Oh no, fiVe! I'm so sorry..." Ehehehe. It isn't often that the players get to upset the GM!

See, I'm always tempted to do the right thing and just hit edit, but I want to notify you guys, and I don't think it's quite as big of a deal in these kinds of back-forums, so I won't worry too much about double posting. ANYWAY. Scrounger Session #16 is up!

I'm fairly certain that the Palanaeum's walls don't count as gemstone, since they are Soulcast. I'm almost positive you can't Soulcast actual gemstones out of other things. It's more like glass than one of the actual stormlight-holding gems. EDIT: And Shardlet, the Palanaeum proper also has sections of crystal within it.

Re: The Palanaeum's crystal walls. It's in the very first description of the Palanaeum that we receive.

My brain is evil and that image of Seiko and Miranda is burned into my mind. As for the Assembly... Well, I am in the class BLIT 3433 - Minor Prophets this semester... and the first day of class we talked about how the precursors to the minor prophets were the major prophets and then the Judges... so heh. That's fun. I'm pretty sure it's a comics thing that Asgardians speak the All-Tongue. It went around tumblr for a while after people were criticizing that Loki was speaking "English" in Stuttgart to a group of Germans, but I think it's actually a thing. I didn't come up with it certainly. And it would have to be magical of course. I've tried to wrap my brain around how universal translations would work, and they always just eat at my brain a lot. (I do the same thing with the Tardis' translation core from Doctor Who). Do you hear only your own language with regular inflections and connotations, as though it is translated? Do you hear the actual spoken language, but are somehow able to understand it? Do you hear your own language, but are somehow able to grasp the differences between translations and the inflection of the original? I DON'T KNOW IT'S SO COOL. (Though my linguist heart would almost always hope for the second option. Hearing every other language as English, while useful, would seem very boring very quickly.)

Elhokar's Plate and Blade are Gavilar's, I'm almost positive. While you are correct in that Gavilar's plate was painted blue, but Elhokar's is gold, I'm fairly certain that Elhokar has simply had it painted since receiving it. This quote seems to imply that "the king's Blade and Plate" are a set that belongs to the monarch, whoever he is. The quote that probably made you think of Dalinar winning them is this one I would guess (bold mine), but it doesn't say anything about Elhokar keeping a set, presumably because he already owned the royal Shards.:
-
I am 99.9% positive that it went to Elhokar and it's the one that he still uses today.
-
Okay, that is true. Perhaps if it gets some intelligence it can get promoted to kitty spren. But I do tend to associate repeated leg bumpings with the kittehs.
-
Moog's right. Kitten Spren.

How can you hope to outrun me, WHEN I AM ALREADY HERE? *Eternity Served Cold begins to play* Oh whoops, wrong fandom. The Fangirl: Weaponized I'm glad you liked it! I told you I played the concept fairly straight, and I'm glad you think I captured the MCU feel. That's always the thing I attempt to do most when writing fanfic, so I'm glad you think I pulled it off! I'm especially pleased that you liked Tony, since I was most nervous about him. And yeah, Hawkeye's a hard one to characterize, because he didn't get much in canon. I've recently started to read the Fraction and Aja comics with him, but I hadn't at the time so the MCU version was the one that I had to base it off of. I am rather proud of Loki's portrayal in this. I think staying out of his POV for most of the story and keeping everything external worked very well, and it made the epilogue shine as we finally got to see inside his head. I really, really like how the epilogue turned out as well. The set up with the tricky tesseracts (don't ask me which one is the real one, I have no idea, Loki won't tell me) and the fact that I got to end on that note worked super well. His writing style is a bit more elevated than the girls' as well, which was fun to work with. Also, "Oblivion seemed to him a more enviable state than existence," remains one of my favorite lines I have ever written. (I also accidentally almost had Shallan say something about Renarin "suffering a gross misunderstanding of her character" in ASMoB before I realized I'd already used that line with Loki, OOPS. I'm not too much of a strategist, but it helped that the whole weapons thing was actually a bluff and they weren't planning to actually fight. And... I've had quite a few people hounding me for a sequel but I've always said no because I had other projects. (Of course, that was before I had an idea for it and now this little story is niggling at my brain again, so I might just end up caving and writing it anyway.) Scroungers #15 Re: the group being against Sylvie's infiltration. It's worth noting that Sylvie and Leah's conversation in Session 14, everything after "Status Update: You're a prisoner now" was done in a private chat, so the rest of the players were unaware of what Sylvie was planning until I had her switch back to the main chat to talk to Eleanor. I warned Gavin ahead of time that this was Sylvie's intention, making sure ze was okay with me splitting the party if we pulled if off. Since ze was, we went through with it! Everyone else pretty much just went along, reacting in character. (After Sylvie goes off in the car Gavin and I switch to private chat again, so the rest of the party stays unaware of her actions until later.) Lucy's appearance was a compel actually, a development meant to cause trouble for the characters. So more of a plot twist, actually. Gavin was compelling Miranda on the fact that she was going to have to act against somebody that she knew. I think that might be why she hesitated and decided to go for pickpocketing first before realizing she was going to need to attack her before she did something to their car. I will certainly be working to bring you Session 16, which, yes I believe is more character heavy! Should be fun! Also, if you're a glutton for Scrounger stuff I had a really rather tragic dream about the Scroungers last night and ended up typing it up to inflict it upon others. *still crying* I think my subconcious is punishing me for being so monstrous all the time.

Allow me! I've got a compilation from when I created my soulcaster, because my mom hadn't read it at the time and she was helping me with it. And finally, the part of my soulcaster which is inacurate: Jasnah's (and Shallan's) are both golden, whereas mine is silver. When looking for quotes about it, I searched "Soulcaster" and this little section just says "fuzzy golden object" so it didn't catch. :C

Welp, I was gonna wait until you posted again, but that's lame and it's my thread so RULES ARE FOR SUCKERS DOUBLE POST AWAAAAY. But yeah, Sydney Scroungers Session #15 is now up, if you feel like taking a break from all those weaponized fangirls, Quiv. (Or you know, if any of the rest of you are reading!) EDIT: Also, I am apparently now "The Broken One" and I am inordinately proud of that little rank earning. Muahahaha.

I get the feeling that the songs can't actually be used to communicate. You can't send anything, just listen in and sing along to yourself if you wish.

Sure, here or on tumblr will work! Just link me to it and I'll spread the word! I will say that it's a bit easier for me if you tag all of your liveblog posts with a single tag. Then instead of needing to reblog every single one, I can just make the link send people straight to your blog with all posts under that tag in chronological order. Something like #wor liveblog or really whatever you'd like to use. Send me a link when you do things! I like it when people link me things.

The Adonalsium page catches a good portion of it. Though not all of our silly commentary on the sides. It's surely not so hard to navigate is it? (Also tumblr's like 300% easier to figure out with an account. The dashboard is quite a bit more user-friendly than a lot of people's actual blogs are.)
-
Light above... I should have realized I was exposing myself by posting in here... For future reference though, it's far from comprehensive, but I try to keep Adonalsium's liveblog page up-to-date as best I can! There's quite a few over there. Megan's Way of Kings liveblog (tinandpewterstrength) you've already read, I know, though she's just started Warbreaker and that's new. I think the only person currently reading Way of Kings is Ada (airred), and she's getting fairly far through it! There's also some old ones up there that are completed. (And some that are probably done but I haven't updated yet. Whoops I'm a bad mod.)

Feathertips and Featherblades

Strangeness, sorry about that! It should be fixed now! (And I'm glad Stark seems good! He's a hard one to write!) -
Ah, right. That makes sense, Gamma. Hopefully that won't be a bad thing if it does happen, though the binding effects aren't permanent if I remember correctly
-
Yay, I'm glad! It always seemed a very apt analogue to me. This just in: I think about Vorin gender roles FAAAR more than is probably healthy. They're just so stinking fascinating. And I'm glad you're liking Adolin! Poor boy seems to be taking some flack over here, and he's growing nearer and dearer to my heart because of it. ....what? I'm really confused, is this a joke or something? How is Shallan studying her spren and learning more about it while taking notes for others to learn from a bad thing?
