  1. Where's the exact quote? The wiki doesn't have a source. Although, that's not as relevant now that we know his book will be the third. If Dalinar does die, I highly doubt it will be before the 5th SA book.
  2. storms, I'd love to see Kaladin and young Ed hash it out. Especially with the height difference. I think Kal would probably win, though... the lashings give him a big advantage.
  3. Seconded. I'm also afraid of mental illness. And... this one's kind of childish and embarrassing... but I'm terrified of the dark. Specifically, being alone in the dark. If there's someone else and I'm talking to them, usually I'm okay, but when I'm alone I just picture all these different monsters (usually stuff like the aliens from Signs or Slenderman) and I start panicking. At night, when I turn off my light, I usually (against my will) panic-run to my bed and then bury myself in the blankets. And I get too scared to reach out and turn on/off my lamp because I just imagine a creepy hand reaching up from under my bed and grabbing my arm.... I'm also scared of deep water, and... erm.... whales..... I promise you I'm an adult :'|
  4. I never knew that!! That is so cool!!! lol!! edit: is there anything else I should know about Herdazians that I somehow missed while rereading the series?!
  5. Welcome to 17th shard, Mr Herdazian! Do you happen to be friends with a certain fellow named Lopen? Is it possible you're thinking of the Aimians?
  6. oh, and how about a "who can come up with a metaphor worse than david's" contest?
  7. Having already put Wit from his mind, Kaladin continued trying to revive Adolin, to no avail.
  8. Well, I was going to ask why there was so much talk about Nighthound dying, but then I read a couple of his posts. So instead I'll just ask: what happens once yall completely obliterate Oregon? (Pun intended)
  9. Actually I do have a yankees cap just like hers. however, it stopped working and can no longer turn me invisible. :/ ....or can it?
  10. Welp, I started Eye of the World. So far, so good...

yeah I'm having trouble getting into it.. I just finished rereading Stormlight so it's kind of hard reading about a fantasy world that actually has sheep and real chickens and normal stuff like that haha

I didn't get past about chapter 5 on my first attempt. Twas so boring. But second attempt (six months later) managed to get past that bit, and it picked up a fair bit. The books are good, but long winded. I ended up skimming a lot as a result. It satisfied the 'I must find out what happens next' itch.

Haha I put it down for a few days around chapter 5 when it spent a whole paragraph talking about Rand cutting firewood... then I picked it up again just to find that if I had read two more pages, I would have gotten to the real action. But, Way of Kings was hard for me the first time, too, so I shall push on!!

  11. "He's fine, other than the shock and possibly a mild concussion," Kaladin announced, frowning slightly.
  12. Evyn stood suddenly, her hair blowing in the nonexistent wind. Facing the window, she stared off at something in the distance and whispered dramatically into the void. "The time has come. The time... of DOOM." (cue Minas Morgul music)

    #1 Dad

Makes me appreciate Kelsier and Dadlinar so much more. Happy (late) Father's Day, my beautiful Cosmere dads
  14. Ouch. Physically, and kind of personality-wise, I probably most resemble Sarene. But personality-wise, I relate a lot to Kaladin, although he's way more assertive and decisive than me. And I like rain. I don't know, I don't think any one Cosmere character is the most like me. I relate to parts of each one. I guess Sarene and Kaladin are the ones most like me. But then there's Vin, and... I dunno. Kind of off-topic though.... me and Annabeth from Percy Jackson are basically the same person. Physically and personality-wise. Except that she's smarter and more clever.
  15. My vote also goes (tentatively) to Adamir. for now. I agree with Bort that Adamir seems to have overreacted with his defense- it was the first cycle, there was no way anybody could have 'heavy suspicions'. Adamir is active and contributes to discussion, but all of his more detailed contributions seem to be focused on defending himself, instead of discussing who might be CC. However, as Seonid said, it's very possible he's only a passenger who just really wants to stay alive and play more. As of now, he just seems the most suspicious to me. The possibility also occurs to me that Bort could be CC and he's directing suspicion towards Adamir, an unfortunate passenger whose actions could be construed as suspicious. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe Bort was the first one to cast a serious vote on someone other than himself. Thoughts? I second what Neo and Leif said; knowing who's in what car probably benefits the CC more than it benefits us. Although, they could include the members of their car in their message to the CC with the kill. Does anybody recall what Joe was saying last station? Maybe he got killed because he cast suspicion on a CC member? (Is there a way to read through the last station?) Also, a question: jw, do passengers or CC members benefit more from having lots of coins? EDIT: I'm thinking passengers, because of the vault car...
  16. He originally didn't redden his vote and asked a mod to do it for him. I think Metacognition is the one who fixed it (edit: color) Edit: Wait, I was thinking about Leif's. Nm ONE MORE EDIT: Orlock was also unable to color his text at the time. so. Same answer. XD Sorry
  17. Double confirmed. I've read through the posts a couple times, and I think for now I'll place my vote on Adamir for no other reason than the coin and a hunch. Correct me if I'm wrong, but this leaves Araris and Grind with 2 votes each, Adamir and Met-al with 4, and then several other people with only one. I have to say, so far I'm not a huge fan of this first cycle lynching business. It's basically just a shot in the dark, isn't it. =P EDIT: I'm having serious doubts about my vote, but I also have no reason to change it, so I don't know. :|
  18. Let's dicuss a Brandon Sanderson-themed amusement park. owo NOTE: I haven't really read many non-Cosmere works so I didn't include those, but this park would definitely include non-Cosmere stuff. I'm just not able to come up with any :/ Nor was I able to come up with a better name than "Brandon Sanderland". Also, I haven't read Warbreaker or Elantris in a while, so I was kind of ill-equipped to come up with theme park ideas for those heh. I sorted the ideas by series. EDIT: I do give credit to my cousin for some of these ideas, though most of them are mine. We talked for a good half hour about this SA -Right as you enter the park, there sits on a stool a Wit/Hoid lookalike who quips at everyone as they walk past -Herdazian food stalls, selling chouta and the like -Horneater food stalls as well (they're not REAL shells...) -A Windrunner-inspired rollercoaster -Choreographed Shard duels -Buy infused spheres as souvenirs -A facepainter that specializes in the Bridge Four forehead tattoos -The Barracks: a cozy outdoor restaurant that sells only Rock's stew -A Highstorm simulator -Maybe some 'ardents' walking around -rare: you might find a Worldsinger that can tell you about various Roshar cultures (info that's not in the books- but that isn't important enough to be a spoiler, so Brandon would be willing to make them privy to it and let them tell the theme park guests) -Tien's Rock Shop: they sell geodes, crystals, normal rocks, little fossils, whatever. In honor of Tien. (cries for eternity) -EDIT: THEY SELL STICKS IN THE GIFT SHOP MB -The Mistborn section is open a couple hours into the night, and they have fog machines to mimic the Mist (in addition, they play noises over the PA that mimic both passing Mistwraiths and Mistborns) -A large bookstore, in which, if you're lucky, you can find Elend reading (if you approach him, the most you can get out of him is book recommendations. they're all philosophy books.) or Brandon Sanderson himself! -Wayne's Hatterie -There's a ride kind of like the Tower of Terror, but it's based on ironpulling/steelpushing -OH also food stalls that sell baywraps -a haunted house. Not sure what would be in it, but the MB section is the right place to have it because there's some eerie stuff in that series -maybe a Kelsier actor walking around laughing and such. -MISTBORN, the ROLLERCOASTER. a very up&down rollercoaster that takes place in a dark building fiilled with Mist so you can't see where you're going. c: -A restaurant-inn-combo themed after Club's shop/the crew's hideout. Complete with chalkboards -Luthadel balls, complete with Elend's reading nook, which he usually occupies and is sometimes accompanied by Vin herself!! WB -The T'Telir section is bursting with color n stuff -Stay at a hotel where they treat you like a Returned for the duration of your stay (minus the feeding on Breath and petitioning, of course. haha.) -^This would include getting your very own Returned name -A storyteller. (Hoid) Elantris -The gift shops sell mock Seons -Get an Aon based name maybe? -Street artist who sketches you as an Elantrian (uh, the healthy kind) -ELANTRIS, the ride: a tour of the city (not the whole city- kind of structured like the Small World ride in Disney World. but without any obnoxious singing) Other? -there would be various Hoids throughout the park- some hidden, some not. Some insult you, some tell you witty stories, some perform music, all may disappear without explanation -"Magic" shows where the magician simulates various Brandon magic systems
  19. back from camping, and still in love with thaylen culture

  20. gone camping!! I'll be back on friday

  21. miss Evyn, ready and raring to go! This is my first Sanderson Elimination game so I'm a bit unsure. I spent a long time today reading through the rules and past games, though. Probably too long. Oh well, I had fun (QF7 made me laugh, with all the doctors). And this game seems a lot like Avalon, which I'm slightly experienced at. Anyway, so, could someone clarify to me how actions work? (You get two every cycle, right? Is baking or gambling an action? Do you PM all actions to the GM?) Also, do the separate cars mean that all discussion once the game starts will be held in different PM groups? EDIT: sorry for all the questions, just want to make sure I don't mess up somehow >.<
  22. Have you guys ever read this sorting system? It's really complex and it's self diagnosed, but it's so fascinating to read about. I'm still trying to figure out what my primary and secondary are. It's a really interesting way of sorting personalities.
  23. When I took an MBTI test in middle school, I was an ISFJ. However, since then I've almost completely flip flopped and now I'm an INTP. (High five to all my INTP pals c: ) Really interesting to me. Lately, it's been a little iffy between INTP/INFP, but I fit better as an INTP. (9th Doctor woo!!) The only problem is that I went through a phase a couple years ago where I obsessively researched INTPs, so at this point, it's unclear whether I'm choosing answers based on my actual personality or choosing answers because that's what I expect myself to be. And I could go either way for a lot of the questions. It's never really that black and white to me.
  24. For real. My thumbs have gotten really muscly from having to hold open the small WoK paperback.
