The Good News Thread: I'm So Excited! And I Just Can't Hide It!
Jondesu replied to traceria's topic in General Discussion
A little late on this, but I got a job last week! I haven't worked in over a year and a half, so this is somewhat new, but it's been really good. It's only part time so I can ease back in, but it's fun. I'm listing books on eBay for a used bookstore here (I've known the owner for years, he goes to my church), and it's simple but fun to see the books (and movies and occasionally other random items) that come through. My second task there? Listing a signed copy of The Rithmatist (sadly no WoB, probably signed in a bookstore, and it didn't appear to have been read, since the spine was still completely stiff). -

Sorry to hear that. I've been through that with a failed business venture (twice, actually), and it sucks. Best of luck getting a new job and recovering! -
Quintus examined the Canton of Inquisition carefully. He'd joined the ranks by molding his appearance to that of an Obligator, with low-ranking but sufficient tattoo marks, after some study. He'd come to Scadrial months prior, intending to study the local culture and religions, and since the only real religion was The Lord Ruler's, he had decided to join one of the Cantons to learn more. He'd not intended to become involved in any of the more violent segments, but it appeared his hand might have been forced now. He wasn't Skaa, nor was he willing to work with a failed cause like that, as a scholar. But he also didn't really want to kill anyone who might be a Skaa, or working with them, even if it became necessary. He'd have to figure out a good way around that if the situation arose. Around him, the Obligators had begun to split into groups, divided by existing friendships and rivalries as well as opinions. Gaskon Renaud quickly offered to help consolidate information, though with the unusual twist of promising to commit suicide to protect the information later. It seemed like an insufficient promise, and Quintus doubted that anyone could take such a plan seriously. Variel and Joe quickly joined in with similar suggestions, however, which struck him as a suspicious thing to do. Others opposed those plans, or chose to stay out of the conversation, and soon had split off into other groups. Quintus found himself largely standing alone, not opposing most of the existing groups, but not compelled to join in either. Instead, he melted into the shadows at the edge of the room and continued to observe. I'm going to stick to my no-lynch position, even though I realize there will in fact be a lynch today. I don't really have a strong opinion between those currently up for the lynch, so we can leave it up to the random selection if no one else swings the vote.

Quick Fix Game 27: Lord of the Lynches: Terror in Minas Tirith
Jondesu replied to Elenion's topic in Sanderson Elimination
@Doc12, there are 4 Nobles remaining in the doc with names (pseudonyms), but I’m not sure if others may have been reading but never have checked in. That means 1-2 more Noble deaths is likely the tipping point for control, less if they can successfully convince others to vote with them. @Orlok Tsubodai, thanks for that rundown. I agree with you on Jondesu. More significantly, though, I agree on Straw, and I had already expressed suspicion of him in the doc. I find that Elims like to taunt us by telling us how dire the situation is, though I’ve seen posts like that from villagers before as well. Straw has enough against him for me to vote on him now. -

Well, shoot. To answer the question about what being the Minister of Communication gains me? Nothing in particular. It’s fun, though, to have a special role. I think most of the other Nobles believe me, but you’re right, they don’t want to speak up here to confirm or deny. I did not know that Rand was a noble, though he was one of the ones I suspected might be (from the grammar and style of writing). I’ll read back over the Noble doc, but I’m guessing someone else in there figured it out and passed it on to the Elims. I’ll see if I can figure out the others and then narrow down the likely mole suspects. -
I plan to do some RP this game, since LGs are well suited to that, but for now I just wanted to chime in and agree with the No Lynch. There’s been other games when I’ve advocated for that, usually in similar cases where the odds of hitting a villager were ridiculously high compared to an average game. I think this game is a good one to try that approach, but I do want to say that everyone should chime in on that debate. That discussion will be just as valuable as any lynch could be.

Quick Fix Game 27: Lord of the Lynches: Terror in Minas Tirith
Jondesu replied to Elenion's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Sorry for not answering already, @randuir, I forgot that question. I claimed last cycle sometime before I revealed here, I think (too lazy to go double check right at the moment). DA had posted in the Noble doc, and anyone familiar with his writing style at all would have known it was him, so it’s very possible and likely that there’s an Elim noble. I don’t expect to live much longer myself, but I’m hoping they’ll figure someone might protect me and at least give me another cycle. I can’t honestly say I’d recommend a guard protect me, but of course do what you think is best, guardsmen. -

I believe I have been officially appoint the Minister of Communication for the Nobles, so I may come in and state something they wished me to say. If I do, I’ll denote it by putting it on a separate line, but of course it’ll be paraphrased and not copied verbatim. Why is Manukos suspect? I still think that was a very weird ploy if he’s Elim, but dangerously close to successful if he’s really a jester. Could be he’s just messing with us, too. -

Actually, since there’s only 42 min left in the cycle, let me go ahead and explain. I’m a Nobleman, on Gondor’s side, though that part obviously I can’t prove. I took a chance in the Nobleman doc and revealed my identity, which no one else has done, and they probably won’t and maybe shouldn’t. That does lead me to believe that Sony, Mestiv, and Straw may be in communication, which since there are no PMs, that means the Nobleman doc, which I’m in, or the Elim doc, which I suspect is the case. I suppose they could be Village nobles trying to consolidate their power or even just suspecting that I might be an Elim, but since they did it so close together and yet for such different reasons, it’s worth revealing. Oh, and for self-preservation, I guess I’ll vote Roadwalker. I’m not particularly suspicious of them, but I’d rather survive at the moment to see if I can learn more this way. -

Interesting. First Sony, then Mestiv, then Straw put votes on me for seemingly different reasons, though it’s hard to tell with Straw not really explaining a reason. @Sony, mind reading my explanation and telling what didn’t convince you? @Mestiv, why did you choose me despite the fact that I’d already posted this cycle and had posted last cycle? @Straw, mind providing a reason for your vote against me? -
Quick Fix Game 27: Lord of the Lynches: Terror in Minas Tirith
Jondesu replied to Elenion's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Huh, I have no idea why Steel would think I was evil if Manukos is, which I think is what I’m getting from that part of the message. Edit: Nevermind, just saw what Sif and Steel posted about my defense of Manokus last cycle. I thought my logic was pretty sound and my reasons pretty clear, but whatever. -
Yeah, removing the insta-lose factor would make it actually something people might do. With that in there, there's absolutely no incentive to doing it.

Ok, from what I’m seeing, a lot of ya’ll think Manukos has a jester-type role. If so, voting on him is a horrible idea! If you think he’s just trying to make us think he’s a jester, sure, vote on him, but if you genuinely believe it, vote for someone else. You’ll most likely die if he truly is a jester. Rand, sorry I haven’t had a lot to say. I haven’t been getting a good feel for anyone because of the seemingly random comments. -
Wait, really? That’s interesting. I tried to burn everyone and take a life away (to shorten the game), but Sheep didn’t let me do that.

No, @Straw was the Gunsmith. I had a gun I never used because my vendetta was against Megasif, who was Boring for too many cycles and I couldn’t use it. Shoulda just used it on someone randomly I guess.

Quick Fix Game 27: Lord of the Lynches: Terror in Minas Tirith

@King Cole, please don’t post in the thread at all since you’re dead. As for the discussion, I’m getting weird vibes from Lemon, but this feels like the many many times I’ve seen someone say something that was odd or have bad logic, and I don’t think any of those have resulted in an Elim lynch that I can remember. I think I’ll put my vote on Alvron since I can definitely see him using a tactic like insanity to appear innocent. -

Sorry for being less active last cycle. I finally have a job again, and while it’s part-time, it kept me distracted. I didn’t see anyone expressing suspicion of either BR or DA. Did I miss anything? If not, we don’t have a lot to go on regarding who the politicians are, and we don’t necessarily know there are only 2, as Lemonelon was hinting at. -

Noble Twigeye, I fear I must risk offense, but haste is of the essence. Mordor closes on the borders of Gondor more each passing day, and we must be prepared. That is why my father sent me to find what I could and see if the men of Gondor had learnt enough humility to again have free dealings with the elves. -

Quintus will make a trek to Scadrial. I don’t think he’s been there yet. He’ll be infiltrating the Canton technically I suppose, but with the goal of information gathering instead of overthrowing it, so he’s not starting out bad.

I meant the purpose of the Elim team having that. I agree that they don't really need alignment scanning, unless there's something I'm not seeing, but Len may have copied and pasted or just used the wording he's used to for a scanning role. "Learn the role and alignment of a player" is something I would probably write without really thinking about it unless I had intentionally planned to restrict or change it in some way. -

Yay! I have a LotR character I’ve used long ago, so here comes Findecano Nenharma, cousin to Legolas Greenleaf and Prince of Mirkwood.
