I stand completely behind the lynch on Cadmium Compounder, despite knowing its outcome. As I said last cycle, his policy was a "defect" action in SE's collective action problem. We're all better off as a group if we're capable of analysis, which entails villagers trying to ensure they can be analysed. If we're unable to analyse, the village can never win at SE games other than by random chance, which is a loss to us all. Each individual may be better off by defecting (that is making themselves impossible to analyse), provided the group itself remains capable of analysis, and loses out if everyone else but themselves are impossible to analyse. As such, in order to ensure the group takes collectively preferable action, we need to compel people act against individual interest, which I think a lynch does admirably. Fifth expresses discontent at a policy lynch (and has done so again in PMs with me). I think that this "policy lynch" ought to be regular practice for the protection of our collective "commons". I'm slightly suspicious of Fifth for his repetition of being against a policy lynch - it feels like a good way to seem "good", whilst supporting a practice helpful to eliminators in this game.

Long Game 49/Anonymous Game 3: Window to the Past
Orlok Tsubodai replied to little wilson's topic in Sanderson Elimination
I have to say, I'm very glad to see this game over. I hugely enjoyed seeing the quantity of RP, and watching players make something of the game, but it took a monumental amount of effort each rollover. I apologise for the delays to rollovers, which were mostly my fault. Unfortunately, El had to largely drop out for personal reasons, and Wilson and my schedules didn't line up, so we spent most of the game managing this with one or the other of us trying to do everything each cycle. As those of you who have read the dead doc will notice, this game wasn't in a state to run when we started the game. As such, I had to build a lot of it as it went. For those of you who came off badly as a result of the balancing that happened as the game went on, whether with the selected win conditions, traits, or rulings we made, I apologise. I'd be keen to hear players' opinions the balance, as my own perspective most certainly lead to a set of mistakes. I'd thank Wilson immensely for her help this game, both with the inception of a game like this, her invaluable input on balancing decisions, her vision and drive, and for taking over for the end of the game, where looming deadlines, mid terms, and my 21st meant I stepped back entirely.- 1062 replies

I think this justifies a Day One lynch as well as anything I've seen. Trying to sound contrived entails deliberately working against the village, who you ought to be helping, if you're a villager. Adding noise to obscure the signal we're trying to analyse is deeply counterproductive. Not only do I think that's suspicious in its own right, but I think it's behaviour we ought to set a precedent of punishing as a village. If we allow people to act counter-productively for Cadmium Compounder's stated purpose, we may as well cease analysis generally, as we'll never be able to tell whether someone is laying the ground for future games, or is actually evil. If we have to cease analysis, we should just hand the game to the eliminators. As such, I'd strongly encourage everyone to vote for Cadmium this cycle.

Furamirionind, which was never meant to be a permanent vote. I have to apologise, but haven’t had nearly the time to properly look at the thread yet today. I’ll do so tomorrow morning, but in the meantime will vote on Cadmium, for no reason other than their analysis reading as contrived, and not feeling quite right. For the benefit of Wyrm, and as I’m not a huge fan of empowering someone wishing me dead at this stage, Araris, Fifth Scholar.

Locke Tekiel, first of his name, looked in shock and horror at the slander spewed by Sabine. Madness? Savagery? He knew himself to be reserved, meek and mild, and a figure of forgettable stature. Locke resolved to preserve his peace loving reputation, and so to ensure Sabine ceased her worryingly ill-informed campaign against him, permanently. More seriously, at this point I'm mildly suspicious of @Fifth Scholar, who is being oddly flattering in a manner that makes me wary of him trying to "pocket" me. I'd also question @Cadmium Compounder's vote on Joe. Joe's vote on Furamirionind feels to me like a pretty typical vote adding pressure to them.

Furamirionind, as I think that discouraging people from voting at the start of a game actively discourages the production of information, which can only help the eliminators. Araris, who I think would make sensible use of two votes next turn.

Long Game 49/Anonymous Game 3: Window to the Past

By virtue of having two active GMs working autonomously, and an incredibly complicated game with some automated parts, it is an inevitability that we will make mistakes. In this case, despite wishing not to confirm actions being taken or not, I feel we must step in to correct one such a mistake. Unfortunately, after Drunk Beggar passed Violet Wine, I forgot to remove it from his inventory, leading to Jasnah being informed that Drunk Beggar had Violet Wine.- 1062 replies

Long Game 49/Anonymous Game 3: Window to the Past
Orlok Tsubodai replied to little wilson's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Szeth-son-son-Vallano, Truthless of Shinovar, wore white as he pled for the others to listen. White at the request of his masters. White to be bold. White to show the warm, crimson blood spreading across his chest. Szeth looked down at the knife that seemed to have suddenly sprouted from his chest. Someone must've thrown it at him -- but who? He looked back up at the crowd, and caught a glimpse of someone hastily slipping away. Was it just him, or had the Alethi parted to let them disappear? Perhaps they did not care as much for an assassination attempt on the Parshendi's servant nearly as much as an attempt on their own. It was so hard to stand, now. Szeth flung his hand out to summon his Honorblade, his knees buckling beneath him. One...two...three... No use. He couldn't see any Stormlight nearby. He crumpled to the floor. Strangely, for such a deep cut, the knife didn't hurt too much. Was he dying? The world spun as Szeth looked for his masters -- but thankfully, they were safe, these strange not-human beings who had still treated him the most humanely out of any of his masters. He hoped they would stay that way. "I've always imagined this moment," Szeth whispered to his unseen assailant. "Thank you." Szeth-son-son-Vallano, Truthless of Shinovar, keeled over. Dead. Volunteers Wanted! The Heralds of the Almighty call on your aid. Required Volunteers: Attackers who can cooperate to reach up to a 100% success chance. This will not help you reach any win conditions that require killing. Bonus Volunteers: Anyone willing to contribute towards either the defense action or the attack action. Note that defenders must be willing to cooperate rather than lead. Extra Special Volunteer: A willing target. Through Heralds Ltd. will make every effort to ensure your safety, we hereby cede responsibility for any damage you may incur, including, but not limited to, decapitation, evisceration, defenestration, incineration, exsanguination, corneal extirpation, and lethal transmutation. Participants will be entitled to rewards payable in items and/or favors according to the requests of the volunteers on a first-come, first-served basis. Volunteers may sign up in public, or at one of the many Heraldic registration booths conveniently located at strategic locations throughout the palace. Those who interfere with this process, whether through roleblocks, redirects, or abstentions, will be consigned to Damnation upon their untimely death. Szeth was killed. PMs remain generally closed, but you may now pay one Infused Broam to send a single PM message to a player of your choice. This may be done as many times a turn as you have Infused Broams. The ostracism this turn will result in the death of the player with the most votes. This cycle will end in just under 47 hours time, at 11pm BST on the 10th October.- 1062 replies

Amaram was ostracised. Liss returned from ostracism. Gavilar was killed. As a consequence of this, Wilson and I have a significant amount of work to do. The game will resume in just under 23 hours time, once we've organised the consequences. I hope you'll appreciate the wait. PMs are no longer open, as the Guards are not permitting private communications. PMs sent from now will result in deductions to success chances. Docs remain open.- 1062 replies

Action submissions this cycle have been disappointingly low, and as such, Wilson and I have decided to extend the cycle by 24 hours to give time for a greater number of action submissions. In future turns, there will be an incentive to submit actions in the first 36 hours of a cycle.- 1062 replies
